We will provide standard nits for a Prairie Stone, The Next Generation field panel. An owner or architect shold verify and approve the: 1. Textre and color of Prairie Stone, The Next Generation 2. Workmanship/qality of constrction Specify with Rheopel Pls mlti-prpose admixtre. This niqe formla is based on a novel silane chemistry that is different from that of conventional water repellent admixtres. When manfactred concrete prodcts and precast concrete prodcts se Rheopel Pls, they have sperior water repellency and secondary efflorescence control properties, increased strength performance, and improved color vibrancy. Rheopel Pls admixtre also exhibits excellent wind-driven rain resistance and has achieved the highest rating per ASTM E 514. Reqire 15 years or more manfactring expertise. Install flashing according to plans and details as well as best masonry flashing practices. Type N Mortar is recommended in a complementary or matching color when installing Prairie Stone, The Next Generation. Type S mortar is acceptable, bt not recommended. Type S is too strong and may create hairline shrinkage cracks. Mortar with a water repellent mortar additive is optional, bt recommended for all exterior walls. stpsl-4968 ( x x ") INSTALLATION drip flashing stpsl-4970 ( x x ) stps-005 ( x 7 5 8" x 2) stpsl-4969 ( x 7 5 8" x ") drip flashing stps-205 ( x 7 5 8" x 2) total depth 4 1 2") weep holes 16" OC. standard brick tie weep holes 16" OC. all watertable/sill corners to be field mitered head joints to be raked and calked at all window locations Managing Moistre Control, Shrinkage and Cracking Prairie Stone, The Next Generation, like all concrete masonry prodcts, may shrink slightly. The most common shrinkage/restraint isses come from drying shrinkage, temperatre changes, carbonation and differential movement. 1. Kiln fired clay brick expands as it absorbs moistre and concrete masonry nits shrink. This differential movement needs to be controlled when tilized with clay prodcts. 2. in sing elastic (control) joints, refer to NCMA TEK Blletins 10-1A Design of Concrete Masonry for Crack Control, 10-2B Control Joints for Concrete Masonry Walls Empirical Method, 10-4 Crack Control for Concrete Brick and Other Concrete Masonry Veneers, and 5-2A Clay and Concrete Masonry Banding Details for gidelines. Refer to NCMA TEK Blletin 3-6B Concrete Masonry Veneers for proper veneer anchoring. 3. Control joints are reqired at all openings, changes in wall height, between main intersecting walls, corners and for long rnning walls withot openings at a distance of 1 1/2 times the height of the masonry, as otlined in TEK Gide 10-2B. The empirical method notes that the distance is for the masonry only and if brick is sed, it is shold be treated independently for expansion and the appropriate brick technical gidelines followed. The most common shrinkage/ restraint isses come from drying shrinkage, temperatre changes, carbonation and differential movement. Cavity wall constrction is recommended with proper flashing, venting and weep holes. Install weep holes and vents at proper intervals and at any water stops over windows, doors and beams. Typical brick wall ties can be sed depending on the backp strctre. When seismic conditions occr, conslt yor local bilding codes for proper sizing and placement. All window sill and coping nit head joints shold be raked and calked with a matching color. Flashing shold always be sed in these locations.
