8 Moisture in Concrete Every manufacturer of floor covering has specific statements regarding the moisture content of the substrate to receive their flooring and the proper method of moisture testing. TRU polished system requires NO moisture testing

9 ASTM F 710 Standard practice for preparing concrete floors to receive resilient flooring Dry, clean, smooth, and structurally sound. Free of dust, solvent, paint, wax, oil, grease, residual adhesive, adhesive removers; curing, sealing hardening, or parting compounds; alkaline salts, excessive carbonation or laitance, mold, mildew, and other foreign materials that might prevent adhesive bond Relative Humidity [ASTM F2170] 75% or less Calcium chloride moisture tests [ASTM F 1869]; results should be 3 lbs or less or resilient flooring manufacturer s recommendations Alkalinity testing; maximum ph of 10 Don t use adhesive removers. 33 Placing the TRU 1. Always pour mixed material on top of wet material.

34 Placing the TRU 2. Use Gauge Rake to screed to desired thickness

35 Placing the TRU Use the appropriate size CAM for the desired depth of the floor. ( 5/16 ) #2 CAM ( 2/16 = 1/8 )

36 Finishing the TRU Either use a smoother trowel Or a porcupine roller.

38 Joints in Concrete Honor Expansion / Isolation Joints separate the slab from other parts of a structure Typically ¼ inch wide or more Control / Contraction Joints grooved, formed, or sawed into slab so cracking will occur in these joint rather than in a random manner. Generally 25% depth of the slab.
