2 The University of Texas Health Science at Houston Swimming Pool Renovation Project Phase 1: New Filter System 1.0 Scope of Work Pool Gallons: Approximately 557,000 gallons Turn Over Rate: 6 Hours Pump Room Dimensions: Approximately 30 x 16 A. Demolition 1. Remove all three existing fiberglass vertical filters and existing filter media in those from site. 2. Remove all two existing pool recirculation pumps and motors from site. 3. Remove all old electrical connections no longer needed. B. New Filters 1. Install Stark 4-Tank, SS4-96A-10 Filter System 10 Connections as per manufacture recommendations, with completely automatic backwash controller. (Please see attached filter layout drawing. 2. Install all new filter room plumbing in Sch PVC piping. (Please see drawing.) 3. Install filter backwash plumbing in Sch PVC piping. C. New Recirculation Pump 1. Install one Aurora Pump (Model AD NIZ) 6x6x11, 40 HP, must be at least 83% efficient. Must be NSF 50 listed. 2. Install all electrical to this pump to meet all State and City electrical codes. 3. Install pump as per manufacture recommendations. All plumbing connections and piping to be schedule 80 PVC. All hardware, bolt packs, nuts, bolts and washers to be 316L. D. New Nair and Lint Strainer for pump 1. Install new Fluidtrol RSW Series FRP Molded Hair and Lint Strainer Reducing, on new pool pump. (Model RSW ) 2. Install all hardware, bolt packs, nuts, bolts and washers and all flange connections. All hardware to be stainless steel 316L. 3. Install hair and lint strainer as per manufacture recommendations. All plumbing connections and piping to be schedule 80 PVC.

3 E. New Variable Frequency Drives 1. Install new 1 Variable Frequency Drive (Model Pentair ACU Drive XS) on pool pump. 2. Provide all programming and training for each VFD. 3. Install the VFD s as per manufacture recommendations. F. Other Work 1. Contractor responsible for coordinating with Chemical Supplier to make sure chemical system is installed correctly and chemicals are delivered. 2. Contractor shall be responsible for chemically balancing the pool water after installation of equipment. (Chlorine: 1.5 ppm. ph: ppm. Calcium Hardness: ppm. Alkalinity: ppm.) 3. Contractor Responsible for chemical balance of pool water for 7 days after startup of new equipment. 4. Contractor to clean up and remove all trash and debris during and after completion of project. 5. Contractor to provide one extra strainer for the hair and lint strainer provided. 6. Contractor responsible for filter piping and return piping to plumb correctly to existing heater. Contractor responsible for starting heater and demonstrating proper operation and function from the pool heater before completion of work. G. Alternate 1 - Contractor to provide one extra 40 HP pump motor for the Aurora Pump (Model AD NIZ) 6x6x11. H. Alternate 2 - Contractor to provide one extra Impeller for the Aurora Pump (Model AD NIZ) 6x6x11.

4 UTHSC Pool Re-plaster Phase 2: Re-Plaster Part 1 General Work Included: A. All preparation of the swimming pool structures and labor and materials required to provide swimming pool plaster and new frame and grates to the UT Health Rec Center Pool. Quality Assurance: A. All work for this project shall be performed and supervised by a qualified Commercial Swimming Pool Contractor. B. Qualifications. 1. The contractor to perform this work shall have been successfully engaged in this respective trade for at least five (5) years immediately prior to the commencement of this work, and shall demonstrate to the approval of the Owner s Representative that their record of workmanship is satisfactory. 2. For actual construction operations, use only thoroughly trained and experienced workers completely familiar with the materials and methods specified, 3. Provide at least one person who shall be present at all times during execution of the work and who shall be thoroughly familiar with the type of materials being installed. 4. Standards: Swimming Pool Plaster shall be deigned to comply with the published standards of the State and Local Health Department. In addition meet requirements of applicable portions of the most current edition of the National Plaster Council. 5. Standards: All Swimming Pool Frame and Grates shall be designed and comply with published standards to meet all VGBA federal requirements. Start-Up: 1. Contractor will furnish all start-up chemicals. 2. Contractor will furnish labor to condition and balance the pool water properly to the following specifications: a. Calcium Hardness: ppm b. Total Alkalinity: 100 ppm c. Chlorine Residual: ppm d. ph: Environmental Conditions: A. No plastering shall be done under unsuitable conditions of weather or temperature. No plastering shall be done when prevailing temperature is 40 degrees Fahrenheit or less.

