1 The goal in using an exam translator, interpreter or reader (TIR) is to translate the written form of an examination into another language for the examination candidate. A TIR cannot be used who may share their knowledge of the content of the examination as that knowledge must originate with the exam candidate. Where there is a reasonable expectation that a TIR may have knowledge of the examination s content and that they may (intentionally or otherwise) affect the exam results, it is practical to prohibit that TIR from translating a specific examination. The following are examples of (but are not limited to) trades and occupations that should be restricted from providing translator, interpreter or reader services to examination candidates.
