1 TERRADYN CONSULTANTS, LLC 10/30/17 Civil Engineering - Land Planning - Stormwater Design - Environmental Permitting 1644 Justin Brown, Code Enforcement Officer Town of Falmouth 271 Falmouth Road Falmouth, Maine Subject: Tuscan Way Development 80 Blackstrap Road, Falmouth Septic System Design Response to Comments Dear Justin Brown: Terradyn Consultants, LLC received your septic system review comments on October 5, We submitted the Tuscan Way Development plan set and materials for Final Planning Board Approval to the Town Planning Department on October 10, 2017, to be placed on the November 7, 2017 Planning Board meeting. The submission on October 10 th included updates to the septic system design based on your review comments. Below is a summary of the changes that took place. We worked with the septic designer Mark Cenci to complete this work. The separation distances from septic systems and stormwater management features was confirmed. The septic areas and reserve areas #3 and #4 were re-located to maintain the required 150 setback from the filter basin. The required 75 setback to the Level Lip Spreader is also shown on the plan, but no modifications resulted from this. These updates were reflected on the C-5.0 Utility Plan with revision date of for Final Plan Submission to the Town of Falmouth. The septic system locations were in generally the same location as previously designed, in an area of consistent soils. Mark Cenci has performed numerous soil test pits in the entire septic system area, which have previously been provided for your review and with previous submissions to the Town. Since the new alignment of the septic systems took place on October 10 th, Mark Cenci performed a few additional test pits to confirm the consistency and suitability of soils. These test pits are shown on the updated C Utility Plan with a date of included as Attachment A. The additional soils test pit data is included in Attachment B. Mark Cenci found that the soils in these additional test pits were consistent with the previously completed test pits, and that the area remains suitable for wastewater disposal. Additionally, responses to comments received on October 11, 2017 from the Falmouth Conservation Commission are included in the letter in Attachment B. P.O. Box 339 New Gloucester, ME Phone info@terradynconsultants.com
2 Mark Cenci provided a cover letter and HHE-200 forms with the submission on October 10 th to address your comments and finalize the septic system design. In this letter he provided responses to comments on the dual filtration beds, and repair timing and procedures. I ve re-attached this letter and the HHE-200 forms in Attachment C. We trust that the updated septic design included with the October 10 th submission, and the additional soil investigations completed as due-diligence, address your comments on the septic system design. Please contact me directly with additional questions or concerns. Any additional review comments you have regarding these systems would be appreciated so we can address them prior to the November 7 th Planning Board meeting. Sincerely, TERRADYN CONSULTANTS LLC Adrienne Fine, P.E.
