5 1.1 Fall Protection by XSPlatforms Maximum safety does not need to be complicated. This is one of XSPlatforms core values. People who work at heights, whether on a long-term project or a short inspection job, must be confident that they are safe. Ensuring this safety does not necessarily require complicated, elaborate installation methods. In fact the opposite is true. Guardrails from XSPlatforms are designed to ensure that safety when working at heights is not compromised. 3 XTP Installation Manual - Version 3.0 Fall Protection

6 The XTP-Guardrail range The guardrails allow independent working, without the use of personal protection equipment. The guardrails can be installed on almost any type of roof structure. They are installed as a safeguard in places where working at heights implies risks. Risks are minimized, and the ability to work at the required height is not compromised. 12 Why use fall protection? - Applications Risks when working at heights are still underestimated. According to figures from the United States Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration 1) and the European Commission of Employment and Social Affairs, Department of Health and Safety at Work 2), fatal falls are still an everyday risk for workers, with at least 1,200 fatal falls annually. Fatal falls alone account for more of 20 to 50 meters (65.6 to 164 feet). The reason is simple: it has to do with perceptions of safety. When workers feel safe or not immediately unsafe, they see little if any danger of falling and are less observant. When work is performed on elevated surfaces such as roofs, protection against falls must be considered. A reasonable assessment of the dangers should be made in which legal stipulations must also be respected! inspection. It is always important for the user to take a thorough and critical look at the equipment that is going to be used and to review its reliability. Fall arrest systems are designed and manufactured to meet both industry specifications and safety requirements. For the safety and health of the employee, the employer is required to use the correct equipment and include training and education in its use and safety. However, the employee is 1) 2) than 15% of work-related fatal responsible for the care and use of accidents. Accidents often happen Selecting fall arrest systems requires the equipment. when the risks seem to be minimal an analysis of performance specifi- and in fact they are not. There are cations. 13 2.1 Legislation, practical use and pricing Choosing a fall arrest system depends on three main points: legislation, practical use and pricing Legislation and regulations These depend on the whereabouts in the world and applicable legislation. The legislation is designed to protect the worker at risk. The starting point is always to minimize or avoid the possibilities of a fall in the first place. If risks cannot be avoided, a thorough risk assessment must be carried out and the equipment needed to perform the job in a safe manner must be used. Practical use Everyday use is not the same as complying with legislation and regulations. Ease of use is a safety feature that must not be underestimated. The reason for this is that it is human nature to take short cuts. If a fall arrest system is not easy to use, the temptation not to use it at all increases every time it is used. This is not the point of a fall arrest system. A worker therefore has to be properly trained, and then has to be securely connected to a fall arrest system that does not limit the ability to actually do the job. XSPlatforms designs its fall protection systems with two main goals: safety at heights, and everyday ease of use. XTP-Guardrails are suitable for almost any situation where fall protection is needed, always tailored to the job at hand. Pricing A fall arrest system has to be the right one for the roof or structure. Pricing is relevant when there are multiple choices. The pricing of our XTP product range is very competitive, there are almost no maintenance costs and it is easy to adjust. 11 XTP Installation Manual - Version 3.0 Fall Protection

14 Installation substrate material XTP-Guardrails can be installed on various types of roofs, working platforms and technical terraces with slopes between 0 and 15. Suitable for almost all roof types, XTP-Fixed, XTP-Curved and XTP-Flex can be installed directly on the roof without any need to drill into the roof and without affecting its waterproofing. XTP-Wall Fixed and XTP-Parapet Fixed can be mounted on the ledge of the roof in the parapet wall. Fall Protection XTP Installation Manual - Version 3.0

17 4.1 Recognizability and traceability 15 Recognizability XSPlatforms continually expand their product range, so the products need to be clearly recognizable. Our XSPlatforms logo performs this function. Under our logo there is the name of the product group, in this case Fall Protection. Next to the logo and group name there is of course the product name and the product line. The XSPlatforms guardrail product line is called XTP, which stands for XS To Prevention. The pictures show examples of the XTP-Curved, XTP-Flex and XTP-Fixed systems. The logos are stuck on or imprinted using laser technology. Traceability Safety is one of our core values. Our products are produced with the greatest possible care. The components and materials used are thoroughly tested and checked; materials are certified to meet the standards for use in our products. However, despite the thorough testing and checks performed before and after production, we go one step further. XSPlatforms gives every product its own production number in combination with the production date to make it possible to identify the production series. This lets us control quality. The space between the hand rail and the knee rail is less than 500 mm (1 7 11/16 ). When the uprights are freestanding, a counterweight needs to be installed at the ends of each upright to stabilize the system. Fall Protection XTP Installation Manual - Version 3.0
