VMZ Opus is a comprehensive, eco-designed interior wall facing system in highly technical preweathered zinc (VMZ Strat ), which is both elegant and easy to install, providing architects and installers with an alternative to traditional systems. Each cassette is fixed with its own rail, making it possible to simultaneously adjust the cladding to its support. The cassettes feature the finest flashings (folded corners, beautifully smooth). The variety of formats makes it possible to design vertical or horizontal combinations. Each cassette is independent and can be removed, which makes installation and maintenance easier. Comprehensive system VMZ Opus is a comprehensive system made up of: - zinc cassettes reinforced with flame retardant egg carton - individual fixing rails on each cassette, in galvanised steel, preperforated to facilitate screw-down installation - a range of zinc and galvanised steel flashings. Easy to install Eco-design VMZ Opus was designed to meet the requirements of installers who use ladder installation. This system follows the same principle but has the advantage of lightweight cassettes that are easy to handle even in large formats. The eco-design method consists of including the environmental dimension upstream in the design and development of products. E.g. the ecodesign method used for VMZ Opus, the first eco-designed solution to be marketed by VMZINC, will avoid emitting 227 kg of CO2 equivalents into the atmosphere by 2014! Opus 1

4 Area of use Applications Flat interior facades for all types of buildings, especially collective and commercial buildings The system can be used for new buildings and for renovations For dry rooms. VMZ Opus is a wall facing system for interior vertical walls in dry rooms. Structure The system is installed on solid concrete supporting structures or on supporting brickwork with interior lining. The system applies solely to smooth, vertical walls. Fire classification VMZ Strat zinc (QUARTZ-ZINC, ANTHRA-ZINC and PIGMENTO ) has A2-s1, d0 fire classification, which meets the requirements of the M0 class. The flame retardant egg carton has M1 fire classification. Both zinc and carton have undergone virtual protype testing with the LNE (n L DE/), classification: B-s2, d0, which meets the requirements of the M1 class. Resistance to impacts VMZ Opus cassettes are sensitive to small impacts and scratching. They have a good level of resistance to low-level impacts. Replacement of cassettes is very simple, each cassette can be individually removed. The new cassettes may be slightly different in colour. To avoid this problem, we recommend that you allow for several spare cassettes in your initial order. Maintenance No particular maintenance apart from a soft damp cloth from time to time, taking care not to leave the cassettes damp. Our surface aspects are protected from finger marks but if necessary we recommend using a product like unflavoured petroleumò. Clean in the same direction as rolling direction of zinc. Should it be necessary to clean several cassettes, the differences in aspect that may appear during cleaning will disappear entirely after a few days. Acoustics It is possible to make perforations in the VMZ Opus cassettes to manage acoustic constraints. The layout of perforations and choice of absorbant material applied to the back of the cassette must be defined by an acoustician based on the type of premises (perforation estimations on request). VOC Emission of volatile organic compounds (VOC): the result for VMZ Opus is very positive, with the product scoring an A+, which equals very low emissions. 2 Opus

Each cassette is delivered with its own rail on which it will be hung. The rail is pre-perforated to make fixing easier. They are reinforced with flame retardant egg carton which makes them resilient and smooth and does not affect their light weight. The carton also reduces impact noises. Perforated cassettes are available: With egg carton + black film Without egg carton: for example if you wish to include back-lighting or acoustic insulation. In this case formats and density of perforations must be taken into consideration to avoid deformation of cassettes during installation. Opus 5

8 Installation: general conditions Storage recommendations VMZ Opus cassettes must be stored in their original packaging on a dry floor, imperatively in a dry place or protected by a tarpaulin, and they must be properly ventilated. On delivery, the cassettes are covered on the front with a protective film that preserves the surface aspect during installation. The VMZ Opus system is delivered in 3-metre containers with individual protection of cassettes and flashings. Layout diagram Prior to any installation, the installation company must draw up a precise layout plan to establish the exact position of the framework elements and the quantity of cassettes necessary (length, height, rolling direction), a detailed list of framework components and flashing accessories. It will take the rolling direction of the zinc into account. For large scale projects, special attention should be given to the organisation and planning of installation of the interior facade, in order to define batch deliveries with VMZINC. Qualification of companies (This paragraph does not apply to the installation of 1 to 4 cassettes) The installation company must possess know-how in the area of interior fitting. Special care must be given to dimension measurements and to the installation of the framework. Adjustment/Measurement using laser measurement is recommended. Opus

10 Installation 7 Assemble the VMZ Opus base trim and the base strip 8 Screw the bottom trim and the VMZ Opus baseboard onto the wall 9 Fit the VMZ Opus rail into its cassette 10 Screw VMZ Opus rail with its cassette onto the wall, check vertical adjustment 11 Place a wooden chock between two vertical rows. 12 Remove the wooden chock 8 Opus
