NCAA Basketball Court Diagram(B-2) SCOPE OF WORK: The contractor shall provide all material, labor, equipment, and supervision required to accomplish the following: General description This scope of work is to be accomplished at Bldg. 751 Goettge Memorial Field House, located on McHugh Boulevard, aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The contractor shall sand to bare wood gym floor 108 ft. by 178 ft.., reinstall game lines, boarder and logos, that match existing. Detailed requirements and specifications The contractor shall take his own field measurements in determining required materials and costs for the following: SPECIAL SCHEDULING AND ACCESS: 1. OICC Access and scheduling to the work area shall be arranged through Contracting Officer s Representative for the OICC office, and Mrs. Tamara Shermeyer, the tenant of the building. COMPLETION: JANUARY 5, ELECTRICAL: Contractor shall make the electrical connections as need for power for power equipment. ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: None Identified SUBMITTALS: 1. Contractor shall make electronic copies of all approved transmittal sheets and provide two (2) CD/DVD s containing all submittals for the project. The CD/DVD s shall be marked as Completed Submittals Package Contract # N B MSDS Safety Data Sheet, Material Data Sheet, for Sealer and Finish. 3. Package for care and simple maintenances of athletic floor finish. 4. Instruction class on floor maintenance for one hour: Two (2) different times and dates for the care of finish coat. a. What Product to clean athletic finish. b. How? Many times per day. c. How to mix product, What ratio? d. Daily, Monthly and BI-monthly care of athletic finish. 1. 2 STRUCTURAL WORK: Demolition: 1. Contractor shall demo all vented rubber base. Construction: 1. The contractor shall ensure existing bleachers on basketball court are in the fully retracted position exposing as much of floor as possible prior to sanding existing floor to raw wood. a. The areas under the fully retracted bleachers shall not be required to be refinished. b. The newly refinished floor shall be blended into the area that are not under bleaches section. c. Contractor may use hand held sander and hand sanding to blend floor for smooth transition. d. Contractor shall ensure the sealer and finishing products do not interfere with the existing bleacher rollers. 2. Contractor shall remove by sanding all layers of floor finish down to raw wood. a. Contractor shall take all precautions to minimize the spreading of any dust particles created by this sanding. b. Contractor is responsible for removing and properly disposing of all sawdust and litter on a daily basis. c. Contractor shall if needed or desired to cut off all air flow systems to gym flooring area. 3. Contractor shall repair or replace any split boards or seriously damaged areas of the wood surface. a. Board foot of approxmently 10 ln. Board foot. To be replaced as needed. 4. The gym flooring shall be sanded with a minimum of three cuts using coarse, medium and fine sandpaper. The final sanding shall be performed with a screen and dick dander and shall provide a smooth and even surface, free from scratches, drum stop marks or gouges. a. Either the first pass or the second pass of drum-type sander shall be at angle of forty-five (45) degree to the grain; other passes of the drum-type sander shall be in the direction of the grain of strip flooring. b. Finish edges not reached by the sander shall be performed with hand-held sander or by hand sanding. 5. Perform the finial sanding at a time and in a manner that will permit immediate application of the first seal coat as specified by sealers manufactures specifications. a. Contractor shall ensure there is adequate ventilation and humidity controls in the area to allow for proper drying. b. Finish flooring in accordance with MFMA (Maple Leaf Flooring Manufacturers Association) four coat specification, Group III finish shall consist of two (2) sealer coats and two (2) finish coats. 6. Contractor shall thoroughly clean floor surface prior to applying a liberal and uniform coat of penetrating sealer with the minimum coverage per manufactures instructions. a. Contractor shall schedule proper drying time per manufactures instruction. b. Contractor shall use a clean lamb s wool applicator, apply a liberal a liberal coating of penetrating sealer. c. Buff with steel wool screen back disk pad or as recommended by sealers manufactures instructions 7. Contractor shall apply a second coat of sealer in same manner as the first coat and allow drying time to completely dry. 8. Vacuum and tack rag the floor in preparation for court layout. 9. Contractor shall re-apply per manufactures instructions all name, logos, basketball court with NCAA volleyball game lines. a. Contractor shall use oil base enamel paint that is designed and approved by Maple Leaf Flooring Manufacturers Association product list. b. All game lines shall have distinct edges with no overlap and match existing lines. c. Contractor shall paint Marine Corps emblem in center court, emblem to match existing. d. Contractor shall paint Boarder and nomenclature on boarder. 10. Contractor shall apply two (2) coats of finish a. Immediately before applying the first coat of finish, the court floor shall be thoroughly tack ragged giving particular attention to edges and corners. b. Apply an even first coat of finish in accordance with the manufacturer s instruction specifications. ALLOW TO DRY COMPLETELY. c. Dry time completed lightly abrade with steel wool or screen to break the surface tension for bonding with the next finish coat. d. Vacuum the whole gym floor, then double tack rag the floor. e. Apply a second coat of finish in accordance with the finish manufacturers specifications DO NOT ABRADE the final coat. 11. Contractor shall install new three (3) inch by four (4) inch vented cove base per manufactures instructions. a. Contractor shall miter all inside corners b. Three (3) inches by four (4) inches vented cove base with premolded corners, designed to allow ventilation under floor and as recommended by flooring manufacturers. b. BASE COLOR: Black. c. ADHESIVE: Waterproof, suitable for use with molded rubber base, recommended by rubber base manufactures. d. Remolded corners shall be used. NOTES: 1. The measurements and quantities furnished here are for reference only. The contractor is responsible for actual field verification prior to bidding, ordering materials and during every step of construction for existing surfaces, dimensions and conditions. 2. Repair, refinish areas damaged or disturbed by new work to be provided under this contract. 3. Contractor may ONLY use the Camp Lejeune Sanitary Landfill for the disposal of asbestos containing materials, building product with tightly adhered lead containing paint, non-contaminated clean dirt and clean gravel. The hours of operations are Monday-Thursday and on Friday. Delivery of acceptable materials (identified above) shall be by appointment only. Appointment made by phone at or All other contractor generated material shall be weighted through the Base Landfill scales before being removed from the Base. Contractor utilizing the base scale will require Contracting Officer assisted per-registration with the Landfill manager. 5. The Contracting officer will register the contract via , with the Base Landfill. All haul vehicles will maintain a secure vehicle placard as a condition to utilize the scale. E- mail the contractor information to the Landfill Clerk, including the name on the Prime Contractor, contract number, job name/ description, completion date and whether or not any of the above materials will be delivered to the Landfill.
