3 Inspired by nature Timber gates look great the day they are installed but require plenty of upkeep to keep them looking their best. How best to reproduce the beauty of timber yet eliminate the need for maintenance? Stonebridge takes its inspiration from nature we use the very finest gate profiles in handcrafted timber to make our moulds which are then used to create the Stonebridge range of GRP gates. What is GRP? GRP glass reinforced polyester is ideal for making gates and is the same material used to make ocean going yachts. As you might expect, it is remarkably strong, yet able to reproduce every nuance and texture of the timbers used in the moulding process. GRP leaves behind the inherent problems of timber warping, twisting, shrinking, fading and rotting and replaces it with a material that is stable, lightweight, has no seams to split and won t sag, rot or warp over time and, weight for weight, is stronger than steel. Naturally we ve improved on the timber version the composite GRP structure requires none of the bracing seen on the rear of timber gates. 17 Finishes Every gate is hand finished at the final stage of the build process. Craftsman applied stains and antiquing give every surface a lasting resilience and improved fade resistance. There is no requirement for regular staining or significant upkeep over time, just long lasting good looks. GRP is used to faithfully reproduce every detail. The grain is enhanced with a base colour and then brought to life with expert antiquing. 17

18 Features Repairable should the worst happen and the gate sustains surface damage, our service engineers can often make an invisible repair. Built-in adjustable hinge attachments for perfect alignment. Wide range of wood tones and solid colours available. Stunning woodgrain finishes which are fade resistant and pre-aged. Lipped leading edges to swinging and bi-parting gates ensure privacy and security. GRP won t warp, rot, rust or shrink and has no seams to split it s the same tough material ocean going yachts are made from! Composite GRP sandwich construction for maximum strength, rigidity and minimum weight. Corrosion protected steel box section sub frame for solid attachment of all ironmongery and running gear such as hinges and automation. 18 Strategically placed galvanized steel stiffeners absorb and distribute the forces inherent in electric operation, wind loading and any attempts at ingress or attack. The rear face is matched to the front face of the Rising Swan Neck, Falling Swan Neck, Linear Sliding and Linear Swing, whilst the Tudor panel and Chevron styles feature attractive vertical boarding.

19 Options Side Gates Suited side gates are the ideal solution and finishing touch to pedestrian access. Available in three design profiles in widths 510 mm (1'8") mm (3'10") and heights 915 mm (3'0") mm (8'1"). Components All gates are available with high grade architectural ironmongery which, in many cases can be pre-fitted during the build process. Swing gates have high grade hinges built in as standard. Sliding gates are supplied with standard bottom rolling gear or ready to accept cantilever gear. Attractive handles, robust locking, a range of centre and side stops and guide rollers complete the package. A selection of components is shown below. An extensive range of accessories, including stops, locks, handles, guides and letterplates. UPVC Clad Posts Constructed from 70 mm x 70 mm sections to suit the height of selected side gate. Post section includes a rebated fixing groove with a clip on cover to conceal the fixings used. Available in woodgrain colours to closely match Dark Mahogany and Honey Beech or in plain, smooth white. Automation All gates accept automation mounting in standard locations that are compatible with most systems check the technical guide for full dimensional details. Alternative locations for strengthening can be incorporated at the time of manufacture. Concealed wiring ducts for maglocks and other access control systems are supplied as standard on Swing and Sliding gates. Fence Panels Matching panels are available please ask for details. 19

20 Warranty Stonebridge gates are guaranteed against any form of manufacturing defect for a period of two years from the date of original purchase. Should such a defect occur then Stonebridge will repair or replace the product at their cost. The exterior finish of the gate is guaranteed to provide an effective weatherproof membrane which will resist perforation from the substrate due to corrosion for a period of 5 years. Any colour change will be limited and uniform provided all surfaces are freely exposed to washing by rainfall and given equal exposure to local environmental conditions and consistent natural lighting conditions across the face of the gate. GRP gates should be periodically cleaned using warm water and a soft cloth or sponge and allowed to dry naturally. Detergents, abrasives, caustic or solvent based cleaners should never be used as they may damage the gate surface. Bird droppings should be removed immediately as these can be particularly caustic.
