1 SECTION BRIDGE CRANES Part 1 - GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY A. Section Includes: Electrically operated, top-running, single girder bridge crane. B. Related Sections: 1. Section Structural Steel Framing: Crane runway structural support, including columns and beams for crane runway rails. 2. 2 1.4 ACTION SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's technical product data, installation instructions, and recommendations for each product. Include data substantiating that materials comply with specified requirements. B. Shop Drawings: Include the following: 1. Crane component configuration, relationships and installation details. 2. Component size, location and clearance dimensions. 3. Field Measurements: Where indicated to fit to other construction, verify dimensions of other construction by field measurements before fabrication; indicate field-measured dimensions on Shop Drawings. Allow sufficient clearances for operation through entire operating range. Notify Architect of installation conditions that vary from Drawings. Coordinate fabrication schedule with construction progress to avoid delaying the Work. 4. Unit weight and shipping weight. 5. Design entire bridge crane system co meet CMAA specification No. 70, current edition, for Class C service in a non-hazardous environment. Design calculations for crane rails, girders and trucks, sealed by a registered professional engineer. 6. Furnish runway rail mounting and anchorage requirements for coordination with fabricator of structural steel for preparation of rail support beams. 7. Wiring diagrams: For power, signal, and control wiring. 1.5 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS A. Manufacturers' Instructions: For assembly, installation, alignment, adjustment and field testing. B. Operation and Maintenance Manuals: Refer to Section Submittals for number of copies required. Provide complete copies of manufacturer's standard operation and maintenance instructions and recommendations, including but not necessarily limited to illustrated maintenance and repair procedures, parts lists, contact information, wiring diagrams, troubleshooting guides, as-built record drawings, shop and field testing results, and names and contact information for sources of factory authorized service. C. Manufacturer Certificates: Signed by bridge crane manufacturer certifying that layout and dimensions of supporting structure, as shown on Drawings, and electrical service, as shown and specified, are adequate for bridge cranes being provided. D. Qualification Data: For Installer. 1.6 CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS A. Operation and Maintenance Data: For bridge cranes to include in emergency, operation, and maintenance manuals. In addition to items specified in Section "Operation and Maintenance Data," include diagnostic and repair information available to manufacturer's and Installer's maintenance personnel. 1.7 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Manufacturer ofbridge cranes indicated for this Project, and an active producing member of the Crane Manufacturers Association of America (CMAA). BRIDGE CRANES PN# T

3 B. Installer Qualifications: Crane manufacturer, or an authorized representative trained and approved by the manufacturer. 1.8 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A. Deliver materials in undamaged condition in manufacturer's original unopened packaging showing manufacturer's name, product designation on manufacturer's original labeling. Store and handle as recommended by the manufacturer to protect from exposure to the elements, damage and deterioration. 1.9 WARRANTY A. Provide manufacturer's standard written warranty that crane system components will be free of manufacturing defects and conforming to specifications for a minimum of one year from the date of Substantial Completion. PART 2- PRODUCTS 2.1 MANUFACTURER A. Basis of Design: Subject to compliance with requirements and except as otherwise indicated below, provide bridge crane system manufactured by Cranewerks, Inc., Morristown IN; ( ), or substitution approved by the Architect. 2.2 MATERIALS A. Provide bridge crane as indicated on the drawings, and as follows: 1. Type: CMAA Class C, top running, double box girder, wire rope hoist. 2. Nominal lifting capacity: 15 tons. 3. Minimum lift height, floor to hook cradle, when hook is in position below bottom of the box girders: 17 feet 0 inches, unless otherwise indicated on drawings. 4. Nominal span: 67 feet 6 inches, unless otherwise indicated (field verify). 5. Clearance: Low obstruction point above is 23 feet 4 inches AFF (field verify). B. Runway Rails: ASCE 60# with 4 conductor bar system and bolt-on end stops. C. Bridge: 1. Girder(s): Box sections with diaphragms, fabricated from ASTM A36 or ASTM A992 steel plate or structural shapes. Design to resist all vertical, horizontal, and torsional forces. 2. Girders may be of symmetrical or unsymmetrical design (different plate thickness for top and bottom plates and possibly for web plates). 3. Maximum Allowable Girder Deflection: Comply with CMAA standards for the crane type, span and capacity. 