1 FACILITIES 2015 Summer Projects September 8, 2015 Board Meeting

2 On January 27, 2015 the Laguna Beach Unified School District Board of Education approved a 10-year facilities plan. The plan identified numerous projects based on a combination of school site feedback, community feedback, and replacement needs as identified in the 2014 facility condition assessment. A variety of funding sources were identified and the Business office created an implementation strategy that would allow facilities to complete the necessary projects. Facilities began developing the scope of work for each project and worked with legal counsel to generate the General Conditions required for each project. READY

3 Bidding took place from March through August on all the projects that were to begin, and in most cases be completed, by the end of August Facilities worked with every contractor to insure compliance with new Department of Industrial Relations regulations regarding public works projects. Careful review ensued of each project and bid to insure the lowest responsive and responsible bidder was awarded each project. Maintenance projects were awarded by facilities staff and formal bids taken to the Board for their approval. Then it happened SET

33 Cost estimates for projects identified in the 10-year plan that are complete or nearing completion total roughly $4.8M The actual cost for the projects complete or nearing completion currently sits at roughly $3.6M Significant planning has already began for projects, which includes the stadium renovation, district-wide lighting and mechanical replacements, and classroom additions and space reconfigurations SUMMARY
