1 CITY OF FARMINGTON 800 Municipal Drive Farmington, NM (505) Fax (505) IMMEDIATE ATTENTION Grading and Drainage Construction for Cottonwood Substation, BID # R ADDENDUM FOUR December 28, 2016 Notice to Bidders: The above referenced bid is hereby amended as follows: ADD: Geocomposite Foundation Drainage, Section (see attached) REPLACE: Bid Proposal, AF-3 Form Replace pages with the attached form The following questions or requests for clarification were received regarding this project. Following each question or request for clarification is the response. Q1) Does City want this project completed by a certain date? If so, when is the drop-dead end date for the 120 day period of performance? A1) The completion of work would be 120 calendar days from the date of "notice to proceed. Q2) Regarding Item 4 (Culvert), the bid schedule calls for 30 CMP, however, the drawings call for 30 ADS N-12 Pipe. Should we bid CMP or ADS N-12 Pipe? Should we also include the cost of the flared end sections and rip rap at the inlet and outlet in the Culvert line item? A2) The culvert will be 30 CMP, not ADS N-12. Yes, the flared end sections and rip rap should be included in the culvert line item. Q3) Regarding Item 6, please will you verify the Rip Rap Placement quantity and unit of measure? The bid schedule says 1,225 SF. However, the rip rap channel is about 1,000 feet in length based upon the road stationing and 10 feet wide per the road section detail; which results in 9,500 square feet. Could the unit of measure in the bid schedule be incorrect, e.g. should it be in square-yards? A3) The unit should be square yards (SY), not SF. Q4) Regarding Item 7 Retaining Wall, is structural fill required below the footings? If so, what are the minimum required dimensions and type of structural fill? Is rip rap required at the outlet of each of the weep holes? It appears the surface runoff from the pad will be routed towards the northerly and southerly walls where it will be intercepted by the free-draining wall PURCHASING

2 backfill and enter the perforated pipes at the bottom of wall and exit the weep holes. General note 4 on sheet 24 defers to the Geotech report for excavation, backfill and compaction of the retaining wall. However, the Geotech study(ies) do not appear to specifically address construction of the cast-in-place retaining walls, specifically with respect to the footing and the backfill. Please will you advise? Is a geo-fabric, like 170N, required between the free-draining gravel wall backfill and the native backfill? A4) Fill will be needed in areas where the existing grade is lower than the proposed grade for the footers. In those cases, the fill will need to be compacted to 95% (ASTM D698) per the geotechnical report for fill beneath footings. Rip-Rap is not required at the outlet for the weep holes. Geo-fabric (such as Mirafi 170N) will need to be placed between the backfill and the gravel. Q5) Will the City provide construction surveying for this project at their own cost? A5) The contractor should provide/pay for their own construction surveying. FEUS will then confirm final grades and quantities of materials moved at the completion of work by the contractor. Receipt of this addendum shall be noted on Form AF-1 (a) in Tab I Bidding Requirements for the above referenced bid. If your bid has already been submitted to this office, and this addendum will affect your bid quote, please contact this office and we will return your bid. 3 SECTION GEOCOMPOSITE FOUNDATION DRAINAGE PART 1 - GENERAL 1.01 SCOPE A. Section includes: Sub-drainage system material at vertical cast-in-place retaining wall as complete designed working drainage system channeling liquid water to a drainage piping system specified elsewhere QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Application of product shall be performed by an experienced and manufacturer approved method in strict accordance with manufacturer s recommendations SUBMITTALS A. Contractor shall submit to the Engineer for his approval, manufacturer s data sheets for installation requirements, and installation procedures. Upon approval of the Engineer, manufacturer s specifications do thereby become a part of this specification and shall be used as the basis for approval or rejection of work carried out in this Section SYSTEM DESCRIPTION A. Performance Requirements: a. Geotextile: i. UV resistance: 70% or more when tested in accordance with ASTM D4355 ii. Permittivity: 140 gal/min/ft 2 when tested in accordance with ASTM D4491 iii. Core Compressive Strength: 11,000 psf or more when tested in accordance with ASTM D1621 B. Keep material protected from the elements and in original unopened containers to prevent degradation of product before use. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 MATERIALS A. Geotextile Drainage Core: normal duty, impermeable polymeric sheet to form a high flow, dimpled drainage core. The core is bonded to a layer of non-woven filter fabric to retain soil and sand particles and facilitate the drainage of water. a. Type: J-Drain 200 series B. Acceptable manufacturers: a. Install sub-drainage system material vertically in accordance with manufacturer s installation instructions with core material facing the retaining wall. B. Lap geo-textile fabric joints in accordance with the manufacturer s installation instructions. C. Tie sub-drainage material into the foundation drainage pipe material and maintain positive drainage directly to the foundation pipe. D. Secure the sub-drainage system material to the wall at grade in accordance with the manufacturer s installation instructions CLEANUP AND PROTECTION A.
