6 ANTI FUNGAL & ANTI ALGAE + CERTIFIED CONCRETE PROTECTION Jotashield WaterXtreme contains a non-hazardous, high quality dry film preservative which hinders the growth of algae and fungi on your walls, preventing them from getting black spots and patches. Jotashield WaterXtreme comes with concrete protection properties. Its anti-carbonation formulation cuts the ingress of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) into the concrete, thus lowering the possibility of concrete carbonation. The paint film can breath, which allows free passage of moisture vapour from the substrate into the atmosphere. Another feature supporting this is the flexibility of the paint film that has good crack-bridging properties. It prevents the ingress of Carbon Dioxide (CO2), water and chlorides that can pass through cracks. 7 APPLICATION METHODOLOGY Recommended use: For exterior use on most surfaces i.e. cement plaster, concrete, cement sheeting and rendered block work. Side wall application: 1) Surface preparation for side/vertical walls: Newly plastered surfaces should be properly cured and dried for a minimum period of 21 days to 28 days (depending on the climatic conditions) before you start the painting work. Remove all the loosely adhered particles, dirt, dust, efflorescence (white powdery deposits) etc. by a scraper or an abrasive stone followed by a thorough water wash using a nylon brush or pressure jet and allow the surface to dry completely. Any algae, fungus or moss on external walls should be completely removed and the area should be treated with a bio-wash. Fill the holes, cracks and joints with cement and sand mixture or suitable crack fillers/ expansion fillers depending on the nature of the crack. If there is any dampness due to water leakage in any of the plastered surfaces, it should be rectified at the source before starting the painting work. The compatibility of any third party filling material, if used, shall be confirmed with a Jotun technical person before application. 2) Base Coat: On a surface freshly plastered/previously painted with premium quality exterior emulsions, apply one coat of Jotashield WaterXtreme Base Coat (max. 5% dilution with water) with a spreading rate of 40 sq. ft./ltr. 3) Top Coat: Apply 2 coats of Jotashield WaterXtreme Top Coat - Silk (max. 10% dilution with water) with a spreading rate of sq. ft./ltr./2 coats. Please ensure 6-8 hours of drying time between 2 coats. Horizontal/roof application: The surface must be clean, dry and free from dust & other contaminants. Ensure adequate civil repairs are carried out on all affected areas. Thereafter, use 1 coat of Jotashield Penetrating Primer to seal the surface. Ensure all cracks and holes are filled using Jotashield WaterXtreme Base Coat as a filler. Apply a full coat of Jotashield WaterXtreme Base Coat without dilution by roller, starting approx. 15 cms from the vertical wall downwards from the roof area. In order to achieve the best results, a laminated system of Jotashield WaterXtreme Base Coat/Glassfibre matting should be used, with the Glassfibre being embedded into the first coat of Jotashield WaterXtreme Base Coat while still wet. Allow it to dry for 6-8 hours before applying second coat of Jotashield WaterXtreme Base Coat. Spreading rate sq. ft./ltr./coat. STIR THOROUGHLY BEFORE USE. Application: Spray Brush Roller Dilution: Base coat: Water (max. 5% by volume) Top coat: Water (max. 10% by volume) Conditions during application: The temperature of the substrate should be maximum 10 C and minimum 3 C above the dew point of the air temperature and relative humidity measured in vicinity of the substrate. Paints tinted from multicolour bases may vary in quality depending on colour choice. Other surfaces: The coating may be used on other substrates.
