3 R PV SHINGLE ROOFING (SHR) Simple installation and a perfet math with asphalt shingles and slates UNI-SOLAR PV shingles permit roofs of ommerial and residential buildings to evolve from mere protetion from the weather to a soure of eletri power. 4 METAL ROOFING (SSR) A ombination of arhitetural styling with the strutural performane and durability of Al-Zn oated (Aluzin or Galvalume ) steel. 8 Tehnology All UNI-SOLAR PV produts use the unique Triple Juntion solar ells of United Solar System Corp. This proprietary Triple Juntion tehnology provides unpreedented levels of effiieny for thin film silion solar ells. Eah ell is omposed of three semiondutor juntions staked on top of eah other. The bottom ell absorbs the red light, the middle ell the Film Layer green/yellow light and the top ell absorbs the blue light. This spetrum splitting apability is the key to higher effiienies and higher energy output, espeially at lower irradiation levels and under diffuse light. The ells are produed in a rollto-roll vauum deposition proess on a ontinuous roll of stainless Red Cell Bak Refletor Flexible Stainless Steel Substrate steel sheet, employing only a fration of the materials and energy of the prodution of standard rystalline silion solar ells. The result is a unique, flexible, lightweight Green Cell Blue Cell Transparent Condutive Oxide Film Thikness of omplete Multi-Juntion Cell: < 1.0 µm ell. The solar ells are enapsulated in UV-stabilised and weatherresistant polymers. The polymer enapsulation inludes EVA and t h e fluoropolymer TEFZEL (a Du Pont film) on the front side. The laminated solar ells are bonded to onventional roofing panels or fabriated into flexible roofing shingles. The resulting m o - dules are exeptionally durable. By-pass diodes are onneted aross eah ell, allowing the modules to produe power even when partially shaded. Eah module (exept SHR-17) has either a weather resistant juntion box, designed to aept 1.7 mm onduits or a Multi- Contat (MC) juntion box with MC-ables and onnetors. These modules are appropriate for all appliations from simple single module requirements to high voltage gridonneted appliations. Higher outdoor performane UNI-SOLAR produts perform better than all their rystalline silion and other thin film ounterparts under non-ideal orientations and under real outdoor onditions (higher kwh energy prodution per kwp purhased). This enhaned performane, up to 0 % higher, an be attributed to the higher sensitivity for low light onditions and for diffuse light, better performane at high temperatures and improved shadow tolerane of UNI-SOLAR produts. All solar modules are sold with their peak power performane (Wp) tested under laboratory onditions (STC): i.e. under a very high and diret irradiation (1000 W/m ), a module temperature of 5 C, and only one type of solar spetrum (AM1.5; mainly diret irradiation). Under real outdoor onditions, this peak power is seldom ahieved, sine module temperature usually is more in the range of C under illumination (espeially true for modules that are building integrated), the hours of 1000 W/m irradiation is only about 1 % of 8 total sun-hours and the spetral ontent of the solar spetrum hanges ontinuously with varying limati onditions. Diffuse light dominates when the sky is louded Relative effiieny 1,4 UNI-SOLAR 1, > 40 % STC 1 0,8 Crystalline Silion 0,6 0,4 0, Irradiane (W/m ) or during mornings and evenings. In Northern and Central Europe, the majority of solar irradiation omes from diffuse light (more than 50 % of all solar irradiation), and even in Madrid, the diffuse part is, on average, still 33 %. Outdoor testing has shown that UNI-SOLAR PV-produts perform 40 % better at low light onditions ( W/m ), than all present rystalline tehnologies. In Northern and Central European limates, where low light onditions and diffuse light prevail, this results in 10-0 % higher yearly energy output per Wp purhased power for UNI-SOLAR produts ompared to all rystalline (and other thin film) tehnologies. In warm, southern limates suh as in Southern Europe, performane and yearly energy harvest is also 0 % higher, in this ase due to the better temperature behaviour. Eletrial speifiations (+/- 10 %) are based on measurements performed at standard test onditions of 1000 W/m irradiane, Air Mass 1.5 and Cell Temperature of 5 C after longterm stabilisation. Performane may vary up to 10 % from rated power due to low temperature operation, spetral and related effets. During initial 8-10 weeks of operation, UNI-SOLAR PV-produts have higher eletrial output than rated output. The output power may be higher by 15 %, the operating voltage may be higher by 11 % and the operating urrent may be higher by 4 %. In some appliations, this initial power bonus must be onsidered when sizing power system omponents suh as wiring, inverters and swithgear. Inverters for UNI-SOLAR PV-Produts. BESS EUROPE advises only to use inverters with a galvani separation between AC and DC side (i.e. inverters having a transformer). The maximum open iruit voltage V OC at -10 C and 150 W/m irradiation per module should be used as the design voltage to alulate string voltage(s) fed into the inverter(s). It is further reommended to take into aount the higher power output of UNI-SOLAR PV-modules during initial 8-10 weeks of operation of the system. In order to harvest as muh as possible from the DC-energy generated by the UNI-SOLAR PV-modules as AC-energy, inverters should have a fairly onstant effiieny urve with respet to inoming solar energy. European Conversion Effiieny of the inverter should be typially higher than or equal to 94 %. And more importantly, the inverter should still have a fairly high onversion effiieny, also for very weak irradiation levels as low as 40 W/m (orresponds to 4 % of rated DC-power of the modules). Several inverters on the market simply do not swith on before at least 10 % of the rated DC-power of the string to whih they are onneted, is reahed. Positive results have been reahed with the following types of inverters: Fronius (whole range), SMA (whole range, exept the SunnyBoy 000), ASP. This list is of ourse far from exhaustive. Supply of omplete turn-key UNI-SOLAR PV-Systems. For large projets (min. size 0 kwp), BESS EUROPE offers omplete UNI-SOLAR PV-Systems inluding: system design and engineering, inverters, DC-abling, support strutures (in ase of rigid framed panels) or Aluzin steel metal roofing, mehanial installation of the PV-system (metal roof installation if appliable) and eletrial installation of the PV-system. 11
