2 THHN/THWN-2/THW/THWN/TW Listed E / E APPLICATIONS THHN/THWN-2 building wire is primarily used for general purpose applications in conduit and cable trays for service, feeders and branch circuits as defined by the National electrical code (NEC). Type THHN or THHN-2, the conductor is appropriate for us in wet or dry location at temperatures not to exceed 90 C or not to exceed 75 C in oil or coolants. STANDARDS Apollon wire Type THHN or THWN-2 meets or exceeds all applicable UL standard 83 and requirements of the National Electrical Code RoHS Compliant. CONSTRUCTION THHN or THWN-2 copper conductors are annealed (soft) copper, insulated with a tough heat and moisture resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC), over which a nylon (polyamide) or UL-listed equal jacket is applied. Available in black, white, red, blue green, yellow, brown, orange and grey; some colors standard, some subject to economic order quantity. For use in accordance with NEC (national electric code) article 310 conductors for general wiring. SPECIFICATIONS THHN or THWN-2: Conductors shall be UL-listed type THHN or THWN-2 gasoline and oil resistant II, suitable for operations at 600 volts as specified in the National Electrical Code. Sizes 14 through 6 AWG shall be rated VW-1. Conductors shall be annealed copper, insulated with high-heat and moisture resistant PVC, jacketed with abrasion, moisture, gasoline and oil resistant nylon or listed equivalent, as manufactured by Apollon wire Inc. or approved equal.

4 1. SCOPE This specification covers 600V copper conductor, PVC insulated and Nylon jacketed THHN I THWN wire. 2. REFERENCE STANDARD This specification is based on the following standard. (1) ASTM B 3 (2) ASTM B 8 (3) ASTM B 787 (4) UL 83 (5) UL MATERIAL AND CONSTRUCTION 3.1 Conductor (1) The conductor shall be annealed solid, Class B stranded, compressed stranded or 19 wire combination unilay - stranded plain copper wire complying with ASTM B 3, ASTM B 8 or ASTM B 787. (2) The construction of the conductor shall be in accordance with Table Insulation (1) The insulation shall be covered with PVC compound complying with Type THHN I THWN of UL 83. (2) The average and minimum(at any point) thickness shall be not less than the values given in Table Nylon Jacket (1) The nylon jacket shall be applied directly to the surface of the insulation.
