4 Before You Finish LaMella Getting Prepared Receive proper training for use and application of Praetorian Products. Read over Praetorian s Urethane Application Supply List for: LaMella Order products and supplies through approved purchasing method. Receive delivery of all product and supplies. Pre-arrange for a required time to allow for prep, application & drytime of LaMella urethane. Notify need-to-know personnel of day and time for the application. Move all furniture and obstacles from the area to be finished. Remove all debris from floor (by vacuum or micro-fiber mop) Special Note: No Acid Etching Required Praetorian has developed a proprietary system with our HydroGrip. HydroGrip, when added to the part A LaMella system, will create a chemically reacted bond to the stone, ceramic or cement surface. Note: Add HydroGRIP to the LaMella Finish before the Part B is added to the Part A Best choice for adhesion promoter to ceramic floors. Checklist: Preparing the Ceramic One of the most critical factors of application is proper preparation. The LaMella system has a complete line of products for successful preparation of the surface. All floors, even when newly installed, require preparation before LaMella is applied. Remove existing finishes Critical for proper adhesion. Treat every floor as if there is some kind of finish on the surface. Ceramic or Concrete Sealers Ceramic sealers remaining will interfere with proper adhesion of LaMella to the surface. Acrylic Finishes Most floors will have acrylic applied. This must be removed before application. Use LiftOFF Remover or PreCept for complete removal of existing finishes. Urethane Damaged and worn urethane should be removed from the surface before LaMella application. See TitanBOOST, U2O Remover, LaMella remover or PreCept Prep & Clean for most suitable product use. Note: if in doubt of what is on the surface, acrylic or urethane. Put a small sample of LiftOFF and U2O Remover on the surface. If the existing finish, under the Lift- OFF turns murky, then there is acrylic on the surface. If the existing finish, under the U2O begins to wrinkle, then more than likely it is urethane. Clean the Grout Follow instructions for PreCept or LaMella Grout Cleaner. Form 6023I340

5 Grout Preparation & Cleaning Cleaning With PreCept Grout Cleaner Be sure all old finishes are removed before you begin cleaning with PreCept Grout Cleaner. 1. Dust mop the floor. 2. Pour one quart of PreCept Grout Cleaner into one gallon of water. 3. Stir the mixture. 4. Flood the Floor with the diluted PreCept Grout Cleaner. 5. Distribute the solution evenly across the floor with a microfiber mop. 6. Allow the solution to dwell 20 minutes on surface. Note: Do not allow the solution to dry on the surface, rewet/apply as needed 7. Scrub the floor using a stiff brush or low speed floor machine, equipped with brush. 8. Extract the solution from the floor 9. Rinse with clean water. 10. Extract clean water 11. Final rinse with CLN-100 (1oz gal) to cut remaining chemicals. 12. Repeat until floor is free of chemical residue and is ph neutral. 13. Allow the floor and grout to dry completely before proceeding to next step. Form 6036J009

6 Acrylic Strip-Out Stripping An Acrylic Floor Finish Stripping with LiftOff, Launch or PreCept Acrylic Remover Chemically strip all existing acrylic floor finishes or factory finishes, proper preparation is critical. Remember, whatever is remaining on the floor will affect the appearance and possibly the integrity of the new Prætorian finish. Application: 1. Use Launch, LiftOff or PreCept Acrylic Remover to remove an existing acrylic finish or original factory finish. Carefully pour diluted solution on floor and spread evenly with a flat mop. Allow solution to dwell for minutes. 2. Work the entire surface with a low speed machine, loosening and removing all existing finish on the floor. 3. With a scraper and a doodle bug pad, work the corners and edges, removing all built-up finish. 4. Follow behind, after low speed machine, with a floor machine to extract stripped floor finish. 5. Rinse floor using Prætorian s CLN-100 or PreCept Daily Neutral Cleaner, mixing ½ oz. per gallon of water or 1-2 oz. for a heavy duty clean. 6. Follow up with one clean water rinse. 7. Allow floor to thoroughly dry. Use air movers (pointed upwards) to speed the drying process. Breakdown and Coverage Launch LiftOff PreCept Acrylic Remover 1:4 ratio, 32 Ounces per gallon of cool water. 1:6 Ratio, 32 ounces per 1 1/2 gallons of cool water 1:8 Ratio, 32 ounces per (2) gallons of cool water. Coverage: up to 1600 sq. ft. per gallon Coverage: up to 2400 sq. ft. per gallon Coverage: up to 3200 sq. ft. per gallon Form 6025I340

