1 UMB 3000 ULTRA MOISTURE BARRIER FEATURES AND BENEFITS: Mild Odor / No Odor When Dry Easy to use, no mixing Reduces Sub-Floor Moisture Maintains Great Elasticity Fills, Seals & Bridges Small Cracks The primary function of UMB 3000 is to reduce and maintain sub-floor moisture emissions at very low levels (typically, 3lbs/1000 sq ft / 24 hours, per the calcium chloride test, ASTM F ), well below what is required for installing hardwood flooring, including solid wood flooring, exotic wood species and parquet tile. UMB 3000 is a premium moisture cure urethane formulation that elongates and retains elasticity (elongation is over 500%). The elongation accommodates random cracks up to 1/8 in concrete or terrazzo that might develop after installation. UMB 3000 provides acoustical benefits in addition to the sub-floor moisture emission protection and crack suppressant benefits. Parabond s 2010 Urethane Wood Adhesive is a companion product to UMB Th ey are completely compatible and bond extremely well together, to provide an all urethane installation system for all types of wood flooring UMB 3000 is an excellent preventive system to ensure sub-floor moisture emissions never ruin an otherwise beautiful wood flooring installation. Since the vast majority of subfloor moisture problems develop after the flooring is installed. Limited Lifetime warranty on residential and small commercial installations (up to 4,000 square feet). DESCRIPTION: Millennium Series UMB 3000 Ultra Moisture Barrier is a residential/light commercial product, for installations up to 4000 square feet. If installation is over 4000 sq. ft. contact Para-Chem s Technical It is a one-part trowel applied urethane moisture barrier, crack suppressant and acoustical sub-floor membrane system. When applied correctly, it forms a sub-floor membrane of mils that shields and protects glue down hardwood flooring from harmful sub-floor moisture emissions. UMB 3000 is formulated to remain elastic throughout its life cycle to accommodate the normal movement, expansion and contraction of sub-floors and wood flooring without fracturing or compromising the protection and integrity of the wood flooring installation. UMB 3000 can be applied to new construction concrete, which has cured for 30 days. The most efficient use and recommended application for UMB 3000 is to apply it to new construction concrete sub-floors as a maintenance moisture emission membrane. The membrane protects wood flooring installations against fluctuations and escalations of sub-floor moisture emissions for the life of the wood floor. A dry sub-floor today, does not guarantee a dry sub-floor in the future. Sub-floor moisture emissions constantly change; therefore, UMB 3000 is a wise investment to protect wood flooring against future changes in the sub-floor. IMPORTANCE OF MOISTURE TESTING: Para-Chem strongly recommends moisture testing of all sub-floors and {especially concrete} prior to installing any type of floor covering or applying a moisture membrane to the sub floor. UMB 3000 is a high quality moisture cure urethane that provides an excellent membrane that protects against sub-floor
2 moisture emissions when applied correctly. However, excessive sub-floor moisture emissions {approximately 6 lbs / 1000 sq ft per 24 hours and above} indicates a serious job site moisture condition that must be investigated and the source eliminated before proceding. The preceding sentence should not be interpreted to mean that UMB 3000 cannot be applied if the sub-floor is above 6 pounds. UMB 3000, is capable of protecting the wood flooring against sub-floor moisture damage wherever it is applied to the sub-floor. However, it will not address an overall jobsite moisture problem. Excessive sub-floor moisture is a very serious issue and can cause extensive damage and problems within the building and its furnishings. In addition, excessive moisture can create health issues, as it promotes the growth of mold, mildew and bacteria. DO NOT attempt to mask a jobsite moisture problem by simply applying UMB 3000 to a certain area of the sub-floor. First, identify and eliminate the source of the excessive moisture, then apply UMB The only way to determine if a sub-floor moisture problem exists is to conduct moisture test, therefore, pre-testing sub-floor moisture levels is prudent and highly recommended by Para-Chem. SUB-FLOOR PREPARATION PROCEDURES 1. UMB 3000 can be applied on the following sub-floors (concrete, terrazzo, plywood, OSB, ceramic tile {must be abraded}, cement backer boards, and radiant heated sub-floors, (except for radiant heat systems in gypsum based sub-floor). 2. Concrete must be cured a minimum of 30 days. 3. ALL sub-floors must be clean and structurally sound. It must be free of old adhesives, oils, curing agents, paints, sealers, sheetrock debris, and all gypsum based levelers or patches. 