5 PROCESS FOR OBTAINING A BUILDING PERMIT FOR ALL RESIDENTIAL DWELLINGS 1. Application must be completely filled out and presented along with a copy of the deed to the property and plans for the structure. Application must be presented and required fee for building permit paid at Vine Grove City Hall. 2. A minimum of three inspections will be required on all residential homes. A 24-hour notice must be given prior to these inspections. A. FOOTERS AND FOUNDATION All footers will be excavated and steel re-enforcement in place and tied up BEFORE INSPECTION. All plans should designate is a masonry fireplace is to be built. B. FRAMING INSPECTION Rough electric and rough plumbing inspections should be completed BEFORE CALLING FOR A FRAMING INSPECTION. C. FINAL INSPECTIONS Final electrical and plumbing inspections will have been completed with proper stickers in place. All residential homes built in an approved subdivision will have sidewalks completed before calling for final inspection. CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY A certificate of occupancy will be issued after the final inspection has been completed and approved. The builder and/or homeowner may then apply to have the water turned on in the new owner s name. Water will not be turned on or transferred into the new owner s name unless a certificate of occupancy has been issued by the building official and has been filed with Vine Grove City Hall. Appointments for footer or framing inspections for next day must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on the previous day.
