4 Award Wining Eco Friendly Container Home Project located in Flagstaff Arizona. When completed this 2,000 SQFT Shipping Container Home received an Award from the Coconino County Sustainable Building Program. The House layout includes two Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, a Home Office and Home Studio Space a Storage Room, and even a small Green House. The House is positioned on 40 x concrete piers and is orientated due South so that is would fit into a narrow Urban Infill lot that was designated as Flood Plain. The Jones-Glotfelty House harvests Rain Water from the Roof and generates 3.6 kw of on-grid solar power for Household Use.

The interior is furred with steel lumber in the walls and wood lumber in the ceilings. Plumbing and electric are inside the furred walls just like traditional construction.

The internal walls and floor are insulated with closed-cell foam, and the ceilings with recycled denim, providing R values of The exterior is coated with SuperTherm ceramic coating, which reflects heat and cold, helps prevent condensation, and provides a durable custom-color finish. The roof was sprayed with foam and covered with an impermeable membrane and sand finish. The windows and glass doors are thermally broken aluminum dual pane. Kalwall insulated fiberglass walls allow additional daylight in the main atrium space.

15 Water and Solar Collection The upper story collects both water and solar power for residential use. A water harvesting system, designed by TBKA Landscape Architects and installed by Northern Arizona Pump, employs gutters on the upper story to direct water into two large tanks and can be pumped to landscape areas. The rest of the water from the site, including the lower roofs, is directed via the grading plan to landscaping areas, which will feature indigenous, low water use plantings. Planting areas are defined by recycled broken concrete or urbanite, collected from this and other neighborhood construction sites. A 3.6 kw on-grid solar system designed and installed by AEA Inc. is expected to meet the household s total electric needs.

In-floor radiant heat using a highefficiency dedicated gas water heater additionally heats the main space. Heat from both sources rises to warm the lofted second floor through large openings. Several high-efficiency electric heaters located in key areas such as bathrooms provide additional warmth as needed. Windows, a skylight, and fans control overheating and provide ventilation. Additionally, shading systems will help keep the temperature comfortable in summer months without air conditioning.
