system > description Stylepave Concrete Resurfacing How Can You Use the Stylepave Resurfacing System on Your Project? The Stylepave Resurfacing System can be used as a decorative overlay on clean and structurally sound existing concrete surfaces. The system can also be used on new concrete that is at least 28 days old. Any significant cracks in the existing concrete should be repaired prior to installing the Stylepave System. The two part system consists of a dry coloured powder which is mixed with the CCS liquid polymer bonding agent. This solution is then added to a large hopper gun and sprayed onto the surface. Designs can be created by applying an adhesive fibre tape or pre-cut stencil design to the concrete surface prior to spraying on the coloured coating. Coating Sealers such as CCS Hardseal Advanced, CCS Hi-Build Enduro or CCS Decrathane are used to coat the whole system to enhance the colour and protect the surface from subsequent exposure to dirt and grease. uses > What Can be Coloured With the CCS Stylepave Resurfacing System? All clean and structurally sound concrete surfaces can be revitalised by applying the Stylepave Resurfacing System. Anything from pre-cut stencils and custom stencils (such as logos) to large blocks of colour and geometrical shapes can be created. Pedestrian precincts, shopping centre surrounds, footpaths, home exterior and interior floors, pool surrounds and median strips are just some examples of areas where the system is commonly used. finishes > What Type of Finish Can be Created? Depending on what is desired, either a smooth orange peel finish or a textured, non-slip, sandy type finish can be achieved. Where anti-slip properties are important, you should specify the sandy type finish. If a particular slip rating is required please contact our office to discuss your project. colours > What Colours are Available? Single or a combination of colours can be used. Choose from 11 standard colours or the 17 mix on site colours displayed on the back page of the Stylepave Resurfacing System brochure or the true to life colour card available by phoning Colours similar to our CCS Pigments can be achieved if required. Please contact our head office on or to discuss your project. Page 3

Stylepave Concrete Resurfacing strength > Does Stylepave Affect the Strength of Concrete? Results of tests conducted on crushing test cubes made from CCS Resurfacing Compound reveal the following typical strengths: 1 Day 7 MPa 3 Days 33 MPa 28 Days 56 MPa abrasion > resistance Summary: High early and long term strengths ensure a strong and an abrasive resistant surface finish is achieved. When applied in accordance with instructions, the Stylepave Resurfacing System will provide excellent abrasion resistance. Typical abrasion resistance is as follows: Typical Abrasion Resistance. Surfaces Finished with CCS Resurfacing Compound Applications Upper Limit for Abrasion Resistance (mean abrasion index) as per AS/NZ Average abrasion index of surface finished with CCS Resurfacing Compound* Result Residential Pedestrian Residential Driveways Public Footpaths Pedestrian Malls Roads Loss of abrasion from CCS Resurfacing Compound was very minimal and far exceeds Australian Standards Industrial Pavements *Results of tests by Queensland University of Technology conducted in accordance with AS/NZ Determination of abrasion resistance. Surfaces were finished with a mixture of CCS Resurfacing Compound and CCS Super Polymer 2000 at the rate of 4kg/m 2. Summary: Wearing of surface finished with CCS Resurfacing Compound was very minimal and is far less than the loss allowed in accordance with AS/NZ Determination of Abrasion Resistance. application > Application Rate Rate of application depends on the service conditions which the floor will be exposed to. Recommended rates are as follows: Domestic driveways, paths and car parks with vehicular traffic under 3 tonnes: 3kg/m 2 Busy shopping footpaths and malls with heavy pedestrian traffic: 4kg/m 2 Page 4

