Harris Co., Inc Pennsylvania Avenue Ogden, UT (888) (801) Fax: (801) PRODUCT DISCRIPTION Product Description: Harristone is a light weight, all-masonry pre-cast stone veneer ideal for new or existing homes and commercial buildings. The veneer units are suitable for interior and exterior applications. Harristone delivers the authentic look and feel of natural stone without the expensive price tag. COMPOSITION & MATERIALS Harristone Veneer is manufactured precast artificial stone similar in color and texture to natural stone. The units are approximately 5/8" - 2 5/8" (16-67 mm) thick, and are a maximum of 720 in 2 in area with a maximum dimension of 36" (914 mm). The maximum veneer weight is 15 psf (73 kg/m 2 ). The veneer is composed Portland cement, fine and coarse expanded shale aggregates, pigment, concrete admixture and water as required for casting. These precast stone components are set with mortar on a properly prepared wood or masonry substrate. The joints between the stones are filled with mortar which can be tooled using various techniques. All exterior Harristone installations should have a drip ledge, cap, flashing or an eave properly installed to prevent water from running down the finished surface. Salt and

5 other chemicals used for de-icing are abrasive and can damage Harristone products. 1. The veneer is installed in accordance with this report and manufacturer s instructions. 2. The veneer attached to wood backing is limited to a maximum 30 (9m) above adjacent ground elevation, except when approved by the building official considering special construction designed to provide for differential movement. 3. The veneer is not assumed to add strength of fire resistance to the wall construction. Evidence Submitted: Data in accordance with the ICC0ES Acceptance Criteria for Precast Stone Veneer (AC51) PHYSICAL/CHEMICAL PROPERTIES Test reports and product information are available from the manufacturer upon request. HPSV units shall be applied to open studs spaced as maximum of 16 inches on center (406 mm) or over existing wall surfaces of exterior plaster (stucco), wood siding, or wood sheathing backed by studs spaced a maximum of 16 inches (406 mm) on center. Open studs shall be covered with wire backing and a water-resistive barrier in accordance with IBC section or IRC Section R703.2, or a weatherresistive barrier in accordance with UBC Section For installations over wood siding or wood sheathing, a water-resistive barrier shall be installed over the wood siding or sheathing in accordance with IBC Section or IRC Section R Installations over exterior plaster walls require a water-resistive or weather-resistive barrier, in accordance with the applicable code, behind the plaster. inch (4.8 mm) spaced at a maximum of 16 inches (406 mm) on center. For wood studs, fasteners shall be galvanized nails, with diameter and penetration as shown in ICC-ES Report #1593, or minimum No. 16 gage [0.063 inch (1.6 mm)] galvanized staples of sufficient length to penetrate the studs a minimum of 1 3/8 inches (35 mm). For steel studs, fasteners shall be No. 8 wafer head screws of sufficient length to penetrate the studs a minimum of 3/8 inch (9.5 mm). INSTALLATION PREPARATORY WORK Deliver materials in manufacturer s original, unopened, undamaged containers with identification labels intact. Handle and store product according to G. S. Harris Co., Inc., recommendations. APPLICATION TO STUD CONSTRUCTION Flashing must be installed as required by 2012 IBC Sections and (Section of the 2009 IBC and Section of the 2006 IBC) or 2006 IRC Section R703.8, as applicable. Weep screeds shall be installed at the bottom of the wall and at all horizontal terminations of the HPSV. The weep screed shall comply with, and be installed in accordance with, IBC Section , IRC Section R or UBC Section , as applicable. In addition, the weep screeds shall have holes with a minimum diameter of 3/16 A 1/2 inch thick (12.7 mm) scratch coat of Type S mortar shall be applied over the lath or mesh and allowed to cure for at least 48 hours before the mortar setting bed is applied. The scratch coat shall be moistened and a ¾=inch-thick (19.1 mm) Type S mortar setting bed shall be applied in areas of approximately 10 square feet (0.929 m2). The HPSV units shall be lightly but firmly tapped into the mortar setting bed to unsure bond while the mortar is soft and pliable. Alternatively, the setting bed shall be applied to the back of each veneer unit and the unit pressed into place. In either case, the mortar setting bed thickness and consistency shall allow the mortar to be squeezed out around all edges of the veneer unit to assure full bond. All joints shall be tooled. APPLICATION TO MASONRY The HPSV units shall be applied directly to a masonry backing without the use of lath or mesh, provided the surface is clean. Panted, waterproofed, or dirty masonry surfaces shall be cleaned by sandblasting to provide a good bond surface. A minimum 1/2 inch-thick (12.7 mm) Type S mortar setting bed shall be applied to the masonry backing in areas of approximately 10 square feet (0.929 m2). The HPSV units shall be lightly but firmly tapped into the mortar setting bed to ensure bond while the mortar is soft and

6 pliable. Alternatively, the setting bed shall be applied to the back of each veneer unit and the unit pressed into place. In either case, the mortar setting bed thickness and consistency shall allow mortar to be squeezed out around all edges of the veneer unit to assure full bond. All joints shall be tooled. CONDITIONS OF USE Installation shall comply with this report, the manufacture s published installation instructions and the applicable code. The HPSV units shall be limited to installation on wood-frame, light-gagesteel framed, or masonry walls only. Expansion or control joints used to limit the effect of differential movement of supports shall be specified by the architect, designer or veneer manufacturer, in that order. Consideration shall also be given to movement caused by temperature change, shrinkage, creep and deflection. In jurisdictions adopting the UBC, the height of HPSV attached to wood-frame construction shall be limited by UBC Section In jurisdictions adopting the IRC, the wood-frame or masonry wall backing, including headers and lintels, shall be as required to support the weight of the HPSV and the mortar. In jurisdictions adopting the IRC, the veneer installation shall comply with the seismic provisions of IRC section R QUALITY CONTROL In addition, Harristone veener is produced under a quality assurance program in accordance with ICC Evaluation Services AC 10 Requirements. 10.
