6 Phase I Construction Overview Construction on the Exposition Light Rail Line commenced in October For the last several months, construction has consisted of utility relocation work and street improvements on Flower Street between 18 th and 23 rd in Downtown Los Angeles. Utility relocation work in the USC/Expo Park area began in April. Construction of the trench from Flower Street to Exposition Boulevard began in July. Over the next several months construction in this area will consist of the following activities: Utility Relocation Activities: Phone & Gas Power & Water Lines Sewer & Storm Drains Major Construction Work Trench Construction 61 Water Line
7 Construction Activities Construction Completed traffic re-routing along Exposition Blvd. west of Figueroa Street and began construction of the jacking pit required to relocate a 61 water line Completed temporary lighting on Flower Street, from Washington Blvd. to 23 rd Street Continue installation of Cast-In-Place Drilled-Holes, (CIDH), piles Continue drilling and installing secant piles for trench wall construction Continue fabrication of pre-cast girders for street crossings at trench structure
8 Phase I Trench Construction Trench Statistics: 2,500 feet in length Occasional weekend closures (8 estimated at this time) 826 CIDH piles form the trench wall Deepest piling is approximately 55 feet, the shallowest is approximately 15 feet Excavation will take approximately 13 months to complete 61,000 cubic yards of dirt will be excavated for the trench This is equal to the capacity of 6,500 dump trucks 13,007 cubic yards of concrete will be used 3.7 million pounds of rebar will be used Will allow Expo trains to run below intersections at Flower / Exposition and Figueroa / Exposition without interrupting vehicle traffic

14 61 Water Line Construction Activities 61 Water Line Relocation: Current water line is 10 feet deep, due to trench construction, need to replace at 45 feet The water pipe is 220 feet Receiving pit will be stationed north of Exposition Blvd near Figueroa St Work and storage area will be stationed south of Exposition Blvd on Figueroa St (current triangle area) Exposition Blvd has been widened and shifted to the south closing the existing west bound lanes on Exposition Blvd from Flower St to Trousdale. The new road will still allow east west traffic on Exposition Blvd. Construction will take place from September 2007 thru March 2008
15 Traffic Advisories EXPOSITION BLVD. (westbound - Flower St. to Vermont Ave.): Night work only, one lane will be available for traffic, Sunday night through Friday morning (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.) FIGUEROA BLVD. (southbound and northbound - Jefferson Blvd. to MLK Blvd.): Night work only, various lane closures (ongoing through approximately November 30). Sunday night through Friday morning (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.) FIGUEROA BLVD. (southbound and northbound Jefferson Blvd. to MLK Blvd.): Night work only. Intermittent lane closures. Full closure dates to be determined. Notices will be disseminated 48 hours in advance FLOWER STREET (southbound Washington Blvd. to Exposition Blvd.): Through November 31, various lane closures for utility relocations, lane closures will occur daily from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. TROUSDALE PKWY: Crosswalk is open for pedestrian use. The intersection is closed to vehicular traffic through end of November. EXPOSITION BLVD: Existing lane detours (westbound from Flower St. to Pardee Way) are in place to allow for LADWP water line relocation RIGHT TURN IMMEDIATELY before Figueroa Blvd. eastbound closed NEW RIGHT TURN at Figueroa Blvd. and Exposition Blvd. will be allowed.
16 Construction Mitigation Efforts Traffic Control Plan Pedestrian and Vehicular Access Noise Mitigation Advance Notification
17 Community Outreach Reminder - a 24-hour hotline phone number (213) has been setup for all construction complaints and emergencies. Team will respond to all construction complaints within 48 hours. All emergencies will be addressed immediately. Will continue to distribute construction notices to local communities prior to the start of new construction activities.