4. Do not apply UMB 3000 if there is visual dampness or water on the sub-floor. Obvious water or moisture conditions must be corrected prior to the installation of UMB Follow the wood manufacturers specifications for sub-floor flatness and levelness. Dips and rises in the sub-floor must be corrected prior to installing UMB 3000 to prevent follow spots afterwards. 6. Leveling, patching, grinding and all repairs to the sub-floor must be completed BEFORE installation of UMB 3000 can begin. Portland based levelers and patches must be allowed to dry COMPLETELY before applying UMB Cracks in the sub-floor greater than 1/8 in width must be properly prepared according to ASTM Standards prior to applying UMB DIRECTIONS: UMB 3000 is designed to be applied with a notched trowel. The coverage and coating thickness is determined and controlled by the trowel. Therefore, it is extremely important to use the correct trowel as illustrated on this label. Use of an incorrect trowel or using any other type tool to apply UMB 3000 will void all warranties associated with this product. Cure times vary depending on the humidity, temperature and job site conditions. Allow UMB 3000 to cure 16 to 24 hours before starting to glue down the wood flooring. READ and understand all the Directions before starting to apply UMB Ensure that the room temperature is between 50 F - 85 F (10 C 29.4 C). 2. Follow the instructions for Sub-floor Preparation above. 3. Wear disposable gloves and safety glasses. Use a 1/8 -Width x 1/8 -Depth x 1/16 -Space U-notch trowel to apply UMB DO NOT apply with any other trowel or tool. 4. The objective is to apply approximately a mil solid homogeneous layer. The viscosity of UMB 3000 is designed to allow the trowel ridges to flatten, flow and run together to form a consistent urethane coating over the entire sub-floor, provided the subfloor is prepared according to the Sub- Floor Preparation Procedures. 5. An approximate coverage of Square Feet per gallon can be achieved with the above trowel and layer thickness depending on the sub-floor.
3 6. Higher humidity and temperature will accelerate the cure of UMB 3000, but it is recommended to wait for approximately hours for UMB 3000 to cure. 7. Use 2010 Urethane Wood Adhesive to install the flooring following the instructions of the adhesive pail label. 8. In order to maintain adequate moisture emission protection, DO NOT SKIP ANY AREAS when applying. It is better to have a heavier layer than one that is too thin. If areas are missed or applied too thin it will result in unsatisfactory moisture emission reduction performance and will void all warranties associated with UMB CLEAN-UP: It is important to clean up all tools and spills on any surfaces immediately and before it starts to cure. Once it has dried it will be difficult, if not impossible, to remove. Use a soft clean cloth dampened with Mineral Spirits to clean and remove any spills while it is still wet. CAUTION: Mineral Spirits is flammable. Read and follow all precautions on container label. CAUTION: Follow all manufactures recommendations and industry standards regarding subfloor preparation. NOTE: Do not use UMB 3000 over concrete slabs treated with curing compounds or sealers as well as over gypsum based patches/underlayments. Do not use UMB 3000 with VCT/Vinyl flooring materials. Do not use UMB 3000 over VCT/Vinyl when installing wood flooring. HEALTH AND SAFETY DATA: Skin contact: Prolonged or repeated skin exposure may cause irritation. Wash with soap and flowing water. Seek medical advice if irritation persists. Eye contact: Do not allow product to come in contact with eyes. If eye contact occurs flush with water for 15 minutes and seek medical advice. Respiratory: If adverse respiratory effects occur, move to fresh air and seek medical advice. Ingestion: Do not swallow. If swallowed, Do Not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN Product And Warranty Limitations UMB 3000 when used in conjunction with 2010 Urethane Wood Adhesive will bond and will protect all engineered, solid or acrylic impregnated wood flooring glued down to all substrates or sub-floors common to wood flooring against moisture emissions vapor damage through the subfloor. This warranty is valid for a period equal to the wood flooring manufacturer s product warranty. This product warranty does not cover damage due to poor sub-floor preparation, flooding, low or excessive relative humidity, migration of moisture/water through walls or any damage other than excessive moisture proven to be migrating through the UMB 3000 membrane. Parabond s 2010 is the ONLY adhesive approved for use with UMB Using any other adhesive, will void all warranties associated with UMB UMB 3000 will not prevent damaging moisture vapor/ water from transmitting through improperly repaired expansion joints and/or cracks in excess of 1/8. Carefully read and follow the instructions and requirements in Sub-Floor Preparation Procedures section on this label. UMB 3000 will not prevent moisture vapor from transmitting into the building from underneath existing wall framing or in any areas of the building where UMB 3000 is not applied.
