Due to the use of natural raw materials in our products, the actual value determined on an individual delivery may deviate slightly, without compromising product suitability. Substrate Requirements Preparation The substrate must be firm, dry, clean and load bearing as well as free of sinter layers, efflorescence and separating agents. Damp or not fully cured substrates can lead to defects in subsequent coats, such as blistering or cracking. Check existing coatings for their load-bearing capacity. Differences in gloss levels and haze may occur. temperature Lowest temperature of substrate/air: +5 C Material preparation The consistency for application has to be achieved with a suitable amount of water. Do not use mixers made of aluminium discoloration may appear. Only stir briefly at a low rotation speed to avoid foaming in the binding agent. Foaming may influence wet adhesion and cause clearly less consumption. Due to lower density of the plaster, the substrate may shine through. This leads to an uneven drying process of the plaster layer, possibly causing stains. Furthermore, the refraction of light in the transparent binding agent will be modified. Due to this, the areas may appear white. Normally it is enough to stir up the material quickly using a mason s trowel or a square trowel. Consumption Type of application Consumption approx. 5,00-6,00 kg/m² The consumption depends on the application method, substrate and consistence, amongst other factors. The stated consumption values are guide values only. Where required, precise consumption values can be established on site. Coating procedure Priming coat: Depends on the type and condition of the substrate. Intermediate coat: Sto-Primer, adjust colour shade on top coat. The colour shade of (colour shades starting with 8...) is adequate to the colour shade of Sto-Primer. Top coat: Manually Use a stainless-steel trowel, apply the material evenly in the thickness of the grain size and smoothen the surface by a stainless-steel trowel after an appropriate stability time. If the material will be applied intensively by a stainless-steel trowel, due to metal abrasion, grey-discolouration may occur. Apply only material of the same charge in connecting application surfaces. The end result depends greatly on the application method, the application tools, and the substrate. The tools mentioned are recommendations only. Drying, curing, overcoating The material is drying physical by evaporation of water. Thorough drying is completed after 14 days. 3 During unfavourable weather conditions it is imperative that suitable protective measures (e.g. protection against rain) be applied to the work in progress and freshly completed facades. At +20 C temperature (air and substrate) and 65 % relative humidity, the next coat can be applied after approx. 24 hours. Tool cleaning Delivery Colour shade Clean tools with water immediately after use. Very high humidity or prolonged exposure to moisture may cause back diffusion of the humidity. As concerns areas with high moisture exposure, this could lead to turning white. This turning white is the result of a modified refraction of the transparent binding agent. When the humidity of the outdoor area gets lower, the humidity contained in the plaster layer will release moisture into the surrounding area and the effect of turning white will also diminish. This effect decreases the longer the weathering period. This is due to a physical-based effect emphasizing the open-pore properties and diffusion capacity of. Colour stability: Caused by weather conditions, solar radiation and additions, the surface of coatings can effect discolouration over time. Climate conditions and the exposure of the building are affecting this dynamic process in different ways. Please note the national regulations, data sheets, etc. Black grain: The sands used in Sto finish plasters are natural products, which depending on the colour, can in a very few cases become visible as lightly darker sand or texture grains. This is not a quality defect, but a minimal optical impairment, which testifies to the natural character and properties of the raw materials used in Sto finish plasters. Tintability Special modifications/ additives Packaging Not for tinting on site. The product is factory equipped with a film conservation material against algae and fungal attack, an additional setting is not possible. This ensures a preventative and prolonged effect.
