9 Project Overview Joint Venture comprised of three large local contractors Community Asphalt, Condotte America, The de Moya Group Approximately 700 people working on the project Joint Venture has over eighty smaller subcontractors working on various operations Majority of subcontractor are based in South Florida and many are Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Over 90% of materials used in the project are being procured from within the state of Florida 9

10 Project Benefits Increased capacity and mobility Total travel lane miles increased from 42 to 95.7 Direct, high capacity connections between SR 826 and SR 836 Collector roads take traffic off mainline SR 826 and SR 836 Reduced weaving New ITS components allow for real time traffic updates to commuters and facilitate response by road rangers 10

14 Design Challenges Vertical Restrictions- Interchange in the glide path for MIA runway 9-27 Constrains on maximum height of interchange Temporary traffic plans have to account for vertical curve transitions and overhead clearance limitations on interchange. Requires close coordination with MDAD and FAA to not impact airport operations 14