7 LaMella Mixing Process 1. Open Part A container. Sediment is expected and will need to be mixed. 2. Mix with a stir stick, bringing product off the bottom of the pail into suspension again. 3. With HydroGRIP: Pour HydroGRIP into a premeasured container; 8oz for gallon kit, 4oz for half-kit, into Part A and mix thoroughly. Note: if not adding HydroGRIP move on to step 4. HydroGrip is not necessary when going over existing urethane. 4. Open Part B and pour the entire contents of Part B into Part A. Take time to get as much as possible out of the Part B can. 5. Mix Part A and Part B for 3-4 minutes, scraping the side of the container ensuring both parts are mixed completely together. NOTE: There will be a change in the appearance while the Part B is being stirred, appearing more whitish in appearance and the mixture should rise in viscosity. 6. Reduce immediately with pre-measured Part C, after Part A and Part B are completely blended together. 7. Stir thoroughly, continually scraping the sides of the container moving any build up. Mix for at least three (3) minutes. While mixing in the reducer the viscosity will decrease. LaMellaTM Mixing Process NOTE: No induction time is needed after all parts are blended. Product total Pot-Life will be decreased to up to two (2) hours. Excessive heat, above 77 F, will exponentially further decrease product pot-life. Form 6037J009

8 Application & Technique Application Technique and Process 1. Pour contents of 1/2 of the gallon mixture into roller tray. It is important to maintain the level of the product in the tray, lower than the half way point on the roller end caps. Over filling the tray will result in excessive dripping from the roller. 2. Roll dry roller into mixture several times back and forth. This is to sufficiently wet out the dry roller. 3. Start with cutting in along edges with a 4 mini-roller cover. Do not get too far ahead of the person rolling out the main area of the floor. A wet edge must be maintained. Note: When applying on grouted tile, it is important to not allow the LaMella to pool or build heavy in the grout lines. This will result in outgassing. 4. Roll soaked roller out onto start spot. Never roll a partially wet roller on the surface. Dry rolling the surface will cause the coating to dry too fast, thus causing a tight orange peel appearance. The best indication of dry rolling is listening to how the product rolls. If a hiss sound is evident, dip the roller again, this is dry roll. 5. Visually designate work each roller dip approximately two roller widths wide. Use tile lines as start and stop points; keep mindful of ending points. The target wet mils application is 4-5 mils. 6. First, work the product in a back and forth vertical motion. It is not necessary to press the roller hard into the floor. Hold the roller gently, allowing it to glide with each roller motion. By doing this, the proper wet mils thick are more easily achieved 7. Second, in the same area, come back into the roller product at a horizontal direction. By doing this, you are insuring roller edge marks smooth out more evenly and it will also give added assurance in not ending up with holidays, caused by dips in the floor. It is important to work quickly enough to always maintain a wet edge on the start and stop areas. Some rooms may be too large for one person rolling and maintaining a wet edge. These situations should be analyzed ahead of the start time. 8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 until floor is complete. 9. Remove Blue Tape immediately after completing the floor roll-out. Waiting until the floor is dry will cause the tape to dry into the coated floor. 10. Fans may be added after two(2) hours of dry time, to speed the dry time. 11. Average dry time is approximately 6 hours. Dry times may vary depending upon air flow, temperature, humidity and /or dew points. Form 6038J009

9 Applying StepStone Applying StepStone STEP-Stone Sealer penetrates the surface, coating with superior durability and stain protection, outlasting typical stone sealers. Before you begin applying StepStone the floor must be completely clean, dry, etched (if applicable), neutralized and free of any other floor maintenance products Begin by opening Part A. Pour in Activator. Re-cover lid and Shake container gently for 2-3 minutes. Pour Part A and Part B into garden-type sprayer. Flood coat area. Note: Do not pool STEP-Stone Sealer. Allow surface to dry completely before second coat, when the surface no longer feels tacky to the touch. Note: Dry times will vary based on temperature, humidity, and the amount of product needed to sufficiently coat the surface. Estimates for Calculating STEP-Stone application coverage will vary based on the porosity of the surface and method of application. Very Porous SF, per first coat SF, per second coat. Tighter/Denser Profile SF, per first coat SF, per second coat. Form 6041J029