4. End Trucks: a. Bolted to Bridge girders, and equipped with rail sweeps and energyabsorbing rubber bumpers. b. Bridge Drive: CMAA A-4 dual motor configuration; bridge soft start 2- speed or variable frequency drive (VFD); 100 fpm maximum travel speed. D. Trolley and Hoist: 1. 4 2. Trolley: a. 2 speed or variable speed; 65 fpm maximum traversing speed. b. Trolley Motor(s): inverter duty Class "F" insulationtenv enclosures. c. Provide safety drop lugs and energy-absorbing bumpers. 3. Hoist: R&M "Spacemaster SX" top running wire rope hoist. a. Speed: 2 speed; 12 and 2.1 fpm lifting speed. b. Hoist Motor(s): IP55 total enclosure, minimum class F insulation, Klixon type bimetal switch thermal protection, 60 percent ED rating. c. Equip hoist with an electro-mechanical load-limiting device to prevent lifting more than 110 percent of the rated load. d. Brake: DC disc type, able to stop and hold over 125 percent of rated load. e. Gearing: AGMA quality class 12 machine cut, hardened and precision ground hoist gearing, lubricated with semi-fluid grease or oil. f. Wire rope: Galvanized steel; minimum safety factor of 5. g. Hook: Forged 34CrMo4QT or 34CrMo6QT alloy steel, fitted with a springloaded or flipper-type safety latch E. Electrical: 1. Power: 460V, 3 phase, 60 Hz, unless otherwise indicated on drawings. 2. All electrical components shall be UL, CSA c/us or BTL labeled. 3. Electrification: Flat wire, festoon on C-track. 4. Collectors: Tandem, 4 conductor. 5. Controls: Provide IP or NEMA enclosures, momentary start and emergency stop. a. Pendant: 6-way, plug-in pushbutton pendant suspended from independent festoon track. Provide applicable two-speed and variable speed controls. Mark hoist, trolley and bridge controls and directions clearly. b. Radio remote control: Wireless unit equal to pendant in function, but capable of being used from any location in the crane's range. 6. Safety Equipment: Provide audible and visual warning devices. 7. Task Lighting: Provide bridge-mounted LED downlightingpowered through the rail for supplementary illumination of work areas below. 8. Size and install all electrical runway conductor system, and all other electrical equipment, components, controls and wiring in accordance with applicable codes and specifications. F. Fasteners: Provide rail mounting anchor bolts, connections and all other fasteners required for complete installation. Where necessary, provide welded connections complying with applicable A WI standards. G. Labeling: Affix manufacturer's corrosion-resistant nameplate in a prominent location where it will be legible. Include manufacturer's name, model and serial numbers, capacity, and the month and year of manufacture. 2.3 FINISHES A. Paint Finishes: Manufacturer's standard corrosion-resistant shop primers and enamel or equivalent finish coats. Paints and coatings shall comply with applicablegreen Seal standards. 1. Bridge Girder: Yell ow in color, unless otherwise indicated or approved. 2. Bridge trucks, trolley, hoist and other items: Manufacturer's standard color(s). 3. Do not paint wheel and rail contact and running surfaces, hoist wire rope, conductor bars, festoon cables and supports, and prefinished or integrally-finished items. BRiDGE CRANES PN# Tl227-0l

5 PART 3- EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Examine alignment of crane runway and track beams, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance. B. Verify critical dimensions. Examine supporting structure, overhead clearances, and other conditions under which the bridge crane will be installed. C. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. Install bridge cranes in complete accordance with manufacturer's design and requirements and approved Shop Drawings. B. Lubricate and adjust operating parts for proper operation as recommended by manufacturers. 3.3 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Inspection: Upon completion of installation and adjustment, obtain inspection by and the approval of the crane manufacturer's representative, who shall witness the field testing specified below, and certify that the installed bridge crane system conforms to manufacturer's standards and Contract requirements. B. Field Testing: 1. Notify Owner and Architect of field testing in advance, and provide test loads. 2. Operate crane equipment loaded to 125 percent of rated capacity through a complete lift and lowering cycle, and through the complete range of bridge and trolley travel. Determine that the cane performs smoothly and safely, and that pendant cable length is sufficient to permit operation from desired floor locations. 3. Correct deficiencies found and repeat the testing to verify satisfactory operation. 4. Prepare written report of testing and results (and remedial action and testing, if necessary), and include with Operations and Maintenance Manual(s). 3.3 DEMONSTRATION A. Instruct Owner's personnel in proper use, operation, and daily maintenance of cranes; train in procedures to follow in identifying sources of operational failures or malfunctions. B. Make a final check of crane operation with Owner's personnel present and before date of Substantial Completion. Determine that systems and devices are functioning properly. 3.4 CLEANING AND PROTECTION A. Examine installed crane system and surrounding area; repair or replace damaged materials and finishes an necessary to restore to new undamaged condition. B.
