1 OPACI-COAT-300 GLASS WALL CLADDING SUGGESTED SPECIFICATION PART 1 - GENERAL 1.01 DESCRIPTION A. General Information 1. The other contract documents complement the requirements of this section. 2. Requirements of Division 0 and Division 1 apply to work of this Section. B. Work Included Include all labor, materials, equipment, transportation and services to complete installation of silicone opacifying coated glass wall cladding as shown on the drawing and herein specified. C. Related Work in Other Sections 1.02 SUBMITTALS 1. Sealants - Section Glazing - Section Gypsum Wall board - Section Painting - Section A. Shop Drawings Submit complete, showing sizes, thicknesses. B. Samples Submit 203mm x 203mm (8"x8") samples of manufacturer's standard colors for Architect's approval, prior to fabrication. C. Warranty PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 MATERIALS A. Glass The opacifying coating will not lose adhesion, flake, peel, chip or develop any noticeable color change for a period of ten (10) years from date of installation. 1. Monolithic wall cladding glass shall be mm (") thick, float glass, with the Page - 1

2 opacifying coating on the number two (inboard) surface. 2. Glass shall be (annealed), (or heat strengthened) or (fully tempered) flat glass in accordance with the current Glass Tempering Association, Engineering Standard Manual. B. Opacifying Coating 1. The opacifying coating shall be a silicone, waterbase, elastomer which will have a minimum wet mil thickness of 13 mills (.013"/.33mm). The silicone rubber material shall be medium modulus, selfextinguishing, and non-corrosive. 2. Approved applicators Applicator shall be trained and certified by Industrial Control Development, Inc. 3. Approved manufacturers OPACI COAT 300, by Industrial Control Development, Inc., NW Third Court, Suite 100, Vancouver, Washington 98685, phone (360) , fax (360) Depending upon the area of use, additional backup material may be required. Backing and reinforcing types of materials may be gypsum, plywood or safety films. C. Adhesive D. Metal PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 Installation 1. Dow Corning #795. The color shall be compatible with the base color to avoid "read through". 2. Substitutions shall be verified with Industrial Control Development, Inc. 1. Metal "T" or "L" section shall be securely fastened to wall material and capable of supporting the weight of the glazing sheet. A. Examine and be responsible for acceptance of surfaces and conditions affecting installation of the material. B. Do not proceed until any unsatisfactory condition has been corrected. Application of any material shall constitute acceptance. C. Surfaces to receive glass panels shall be smooth and thoroughly dry. A primer may be required. 3 D. Cut all glazing sheets square, assure edges are smooth and free of chips and hairline cracks. E. Cut glazing sheets to field measurements. F. Install glazing sheets with 6.35mm (1/4") diameter continuous bead of Dow Corning #795 at 152.4mm (6") on center. Set on mechanically fastened "T" section. "T" section shall be securely fastened to the wall sufficiently to carry the weight of the glazing section. Temporarily support glazing sheets until Dow Corning #795 is adequately cured. G. Apply continuous bead of Dow Corning #795 sealant at all joints for weather seal, where required CLEANING AND PROTECTION A. Glazing Subcontractor Upon completion of glazing, subcontractor shall clean glazing materials from glass and surrounding work and remove all labels. Installation shall be free from scratches. B. General Contractor Final cleaning, as well as protection against damage, shall be the responsibility of the General Contractor. C. Field repairs can be made to coating if required.