10 Applying Grout Color Before You Apply Color Before applying grout color be sure the floor is well cleaned with PreCept Grout Cleaner and CLN-100. When the grout has been well cleaned and grout color is still desired follow the instructions bellow. Stir or shake colorant until well blended. Tools Required Toothbrush and/or mini roller frame and cover Grout color Microfiber mops and clean rags CLN-100 Neutral cleaner Low speed machine 60 grit sanding screens Wet/Dry vac Brush Line Method for 4x4 or larger 1. Lay a bead by squeezing grout color evenly onto grout lines. 2. With a tooth brush, scrub grout color evenly into the grout. Roll on Method for 3x3 or smaller 1. Pour grout color on the surface of the floor. 2. Spread by rolling out with a 4 or 6 hotdog roller, work into grout. Clean-Up 3. Allow grout color to dry for minutes 4. Prepare tools for removal of excess grout color from the surface. The tools used will be dependent on the size of the room. Equip the following with 60 grit sanding screens. For small rooms, edging, and around obstacles hand tools will be necessary. For larger more open areas a low speed or square scrub floor machine. 5. Flood the floor with water 6. Hand or machine tool the surface of the tiles. Ride over the surface of the tiles, avoiding dipping into the grout lines. 7. Wet Vacuum the floor 8. Repeat steps 5-7, until all color is removed from the tile surface. 9. Hand tool the grout edge line slightly down the ridge of where the tile meets the grout. 10. Flood the floor again with CLN-100 Neutral Cleaner, reduced 1oz. per gallon. 11. Wet vacuum thoroughly, removing all pooling water from grout lines. 12. Allow the floor to dry an additional 60 minutes or more. Use fans to speed the drying process. 13. After thoroughly dry, with a clean damp micro-fiber mop, mop and cross mop the floor again, removing any remaining dust. 14. The floor is now ready for LaMella and HydroGRIP. Grout Color Coverage: Grout coverage may change depending on width and depth of grout line. 2x2 Tiles average approximately 25 SF per 8oz 4x4-12x12 Tiles average approximately 100 SF per 16-32oz Packaged: 16 oz Spouted Bottle or 1 gal bulk. 11 Cleaning and Floorcare Instructions for Deep Cleaning Restrooms On occasion, it is necessary to clean with something that has a little extra power, for example; greasy dirt, built-up grim in the surface, due to high traffic or cleaner residue in the surface. The recommended cleaner and steps are as follows. 1. Close Restroom to normal use utilizing proper signage approved by building guidelines. 2. Begin by removing any debris from the area to be cleaned with a dust mop, soft broom or vacuum. 3. Mix CLN-200 Degreaser Cleaner; follow mix ratios and directions according to the level of contaminants and dirt. Light ½ oz. to gallon water Medium 1 oz. per gallon Heavy 2 oz. per gallon 4. Flood mop the solution on the floor and let stand 5-10 minutes to allow the cleaner to break down the dirt/soil on the floor. 5. Using a soft bristle brush or small broom, thoroughly scrub the entire area to remove all soil built up in the grout lines and edges. 6. Repeat steps 3-5, as needed. 7. Once clean, use a wet vacuum to extract the standing water/ cleaning solution thoroughly. 8. CLN-200 will leave a slight surface residue; the floor will need a follow-up rinse. Mix CLN-100 Daily Neutral Cleaner at a dilution ratio of ½ oz. per gallon of water. 9. Flood mop the solution on the floor to allow the cleaner to break down CLN-200 surface residue. 10. Extract or mop all cleaner residue form the surface. 11. Damp mop or auto-scrub with clean water. 12. Inspect floor to ensure all remaining cleaner residue is removed. 13. Allow floor to completely dry; use a fan dry if needed. 14. Reopen restroom for use. Form 6039J009
