Tredsafe have an extensive range of stairnosing profiles available, designed to suit all types of stairs, both inside and outdoors. The profiles are compatible with all stair coverings, as well as uncovered concrete and wooden stairs. Each insert is supplied with a pre-applied, self-adhesive backing tape for ease of installation and concealment of fixing screws for a neat and tidy job. 16 INSERTS LUMITRED Tredsafe inserts have a unique raised pyramid texture which provides exceptional multidirectional slip resistance. Each insert is supplied with a pre-applied, self-adhesive backing tape for ease of installation and concealment of fixing screws for a neat and tidy job. The Lumitred range provides the ultimate solution in reduced light conditions. Utilizing phosphorescent pigments the inserts are charged by natural or artificial light and activate instantly in failing light conditions. Lumitred inserts are available in 1/2, 1 1/2, 1 3/4 or 2 1/8 widths. 17 INSTALLATION INSERT Step 1 Ensure the aluminum channel is clean from dust, residues and debris. Wipe down with a cleaning solvent (Isopropyl Alcohol or similar). Step 2 Pre cut the insert to your required length. Step 3 Remove the adhesive backing liner from the Tredsafe insert. Step 4 Install by placing the insert into the nosing and pressing into place without undue stretching. Step 5 Once in place, roll over the insert to ensure consistent adhesion and a secure bond. 17

(Meets British Standard for Sheet Vinyl and Vinyl Tiles BS3261:1973). Tredsafe insert is resistant to attack from ultraviolet light, oil, grease, petrol, salt, dilute acids and alkalis, common hohold chemicals and detergents. 19 TECHNICAL DATA SHEET NOSING Aluminum Component Under normal conditions the extruded aluminum sections are extremely durable, but the following should be taken into account when specifying: Aluminum is attacked by alkali in some mortars and plasters in wet conditions Electrolytic corrosion is likely when in contact with some metals, particularly copper, copper alloys, iron and steel. Although it is not affected by most timbers, corrosion is very likely when in contact with wet timber, such as Western Red cedar, Douglas fir and oak. PVC Component Extremely durable and unaffected by most chemicals in common. The UP series of stair finishes are unaffected by insects and will not support the growth of fungi, moulds or bacteria, resistant to normal thermal loading and ultraviolet, however they are not recommended for outdoors. Installation It is recommended to a polychloropene type contact adhesive in conjunction with mechanical fasteners. Stainless steel screws must be d for exterior or wet installations. We supply all profiles pre-drilled for counter-sunk screws at 200mm centres. Ideally, damaged or badly worn steps should be repaired prior to fixing the Tredsafe stair finishes. When using a contact type adhesive to provide a firm bed it is important to depress the nosing into the adhesive beads then remove immediately, allowing for solvent evaporation. The Tredsafe stair finish is re-positioned and the screws then installed. Installation of the Tredsafe insert is achieved by removing the backing paper and then pressing firmly into the profile. Information given in this data sheet is based on the current state of knowledge.
