Access into the interior of the buildings was provided and interior spaces and features were observed. 2. All existing retaining walls shall be demolished 3. All asphalt is to be included in items to be demolished 4. Application to the Ware Heath Department for septic system removal is included as part of this addendum. The application shall be filled out by the contractor and the septic system demolished and removed. 5. Partially filled fuel tanks within the building shall be pumped empty. The oil and tanks shall be removed and deposed of in a legal manner. 6. Clearing, grubbing and stump removal shall occur within the work area set forth on the plan. 7. Coordinate with the Owner to allow the Owner to have the furthest extent of demolition surveyed prior to back filling or grading. The silt fence per section 02217, 2.04 shall be constructed at the limit of work line. 8. SPECIFICATION MODIFICATIONS: The following modifications, amendments, deletions and additions shall be made to the Demolition Specifications for the Ware Fire Headquarters site, West Street, Ware, Massachusetts specifications and drawings (Contract Documents), additional are bolded (bold); omissions are italicized (italicized); words or sentences to be removed are struck out (struck out): INTENT OF REVISIONS: 1. In general, it is the intent of this modification to eliminate the provisions of demolition contractor supplied gravel fill. The contractor shall utilize on-site materials to backfill excavations and foundation holes to create a uniformly sloped site, once all demolition has been completed. The minimum slope shall be 2:1 (horizontal to vertical). Areas that are generally level shall be maintained that way. No naturally occurring, clean, sands and gravels shall be removed from the site as part of this demolition contract.

2 Page 2 of 2. It is the Owner s intent to permit the re-use of asphalt pavement, brick and concrete (ABC) as supplemental materials for future construction. BASE BID CRITERIA SHALL ASSUME THAT ALL EXISTING ASPHALT PAVEMENT AND BASE COURSES, BRICK AND CONCRETE SHALL BE USEABLE FOR SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIALS, AFTER BE PROCESSED BY THE DEMOLITION CONTRACTOR AND REMAIN STOCKPILED ON SITE. The base bid shall not assume that reinforcing steel, brackets, fasteners, wood framing, glass or other debris shall remain on site. Such materials shall be removed at the Demolition Contractor s cost and in accordance with the specifications. Section02070 DEMOLITION: ADD the following sub-section, 1.2 WORK INCLUDED:, A TO C, modify as follows: 1.2 WORK INCLUDED A. This Contract includes the demolition and removal of all buildings, fire escapes, steel guards, platforms, steps, wood, metal framing, ramps, bituminous and concrete paving and pads, building walls and other structures, retaining walls, septic systems, surface pipe, all subsurface structures, and all related items necessary in the opinion of the Town to perform and complete such work. All of the above is a part of the Contract unless specifically excepted. Bituminous concrete pavement, brick and concrete (pads, walls and slabs) are intended to remain on site after processing to be used for future construction. B. Except as otherwise shown or stipulated, it is the intent to include under this Contract the demolition and removal of all existing construction of every description which at present exists and extends above and below the ground level, including boilers, septic tanks and leaching (field or pit) components, fuel tanks, all rubble and to fill cellar holes with compacted clean on-site bankrun sand and gravel with an 8 thick final layer of clean, sharp, fine sifted sand free from all stones and organic matter or other debris, Do not use any rubble to fill cellar holes. Leave existing fences around site, where shown on Drawings. Remove all concrete slabs on grade wherever found. C. Completely demolish all foundations, slabs, footings and other below grade structures except as otherwise specified, and removed from site. It is the intent to remove all unsuitable site materials from within the limit of prospective construction and replace them with structural fill clean on-site bankrun sand and gravel suitable for immediate use as an undisturbed sub base for all new construction. REPLACE ADD the following sub-section, 2.05, A, Graded Gavel with A., ABC Rubble, to read A. ABC Rubble: Asphalt Pavements, Brick and Concrete Rubble shall meet the requirements of MassDOT Section 403, Reclaimed Base Course, subject to the following: 1. The material is tested to meet the criteria of MassDOT Section 403. Testing shall be conducted by the Owner s Agent to demonstrate compliance. 2. The demolition contractor shall supply representative samples of existing, on-site asphalt pavements, brick and concrete for laboratory testing. The contractor shall anticipate a minimum of two calendar weeks for the assessment of this material. Accommodations for the stockpiling and stabilization of this material shall be made as part of the base bid. 3. If it is material is tested to meet the specified criteria, it shall then be processed, by on-site crushing, grinding and sifting to meet MassDOT Section Processed ABC Rubble shall be stored on-site stabilized and protected stockpiles in a location that will not affect future construction. Such location shall be coordinated with the Architect prior to initiation of processing.