Stylepave Concrete Resurfacing Specifications For the renovation of existing concrete Dirty or soiled concrete is to be pressure washed and treated with CCS HD Degreaser to remove oil or grease. All major cracks need to be repaired with a suitable crack filler such as the CCS Epoxy Repair Kit. Clean concrete surfaces should be primed with a diluted coat of Concrete Colour Systems Super Polymer 2000 at the rate of one part Super Polymer to 3 4 parts water. Base Coat: Concrete Colour Systems (nominate natural or colour eg. CCS Sandstone) Resurfacing Compound should be mixed with Concrete Colour Systems Super Polymer 2000 at the ratio of 2 litres of polymer to one 20kg bag plus up to litres of water and applied to surface with a squeegee or hopper gun. Where a pattern is required, apply either a pre-cut stencil or create design by adhering fibre tape to dry base coat. Top Coat: Mix Concrete Colour Systems (nominate colour eg. CCS Terracotta) Resurfacing Compound with Concrete Colour Systems Super Polymer 2000 at the ratio of 2 litres to one 20kg bag plus up to litres of water and apply to base coat using a Hopper Gun. Speckled or "flecked"/contrasting colour Apply a Concrete Colour Systems (nominate colour eg. CCS Black) Resurfacing Compound over top coat in an ad hoc manner to achieve 15% coverage to create a multi coloured effect. When surface is cool and dry, apply two coats of CCS Hardseal Advanced or the extra strong CCS Armourthane at the rate of one litre per 6-8 square metres in two coats. Note: The CCS Stylepave Resurfacing System must have a film forming sealer such as CCS Hardseal Advanced or CCS Hi-Build Enduro applied over the finished surface in order to lock in the polymer. 7 system > description Pattern Stamped Concrete How Can You Use Pattern Concrete on Your Project? CCS Pattern Concrete is created at the same time that new concrete is laid. After screeding and trowelling the fresh concrete, applicators colour the top 2-3mm of the concrete by applying CCS Colour Hardener (a dry coloured powder mixture) at the rate of 20kg for every seven square metres. After trowelling this material into the concrete, a darker coloured CCS Release Agent powder, or liquid is applied to the surface. The applicator then places specially textured urethane moulds (approximately 600 x 600mm in size) and rollers onto the concrete surface and use their body weight to impress this design into the surface of the fresh concrete. Please Note:- CCS Pattern Stamp mats can also be used with the CCS range of full depth colour pigments. Two to three days later the surface is pressure washed to remove any excess release agent and once dry, coated with two coats of CCS Hardseal Advanced, CCS Hardseal Matt or CCS Hi-Build Enduro with CCS Sealer Grip. uses > textures > What Can be Coloured With CCS Pattern Concrete? Any new horizontal concrete structure where a two toned textured surface is desired. The process is particularly suited to home exteriors and pedestrian areas. Note: Our Pattern stamp designs can also be imprinted over new full depth coloured concrete projects. What Type of Texture Can be Created? There are over 20 designs in the CCS range. These stamping moulds are designed to replicate large format slate, cobble, brick, tile, wood, seashell textures, rock and stone finishes. Some of these designs are represented in photographs of jobs in the enclosed brochure. Please contact our helpline if you would like a copy. Please view our website for the full range of stamping mat designs available. Caution should be excercised when using Stamped Concrete in wet or sloped areas. Traction aids can be added to the coating to improve surface texture. Traction aids will wear with abrasion and should be maintained. Page 7

strength > Pattern Stamped Concrete Does it Affect the Strength of Concrete? Results of tests conducted on crushing test cubes made from CCS Hardener reveal the following typical strengths: 1 Day 28 MPa 3 Days 45 MPa 28 Days up to 79 MPa abrasion > resistance Summary: High early and long term strengths ensure a strong and an abrasive resistant surface finish is achieved. By applying sufficient CCS Colour Hardener (coloured pre mix) to the surface of the concrete, the abrasion resistance of the surface actually improves. The following table details the potential increases in abrasion resistance gained from applying the recommended quantities of CCS Colour Hardener. Typical Abrasion Resistance Performance. Surfaces Finished With CCS Hardener Surface Minimum 28 day abrasion index standard as per MA20 Average abrasion index of surface finished with CCS hardener* Result Driveways, car parks with vehicular traffic under 3 tonnes Exceeds standard Footpaths Exceeds standard Public roads and industrial hardstands Exceeds standard Busy shopping footpaths and malls with heavy pedestrian traffic Exceeds standard *Results of tests by Queensland University of technology conducted in accordance with Appendix D MA 20 Abrasion Test, Specification for Concrete Segmented Paving Units. Surfaces were finished with CCS Hardener at the rate of 2kg/m 2. application > rate One of the most critical factors in ensuring that a durable pattern concrete finish is achieved is to insist that adequate quantities of the colour hardener are applied to the concrete. Rate of application of CCS Colour Hardener depends on the service conditions which the floor will be exposed to. Recommended rates are as follows: Domestic driveway, paths and car parks with vehicular traffic under 3 tonnes 2-2.8kg of CCS Colour Hardener per square metre (7-10m 2 per 20kg bag) Public roadways and industrial hard stands 3.3kg of CCS Colour Hardener per square metre (6m 2 per 20kg bag) Busy shopping footpaths and malls with heavy pedestrian traffic 4kg of CCS Colour Hardener per square metre (5m 2 per 20kg bag) Page 8

