01. midas Gen Link 2. Member forces are not imported from midas Gen. Only the member size are imported. When design or checking has been performed in midas Gen, the member forces can be imported in Design+. Depending on the existence of design results and rebar input data, the data to be imported is changed. [pplicable member type: RC - Beam/ Column/ Shear Wall/ Batch Wall, Steel - Beam/ Column] 1) When design has not been performed in midas Gen If design or checking has not been performed in midas Gen, design results do not exist. In this case, member forces and rebar data are not imported in Design+. It is for considering design parameters such as Member Redistribution Factor which are not provided in Design+. By using the identical design member forces, the same design results can be obtained between midas Gen and Design+. Following data can be imported when design or checking has not been performed: Member Name/ Material Properties/ Section Shape/ Section Size Data to be imported without design results midas Design + 5 Solution for Structural Member Design with Drawing & Report
01. midas Gen Link 2) When design has been performed, and rebar data has not been assigned in midas Gen When member design has been performed in midas Gen, the member forces and the rebar data calculated during the design will be exported to Design+. 3) When design/checking has been performed, and rebar data has been assigned in midas Gen When code checking has been performed with assigned rebar data, the member forces with the assigned rebar data will be exported to Design+. 7 01. midas Gen Link 3. How to design a member using the most critical member among the members with the identical section properties? Design+ provides an option to specify which member will be imported. In Link > Link Option menu, if Link Type is selected as Link by Section, the most critical design results among the members assigned with the identical section properties are imported in Design+. Select Click Following data can be imported when Link type is selected as Link by Section option in Link Option dialog box. 1) [RC] Beam, Column, Shear Wall [Steel] Beam/Column The most critical design results are imported based on the design results in midas Gen. 2) [RC] Footing [Steel ] Bolt Connection The absolute maximum design member forces are imported based on the design results in midas Gen. 3) [Steel] Base Plate Specified components or all components (axial, major moment, minor moment) of member forces are imported based on the analysis results in midas Gen. by MX/Min Forces (ll): 6 different load combinations which include maximum and minimum values of axial, major moment, and minor moment are imported. by MX/Min Forces (Selected): Load combinations which include the maximum and minimum values of selected components among axial, major moment, and minor moment are imported. When Link Type is selected as Link by Member option, member forces for the selected member are imported in Design+. midas Design + 7 Solution for Structural Member Design with Drawing & Report
01. midas Gen Link 4. Link for Base Plate design does not work. There are limitations in the link for the Base Plate design such as material type and member size at the bottom. In the following case, Base Plate link is not supported. 1) When the member size of bottom RC column/beam/wall is smaller than the size of top steel section 2) When steel member does not perpendicular or horizontal with the bottom RC column/beam/wall 3) When the material property of bottom member is not RC 4) When there is no support at the bottom of the member if the target member is located at the bottom of the structure 5) When there is brace member [Examples that a link for base plate design is not supported] midas Design + 8 Solution for Structural Member Design with Drawing & Report
01. midas Gen Link 5. Design member forces imported from midas Gen are changed after Design/Checking in Base Plate module. During Design/Checking of Base Plate, the program automatically find the most critical load combination among 6 different load combinations imported from midas Gen. When importing a node for base plate design, 6 different load combinations which contain maximum and minimum member forces of axial, major moment, and minor moment respectively are imported. Once the load combinations are imported, the design force shown in the Force filed corresponds to the 1 st load combination which contains maximum axial force. fter perform base plate design or checking, the program will find the most critical load combination and that design forces will be shown in the Force field. Even though the displayed forces are changed in the dialog box, the program internally verify all the load combinations during design/checking. [Load Combinations before performing Design/ Check] [Load Combinations after performing Design/ Check] midas Design + 9 Solution for Structural Member Design with Drawing & Report
01. midas Gen Link 6. Is Member ssignment definition required for Bolt Connection design Even though Member ssignment is not defined in midas Gen, the program can automatically find the continuous beams. Priority for considering a member for divided elements is as follows: 1) Find members based on the Member assignment information defined in midas Gen. 2) Find girder members based on the vertical member position (column and wall). 3) Find sub-beam members divided by the other sub-beams. The sub-beam which has smaller element ID has priority for the member assignment. Member ssignment Definition Girder Member Sub-beam member Smaller element ID than element 3 [Priority of member assignment] midas Design + 10 Solution for Structural Member Design with Drawing & Report
