6 REFERENCE: Office Building Ballyogan, Ireland, architecture by Bucholz McEvoy Medical Centre Kirkley Rise, Suffolk Client: Kier Construction The complete superstructure of this large health centre was made from CLT and glulam including stairs and lift shafts. The advantages of fast, safe and dry installation were among the reasons that led Kier Construction to use these innovative materials for this project. 6

7 Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) Cross laminated timber, known as CLT, are large structural timber panels formed from 3 to 7 layers of kiln dried and graded softwood glued in opposing directions. The unique nature of CLT opens up a whole new world of design possibilities its structural capabilities are similar to concrete in material strength, but it is lighter and from a genuinely renewable source. It is being used to form all manner of buildings including schools, health centres, offices and low to mid-rise accommodation, often as part of a hybrid construction using glulam timber. We produce individual components with a length of up to 50m. We set standards in the industry using construction techniques which are so flexible that we can create bearing structures with a clear-span of up to 300m. The entire production process is CNC controlled to guarantee our customers high precision and plenty of architectural freedom with regard to the design.