5 B. Do not install plaster during rain and, if rain commences after plastering has begun, immediately protect the plaster from rain by all means necessary until the plaster has set. C. Do not install plaster during wind greater than 10 mph and, if wind commences after plastering has begun, immediately protect the plaster from wind by all means necessary until plaster has set. Plaster Color: A. Swimming Pool Plaster shall be white in color. Discrepancies: A. In the event of discrepancies, immediately notify Owner s Representative. 1. Scope of Work: (Base Bid) A. The contractor shall be responsible for draining the water out of the pool at the start of the project. The contractor will be responsible for draining any water which enters the pool after the initial draining. B. The removal of any hydrostatic valves in the pool floor and installation of relief valves will be done upon draining of the pool to insure against pool flotation. C. Removal of all existing Frame and Grates and installation of all new Frame and Grates to meet VGBA requirements. D. Remove six sets of wall steps and replace with new. E. Remove all pool lights and fixtures, seal conduit and grout in all light openings and plaster. F. Remove all electrical junction boxes associated with the pool lights and seal off all conduits from those boxes below concrete deck. G. Contractor to repair all racing lane tiles that are damaged by the preparation process. H. Double saw cut around all perimeter tile, floor tile, lights, vacuum lines, returns, lane lines, rope anchors, touch pads, drains and any other appurtenances being sure to completely remove plaster to allow for a uniform plaster finish at all exposed interior fixtures. I. Multicoat preparation is to be applied to the entire plaster surface. J. The entire plaster surface is to be washed and scrubbed with 20 baum muriactic acid as many times needed in order to remove any foreign materials and rough surfaces. K. Apply a solution of soda and water to the surface for acid neutralization. The accumulating acid and soda solutions shall be disposed of in an environmentally safe manner. L. The plaster coating shall consist of four parts white Portland cement, seven parts ground white marble and not more than 1%calcium. The mixture shall be applied to the shell in two coats. The finish coat shall be troweled finished to a smooth uniform finish. The plaster finish shall be a minimum 3/8 thick throughout. M. Refilling the pool with water will be performed when needed, by contractor at the owner s expense. The water used to refill the pool will need to be filtered from heavy metals in the source water. This will be the contractor s responsibility. The water to refill the pool will be

6 continuously added until the pool is filled. The contractor will furnish necessary chemicals to balance the pool ph, the pool chlorine, the pool total alkalinity and the pol calcium hardness. N. All water chemistry and filtration mechanical equipment shall be operational upon filling of pool after plaster. O. Contractor will be responsible for all clean-up of job and pool area. P. Contractor will be responsible for the restart of the pool circulation and filter system. Q. Contractor to install all new frame and main drain grates. (4 18 x18 Amin Drains to Code. R. Contractor to install tile trim on steps and benches to code S. Contractor to replace all floor fittings. T. Contractor to install all new fittings and eyeballs. U. Contractor responsible for repairing all racing lanes, targets and transition break line. (Short course and Long course.) V. Contractor to repair and replace all missing perimeter tile to match existing tile. W. Contractor to repair or replace all deck and gutter tile, as well as all depth markers. X. Contractor will be responsible for re-plastering surge pit. Y. Contractor to provide and install all new schedule 80 piping and float valves in surge pit to make sure surge pit operates correctly. Z. Contractor to install new ELC-800 Electronic Water Level Controller in Surge Pit. As per manufactures installation and recommendations. 2. Alternate #3 - Re-Plaster: Base bid items A through Z plus the following: A. The contractor is responsible for a complete removal of all plaster. Contractor to strip off the entire old cementitious surface coating to the hardest surface or original Gunite Shell. B. Contractor to replace all racing lines, both short course and long course and targets for both. C. Contractor to completely replace all perimeter tiles and gutter tile. Color of tile to be determined by owner. (It may be necessary to replace part or all of the gutter system beam during new tile of gutter system.) D. Contractor to replace all deck tile and depth markers. No Running and No Diving markers as well. E. Contractor to install new transition break tile. F. Contractor install underwater hockey line tile. Warranty: A. Contractor to provide written warranty and complete warranty parameters to owner at the completion of the job. The contactor will provide two copies.

7 Phase 3: Decking The University of Texas Health Science at Houston Swimming Pool Renovation Project 1.0 Scope of Work A. Demolition 1. Remove loose and bad section of spray deck, approximately 2618 sq. ft. B. Application 1. Contractor to repair all cracks with 2 part epoxy system 2. Multicoat Spray Deck with classic texture, approximately 15,864 sq. ft. Colors (2) to be decided by owner. 3. Remove and install new mastic or deck-o-seal in deck joints, approximately 2400 lin. Feet. Color to be decided by owner. 4. Install new mastic or deck-o-seal around pool, approximately 480 lin. Feet. Color to be decided by owner. Phase 4: Handicap Lift 1. Contractor to install new second handicap lift. (Model Spectrum Aquatics Motion Trek 350) 2. Lift to be third party tested and verified ADA compliant 3. Lift to have 350 pound load capacity. 4. Lift to be easily removed from stainless steel deck anchor. 5. Contractor responsible for installation of lift and lift anchor to meet all ADA requirements and in accordance with all applicable codes and regulations. Contractor to submit location of lift and lift anchor with owner for final verification.
