Eco-friendly quarrying To the north west of the Iberian Peninsula lies Galicia, home to the world s finest natural slate deposits. Here, a unique geology has formed Galician slate to perfection over 500 million years. This remarkable process has created a highly resilient slate with exceptional weathering properties. It is fireproof, waterproof and resistant to extreme temperatures and climatic conditions. Imbued with natural colour and character as well as strength, Spanish slate is the roofing material of choice. The ultimate slatequarrying process Rinus has been working with leading Galician slate quarries since Natural Spanish slate is organic and environmentally friendly. The quarrying process does not involve chemicals and local water is normally used to cool cutting tools, reducing the carbon footprint. All Rinus slates come from quarries with strong environmental credentials. After quarrying has finished, local development programmes make sure the landscape and ecology are restored as closely as possible to their original state. Our representatives are on hand to make sure the high quality of the natural slate is reflected at every stage of the quarrying process. Colour, thickness and size are carefully controlled. The slates are selected and hand-finished to the highest standards before being packed into fumigated wood pallets for extra protection in transit. Introducing the Rinus Natural Spanish slate range The Rinus range offers a choice of three slates: Rinus Toledo, Rinus Cordoba and Rinus Escocia all available in a number of sizes. Whilst all three ranges are blue/grey or blue/black in colour, their different textures, thicknesses and finishes give each slate a unique appearance. Its texture and slight sheen give it an attractive, rustic appearance that will bring character to any roof. The slates are split into an average thickness of 6mm.