4 UMB 3000 cannot and will not prevent water from seeping through exterior walls and onto the subfloor that is a result of raised or sloping terrain, raised landscaping against the building, exterior sprinklers systems, etc. WARRANTY All warranties associated with UMB 3000 are contingent upon and limited to using 2010 to glue down the wood floor. The use of any other brand or type adhesive will void all expressed, implied or stated warranties associated with UMB The UMB 3000 warranty does not include or cover nail-down or floating floor installations. Para-Chem warrants to the original purchaser/owner of UMB 3000 to protect glue-down hardwood flooring installations against damage or failure due to sub-floor moisture emission migration for the life of the flooring to the original purchaser, this warranty IS NOT assignable or transferable. Sub-floor moisture migration is defined in this warranty exclusively as moisture vapor/water that transmits through the subfloor and consequently through the UMB 3000 barrier from below. All other sources of moisture damage (environmental, spills, leaks, floods, through walls, etc.) to the wood are explicitly excluded from this warranty. The amount of sub-floor moisture transmitting from the subfloor through the UMB 3000 barrier can be tested and verified with an ASTM Test F 1869 Calcium Chloride Test. UMB 3000 will be considered as performing properly and within the standards of this warranty if moisture emissions are at 3lb or less/1000 sq ft / 24 hour per the ASTM F-1869 Calcium Chloride Test measured from the top of the UMB 3000 barrier. Processing Potential Claims 1. In order for these warranties to apply a Para-Chem representative must evaluate any potential claims before any replacement work is initiated. Call Para-Chem In the event a claim is valid Para-Chem will pay reasonable labor and materials for replacement of the portion of the wood flooring damaged. 3. For the UMB 3000 warranty to be in force the entire installation must be in full compliance with all UMB 3000 label directions, 2010 Urethane Wood Adhesive directions and the wood flooring manufacturers installation instructions. Shelf life: One year from date of manufacture, in original sealed containers. Storage: Dry area, F ( C). Re-seal partially used containers by covering container with one or two pieces of plastic, lid must be replaced tightly and carefully turn the pail upside down for storage. To re-open the pail, carefully turn the pail right side up, remove lid, and cut plastic. Discard plastic and any cured material.

Contaminated material that has come into contact with or absorbed moisture will evolve CO 2 gas and should not be stored under air tight seal for 24 hours. Dispense sand, sawdust, or vermiculite and absorb spill residue. Collect and place in waste container. Wash area thoroughly with solution of 8 % ammonia, 2 % detergent, and 90 % water. SECTION 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE HANDLING: Use good hygienic practices. (Wash hands before eating, using washroom, or smoking.) Keep out of the reach of children. STORAGE: Material must be stored under air tight conditions to prevent exposure to moisture. Do not open containers until ready for use. If containers show signs of pressurization, trained personnel should clear area, cover container with tarp, and puncture lid with a long handled spike to relieve pressure. Store above 40 o F in a cool, dry location away from moisture sources. SECTION 8.
