BIM definition?

BIM definition? BIM is essentially value creating collaboration through the entire life-cycle of an asset, underpinned by the creation, collation and exchange of shared 3D models and intelligent, structured data attached to them Source:

BIM what it is (I think!) BIM is a (mindset) shift in current working practices BIM is essentially value creating collaboration through...the entire project lifecycle The process of creating a computer model of a building.project that can be used to design, analyse, build,.manage, refurbish and even demolish that building.including EVERYTHING in it & attributed to it BIM = Building Information Modelling or better still BIM = Better Information Management

BIM what it isn t It s not just 3D BIM is a (mindset) shift in current working practices BIM is essentially value creating collaboration through...the entire project lifecycle technology The process of creating a computer model application of a building.project that can be used to design, analyse, build,.manage, refurbish and even demolish that building BIM = Building Information Modelling or better still It s not just CAD BIM = Better Information Management It s not just a new It s not next generation, it s here NOW It s not just..!

BIM why? Growing population Erratic economical environment Sustainable development More complex projects Higher expectations Adapt to digitisation Future proofing... the FUTURE!

European Parliament The European Parliament voted to support a package of reforms to the EU Public Procurement rules to recommend the use of electronic tools, including BIM, on public works contracts. The new directive can be found within the Official Journal of the Europen Union (OJEU) Volume 57, dated 28 th March Article 22 (Rules applicable to communication) section 4: For public works contracts and design contests, Member States may require the use of specific electronic tools, such as of building information electronic modelling tools or similar All 28 member states now have the green light to encourage, specify or mandate similar measures (to those of the UK) for publicly-funded construction and building projects by 2016 Source - OJEU: Volume 57 (28 th March 2014)

BIM BIM Protocol A supplementary legal agreement that is incorporated into professional services appointments and construction contracts by means of a simple amendment Based on the direct contractual relationship between the employer and the supplier The primary objective is to enable the production of a BIM at defined project stages Source BIM Task Group

BIM GSL Enables a smooth transition from the design and construction phase to the operational phase of a built asset Compared with the POE (Post Occupancy Evaluation) it seeks to compare the required performance outcomes with the actual performance outcomes Source BIM Task Group
