11 Summary/details of public hearing in tabular form: Issues raised by the Public Response/Commitment of Project Proponents Shri Sukhpal Singh Gurjar, R/o Ladana The locals should be allowed to quarry sand from their fields. The plantation has been carried out in small number by gram panchayat in the past but the rate of survival is very less. The quarrying should be carried out manually and not by deploying L&T machines such that more people can get employment. Shri Om Prakash Sharma, R/o Phagi, Wanted to know that on what basis the lease has been granted when sand/bajri is not available in Mashi and Bandi rivers. The royalty should not be realized from the farmers and the contractors are forcefully indulging in mining activities in the private land of farmers. Shri Badri Narayan, Member Kisan Sewa Samiti. Expressed his concern that due to mining there shall be lowering in water table and erosion of land. Very often words are exchanged between the villagers and the transporters engaged for carrying sand / bajri and that the pollution level is increased. The permission for carrying out quarrying operation from their fields may be obtained from the department of mining and geology as per RMMCR1986 amended upto The plantation work carried out by the gram panchayat is under different scheme and is not covered under the current project. The local people shall be employed in mining activities as well as other labour oriented works The PP has been issued LoI by the State Government on the basis of confirmed availability of sand in these rivers by the Mining and Geology Directorate, Rajasthan. Royalty is applicable for all minerals including sand / bajri as per RMMCR The mining is being carried out in revenue land in river section as per approved mine plan in the designated Khasra number. Due to mining in pre-monsoon season the water table may get lower due to loss of aquifer material (Sand/Bajri). This situation shall alter during monsoon season when there is flow in the river. The mining pits can be construed as the recharge structure having adequate capacity for impounding surface run-off during monsoon. For control of land erosion / incidence of bank erosion, a safety zone of 10m on either bank has been provided in the approved mining plan.