system > description Concrete Stains The CCS Rembrandt Water Based Stain System is a wonderful way of achieving a naturally aged or distressed coloured interior concrete. floor. The key component in the system is the low odour water based liquid stains. Which can be used singularly or mixed with one another to form an endless array of colour tones. CCS Rembrandt Stains are applied over the top of the 2 4mm CCS resurfacing overlay. By utilising special troweling and colouring techniques, professional applicators can create a wide range of unique finishes. The final component to the system is the sealer, which is applied to protect the coloured floor. Note: The CCS Rembrandt Stain System is only suitable for interior, sound concrete floors. end uses > What Can be Coloured With CCS Rembrandt Stains? Most sound interior concrete surfaces are suitable for staining. Restaurants, cafes, retail outlets and homes are typical end uses. Concrete must be at least 28 days old prior to placement of stains. weather > fastness Other applications include artificial rock work. Will Stained Concrete Remain Colourfast? Concrete coloured with stains is resistant to UV light and general weathering conditions. The only limitation is where water seeps up from underneath the concrete on a regular basis. Under such circumstances a further chemical reaction takes place which can cause the green and blue colours to turn a blackish colour. This colour change is unique to the green and blue colours and as a precaution we recommend that the green and blue colours are restricted to indoor use where the phenomenon rarely occurs. application method > All other colours are weatherfast. Existing concrete Applied over the CCS Resurfacing Compound In order to create a more predictable result it is best to resurface the existing concrete with either the bone coloured CCS Resurfacing Compound or a precoloured CCS Resurfacing Compound. The stains can be applied on the next day to create a wonderful coloured patina effect. In all instances the surface should be sealed with CCS Hardseal Advanced or CCS Armourthane after application of the stains. Page 11

Concrete Stains Specifications Option 3 > CCS Rembrandt Stain System Application on existing concrete using CCS Resurfacing Compound overlay Ensure concrete is structurally sound, any cracks have been repaired and that all coatings, adhesives and friable matter have been removed from surface. Prime surface with a dilution of CCS Super Polymer and water. Mix CCS Resurfacing Compound and CCS Super Polymer at a rate of 2.5 litres to a 20kg bag plus 2.5 litres of water and apply mixture to surface. Immediately trowel with a 3-5mm notched trowel to create a consistent finish with no cold joints. Trowel finish to desired smoothness. After the resurfacing compound has cured for 24 hours, apply up to two coats of Concrete Colour Systems (nominate stain colour eg. Aztec Red or refer to Rembrandt brochure for list of diluted colours) Rembrandt Stain at a rate of 1 litre per 8 square metres to duplicate previously approved on-site samples. Apply with a brush, squeegee sponge or spray gun. Where second or third colours are used: After four hours another secondary colour can be applied. Apply one coat of Concrete Colour Systems (nominate stain colour or refer to Rembrandt brochure for list of diluted colours) at a rate of 1 litre per 8 square metres. (Optional) Saw cut or scribe designs into the surface as per attached drawing. When the surface is clean and dry, seal with two coats of CCS Hardseal Advanced or CCS Armourthane (nominate one of these sealers) ensuring that the existing surface is slip safe or if not, add sufficient anti slip media, such as CCS Sealer Grip, to the sealer to create a safer surface. Page 12

system > description Stencilpave Concrete How Can You use Stencil Pave Concrete on Your Project? Stencil Pave Concrete is created in conjunction with the laying of new concrete. After initial screeding and trowelling, a pre-cut cardboard stencil design is unwound and carefully placed on the concrete surface. Applicators cover this stencil design shortly after by broadcasting and then trowelling the desired CCS Colour Hardener (a coloured powder that strengthens and colours the surface) into the slab to create a 2-3 mm surface colouring finish. After the concrete has had sufficient time to achieve an initial set, the stencil is removed. The removal of the stencil creates the grey grout lines which give definition to the coloured brick, cobble, tile or rock stencil design used. Depending on the applicator s preferred method, a coat of CCS Same Day acrylic sealer is applied within a few hours (to assist in curing and provide an immediate protection against the surface being soiled) with a coat of the more durable CCS Hardseal Advanced applied two days later. Alternatively two coats of CCS Hardseal Advanced can be applied several days after the slab is laid. Please refer to Product Data Sheet for further information. uses > finishes > What Can be Coloured With Stencil Pave? Pedestrian precincts, roadways, footpaths, house exteriors, facility exteriors, pool surrounds and shop interiors are all ideal areas for the Stencil Pave finish. What Type of Finish Can be Created? There are 11 standard stencil designs available including configurations of brick, tile, rock, cobble and stone. Refer to the stencil silhouette sheet contained in the brochure for actual designs. Each of these designs can be created in concrete with a smooth trowel finish, a broom finish, a sponge finish or a grainy wood trowel finish. An exquisite two-tone, subtly textured finish can also be achieved by rolling CCS Release Agents into the surface with the CCS Textured Roller following the initial application of CCS Colour Hardener. colours > What Colours are Available? Choose from the 11 popular colours that are displayed on the back page of the Stencil Pave flyer appearing in this section of the manual. Combinations of these colours can be used to create a multi coloured natural finish. Page 13
