PROJECTS LOCATED IN AREAS SUBJECT TO EXTREME COLD AND/OR HIGH SNOW LOADS MAY REQUIRE MODIFICATIONS TO THESE DETAILS - CONTACT KINGSPAN TECHNICAL SERVICES FOR SPECIFIC PROJECT RECOMMENDATIONS. ALL STRUCTURAL SUPPORTS ARE NOT BY KINGSPAN AND ARE SHOWN FOR CLARIFICATION AND ILLUSTRATION PURPOSES ONLY. 4 KINGSPAN CEILING SYSTEM DESIGN POLICY AND PROCEDURES TO ENSURE PUBLIC SAFETY, APPLICATION ENGINEERING IS REQUIRED FOR A SUSPENDED CEILING SYSTEM CONSTRUCTED WITH KINGSPAN INSULATED PANELS. EACH OF THE STEPS SHOWN BELOW MUST BE FOLLOWED, WITHOUT EXCEPTION. 1. THE PROJECT ENGINEER (RETAINED BY OWNER OR CONTRACTOR) MUST IDENTIFY THE DESIGN LOADS (UNIFORMLY DISTRIBUTED AND/OR CONCENTRATED) TO WHICH THE CEILING WILL BE DESIGNED. 2. THE PROJECT ENGINEER (RETAINED BY OWNER OR CONTRACTOR) IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DESIGNING THE ATTACHMENT OF THE THREADED RODS FROM THE CEILING SYSTEM TO THE ROOF STRUCTURE ABOVE, INCLUDING ANY MISCELLANEOUS SUPPORT MEMBERS REQUIRED. 3. KINGSPAN ENGINEERING SHALL DETERMINE THE SPACING OF THE THREADED RODS USED WITH KINGSPAN ALUMINUM T EXTRUSIONS OR CEILING CHANNELS. KINGSPAN ENGINEERING WILL ALSO DETERMINE THE APPROPRIATE CEILING SUPPORT DETAILS, EXCLUDING THE ATTACHMENT OF THREADED RODS TO THE ROOF. 8. KINGSPAN ENGINEERING MUST REVIEW CEILING SYSTEM DRAWINGS BEFORE DESIGN IS FINALIZED. 9. IF THE DESIGN LOADS ARE NOT PROVIDED TO KINGSPAN ENGINEERING, THE DEFAULT DESIGN OF THE CEILING SYSTEM PROVIDED BY KINGSPAN WILL BE BASED ON THE CONCEPT OF LIGHT DUTY WITH LIMITED ACCESS. THIS IS EQUIVALENT TO A CONCENTRATED LIVE LOAD OF 300 LBS (ONE PERSON WITH TOOLS EXCLUDING HEAVY TOOL BOXES, GAS CYLINDERS, PIPE VISES, ETC.) OVER A 30"X30" AREA PLUS DEAD LOAD (DEFINED AS THE WEIGHT OF CEILING PANELS AND SUPPORTING ACCESSORIES PROVIDED BY KINGSPAN). A// OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF ITEMS #2, 3 AND 4 ARE STILL IN EFFECT. 10. OPENINGS AND OTHER PENETRATIONS IN CEILING PANELS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ACCESS DOORS, DUCTWORK, LARGE PIPING ETC. MAY REQUIRE ADDITIONAL STRUCTURAL SUPPORT FRAMING. ATTACHMENT METHOD OF LIGHTING FIXTURES ETC. AFFIXED TO THE CEILING MUST BE PRE-APPROVED BY KINGSPAN ENGINEERING. 11. THE CEILING, BOTH DURING AND AFTER INSTALLATION, MUST NOT BE USED AS A WORKING PLATFORM. 12. STORAGE OF ITEMS OR MATERIALS OF ANY KIND (I.E. CONTRACTOR MUST COMPLY WITH ANY AND ALL LOCAL HEALTH AND SAFETY REGULATIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS, INCLUDING ADEQUATE FALL PROTECTION. 14. ALL TRADES ONSITE MUST BE INFORMED BY THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR/SAFETY OFFICER/PANEL INSTALLATION SUBCONTRACTOR REGARDING THE LOADING CAPACITY OF THE CEILING, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ITEM #9 ABOVE PRIOR TO INSTALLATION. 15. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR/SAFETY OFFICER/PANEL INSTALLATION SUBCONTRACTOR TO PREVENT ANY UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS ON TOP OF THE CEILING DURING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY. 16.