3 Page 3 of ADD the following sub-section, 2.6. PRE-CAST CONTRETE BARRIERS (Jersey Barriers), to add the following subsection, D. D. Jersey Barriers shall remain in place throughout the duration of the contract and shall become the property of the Owner. They shall not be removed by the demolition contractor. MODIFY the following Section as noted: 3.9 FILLING AND LEVELING A. The requirements of the General Laws, Chapter 143, Section 3, as amended which state in part as follows: shall require the lot to be leveled to uniform grade by a proper sanitary fill to cover any cellar or foundation holes and any rubble not removed. These requirements shall be the minimum standard, see Site Plan requirements for specific post-demolition filling, compaction and grading. B. Areas connected to the basements of buildings to be demolished including utility or passage tunnels which, in the opinion of the Town, constitutes a hazard shall be broken up. C. Demolish and remove all interior partitions, foundation walls, walls of areas connected with cellars or basements and cellar floors. Perimeter foundation walls which are essential to the support of existing sidewalks shall not be demolished or disturbed. D. Repair any sidewalk, curb, or pavement surface which has been damaged or destroyed during the demolition operations. Said repairs to sidewalk or pavement surface shall be accomplished by applying bituminous concrete or regular concrete, as applicable, in a manner satisfactory to the Town. E. Make such repairs to said sidewalk and/or street surfaces as soon as it is feasible or when directed to do so by the Town. F. Samples and Testing 1. All demolished material to be processed or crushed for re-use fill material and its placement shall be subject to quality control testing. A qualified laboratory will be selected by the Owner to perform tests on materials. All costs of testing will be paid for by the Owner. Test results and laboratory recommendations shall be available to the Architect. 2. Provide samples of each fill material from the proposed source of supply including on-site sources. Allow sufficient time for testing and evaluation of results before material is needed. Submit samples from alternate source if required. 3. Architect will be sole and final judge of suitability of all material. 4. The laboratory will determine maximum dry density and optimum water content in accordance with A.S.T.M. D-1557, Method D and the in-place density in accordance with A.S.T.M. D Tests of material as delivered may be made from time to time. Materials in question may not be used, pending test results. Test of compacted materials will be made regularly. Remove rejected materials and replace with new, whether in stockpiles or in place. 6. Cooperate with laboratory in obtaining field samples of in-place materials after compaction. Furnish incidental field labor in connection with these tests.

4 Page 4 of G. ABC Rubble: 1. Segregate suitable materials for re-use as ABC Rubble as described in MassDOT Section 403, reclaimed base course material descriptions. Compaction Equipment and Tests. 2. Provide samples to Owner for Testing; allow for sufficient time for such testing to determine the composition and use of such materials for ABC. 3. Process ABC components as required by MassDOT by crushing, grading and breaking components to the specified sizes. Locate crushing plant as far from adjacent uses and residences. Provide dust control measures to prevent impacting adjacent businesses, residences and wetlands. No dust shall be discernable on adjacent properties or wetlands plants/areas. Hours of operation shall be from 9:00 am to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, legal Massachusetts Holidays excluded. H. Compaction Equipment and Tests 1. Compaction equipment unless otherwise specified, shall consist of fully loaded ten (10) wheel dump trucks, tractor-dozers weighing at least thirty-five thousand (35,000) pounds and operated at top speed, heavy vibratory rollers, such as a Ruggo 400, or other compaction equipment approved by the Architect. Equipment shall make a minimum of four (4) passes to achieve compaction as specified; to provide an evenly dense and compacted thickness throughout. All ruts shall be filled, the surface even and compacted to the density called for. The Architects retains the right to disapprove the use of any equipment that does not meet the above specifications or perform the work as intended. Any modification of equipment or method must be approved by the Architect. The material shall be compacted to at least ninety-five (95) percent of maximum density as determined by A.S.T.M. Test Designation D- 1557, Method D or A.S.T.M. D Compaction tests shall be performed as follows: Location All Fill No. Tests (Minimum) 1 every layer of fill lift (for each building) or 1 every 1,500 cubic feet of fill, whichever is greater I. Placing Fills and Compacting 1. Fill material shall be placed in horizontal layers not exceeding six (6) inches under the building and all pavements and nine (9) inch layers in lawn areas. Each layer shall be compacted to the percentage of maximum dry density specified for the particular type of fill and at a water content equal to optimum water content plus or minus two (2) percent. The maximum dry density and optimum water content shall be 95% below proposed building footprints and paved areas; 90% under lawn and side slope areas. 1. Where fill is required, existing steep slopes shall be brought down in grade to a maximum slope of 2:1 ((horizontal to vertical) and shall be graded to a uniform slope. Use only existing clean, on-site sands and gravels. The minimum amount of cut and fill shall be used to stabilize the site in a manner that leaves no open excavations.

5 Page 5 of MODIFY the following Section, 2.14 as noted: 2.14 SURFACE STABILIZATION: 2. Where water content of the fill must be adjusted to meet this Specification, the fill shall be thoroughly disked to insure uniform distribution of any water added. 3. Areas to be filled or backfilled shall be fee of construction debris, refuse, compressible or decayable materials and standing water. Do not place fill when fill materials or layers below it are frozen. 4. Notify the Architect when excavation is ready for inspection. Filling shall not be started until conditions have been approved by the Architect. B. Slopes shall be stabilized by two means: 1. During Growing Season (Base Bid criteria): If the slopes are graded and stabilized before November 1 or after April 15 of the season (the growing season), the requirements of Section Erosion and Sedimentation Control 3.05 & 3.06 shall apply 2 thickness of Loam, loam/seed and maintain.
