4 Parts of Tube-Lock concept All parts are available in solid galvanised steel optional kickerlift transom system transom swivel right angle boards console baseplate Tube-Lock Tube-Lock concept combines flexibility, simplicity, strength and quick (dis)assembly. The multifunctional Tube-Lock concept scaffold consists of 6 parts: The Tube-Lock connector, pushed into the end of pipe, ensures a strong length-wise connection of the ledgers Cross couplers connect uprights, horizontal ledgers and railings at an angle of 90 Swivel couplers connect poles at a different angle Transoms + extenders make assembly of the Tube-Lock concept scaffold easy because the standards are placed at the correct distance from each other Standards, approx mm centre to centre, connect the horizontal ledgers on the work floor with each other so that 5 scaffold planks can be laid alongside each other. Transom + extender is provided with a pull-out that enables the assembly of a maximum of 3 scaffold planks between the inside standard and the building. An optional console is available in different lengths. Tube-Lock concept is designed for the construction of independent scaffolds and can also be used in industry, shipbuilding and the aircraft industry Page: 4 of 15
5 Legislation The products manufactured by van Thiel United satisfy the strict quality and production standards. The values described in this manual concern steel Tube-Lock concept scaffold parts. Regulations from the newest European legislation and standards govern the assembly of Tube-Lock concept scaffolds. In connection with safety and legal liability we advise you to use only Tube-Lock concept parts. Tube-Lock concept scaffold parts can be combined with wooden scaffold parts that comply to the product certificate for wooden scaffold parts. Scaffolding higher than 24 metres and in a form not described in this manual should be considered with the aid of statistical calculations. van Thiel United can take care of these calculations in consultation with you. Check all parts for damage before assembly. Damaged parts may not be used. An instructor is available for advice at your request Page: 5 of 15
6 Erecting a Tube-Lock Concept scaffold The following diagrams show a typical sequence of erection. It should be noted that only two temporary tubes are used, both of which can be left in the structure until it is time to dismantle. In some of the diagrams different activities are shown- the sequence is always A,B,C. 2x bay length 1. Placing base plates 2. Position first pair of standards B. Levelled A. Fixed to standard below ledger C. Fixed A. Fixed B. Levelled C. Fixed 3. Fix first ledger with swivel couplers 4. position standard and transom Fixed to standards above transoms Repeat 5. Repeat at other end 6. Fix second ledger Page: 6 of 15
