1 MPA Project No. L1429-C1 Project Title: Terminal C Enhancements Location: Logan International Airport RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS and/or RFI s Date: 6/1/2018 The attention of Contractors submitting Filed Sub-Bids for the above referenced project are called to the following Responses to Questions and/or RFI s. Responses to Questions and/or RFI s: Item #1 Summary of Question: Specification Section Item 1.2-A-6. Lists Architectural. The specification does not list the Modeling Standards and scope of work for Architectural. Please clarify the extent of the modeling architectural modeling requirements and which trades or non trade bidders would be responsible for these services. Design Team Response: FMA will send along our architectural and structural models along with the existing conditions. Item #2 Summary of Question: Under section Asbestos Abatement item D "Unit price Scope of Work unit item # references 125 lf of pipe fitting insulation to be abated. Is this to be demolished or do we need to reinsulate? Design Team Response: Piping is to be demolished. All new insulation is specified under the HVAC or plumbing specifications. 1

2 Item #3 Summary of Question: item 1.25 Extra Materials. Please provide list of extra materials Design Team Response: Refer to specific product specification for extra material requirements. Item #4 Summary of Question: Please confirm that there is no Architectural Exposed Structural Steel (AESS). Design Team Response: Confirmed. No AESS. Item #5 Summary of Question: On detail 2/A-540 has exposed quartz material at the face of the restroom sink and a stainless steel panel system secured to millwork. What restroom does this apply? Design Team Response: Typical at both Men s and Women s departure level Restrooms Item #6 Summary of Question: On detail 4/A-601 " Typical Grade Beam Section" the 3" expanded polystyrene is only shown under the grade beam however on detail 1/A-522 shows the insulation to be at both sides and under the grade beam. Please clarify what is the correct detail. Design Team Response: See 1/A-522 for insulation typical at grade beam: both sides and below. Depth as called out on detail. The insulation is also continuous under the slab on grade see floor system detail 3/A-521. Item #7 Summary of Question: On elevation 18/A-405 "Dep Mens Restroom East" to the left of the framed glass mirrors appears to be an unframed mirror. Please confirm. Design Team Response: Confirmed - unframed Item #8 Summary of Question: On the finish drawing A-403 the Janitors closet and pet relief rms are 2

3 showing Sealed concrete however on the finish schedule shows the Janitors closet as terrazzo and the Pet relief as Ceramic tile. Please clarify Design Team Response: Janitors closet: sealed concrete. Pet Relief: ceramic tile and K-9 grass on top of resinous flooring for the urine. The epoxy resinous is under the grass and was specified under Painting Item #9 Summary of Question: Section A- Please clarify whether this is meant to be painting or priming. If it is painting, please clarify it should be done by painter. Design Team Response: Per MPA confirmation painting is not by plumbing contractor, contractor may remove painting, keep priming. Refer also to Addendum #2. Item #10 Summary of Question: Section request that specific locations of the seismic joints be shown on the plumbing drawings Design Team Response: Clarify question. Pharagraph 3.4 in Section calls for installation requirements. Item #11 Summary of Question: Section references heat tracing. Please confirm this required and provide specification Design Team Response: There are no outdoor plumbing piping in this project, contractor use section 3.10 INDOOR PIPING INSULATION SCHEDULE for insulation schedule. Refer also to Addendum #2. Item #12 Summary of Question: Section Domestic water Piping- will use of progress be allowed? Design Team Response: Only per Massport approval. Contractor should confirm approval before send submittal. Refer also to Addendum #2. 3

4 Item #13 Summary of Question: Section mentions FOG disposal systems, grease interceptors, grease removal devises, and oil interceptors-please advise where required and provide specification for each item(other than the grease interceptor, which is specified) Design Team Response: These are just listing of equipment which could be inserted to this section. Contractor responsible for the piping and specialties specified in PART 2 - PRODUCTS. Item #14 Summary of Question: Section C and D mention downspout boots and conductor nozzles. Can one of the lines be deleted? Design Team Response: Contractor may remove line 3.9.C in Section regarding downspout boots. Refer also to Addendum #2. Item #15 Summary of Question: Section B additional tests are specified. Please define what the near peak periods are. Design Team Response: Summer conditions = 91F, Winter = 7F. Item #16 Summary of Question: Section para E and F please indicate required hours for instruction and training Design Team Response: Min. 20 hours, per specification. Item #17 Summary of Question: Section D.1.b please clarify what this scope entails Design Team Response: Related to any smoke detectors provided by the FA contractor, to be installed in ductwork by the mechanical contractor. 5 Summary of Question: Bond General Requirements, dated 5/23/2018, on page 1 has project reference for MPA Project # L1430-C2- Terminal B- Post Security Concourse from Gates 37 & 38 to the Food Court. Please confirm this is for project L1429-C1 CM Response: Yes, change project name to MPA Project # L1429-C1 Terminal C Enhancements Item #19 Summary of Question: Bond General Requirements, dated 5/23/2018, on page 2, line item #23 refers to an off hour shift but the time of this shift is not specified. Please advise. CM Response: The normal work hours will be from 7AM to 3PM, and the off hour shift will be from 10PM to 4AM. Item #20 Summary of Question: Bond General Requirements, dated 5/23/2018, page 3, line item #40 refers to daily clean up to hampers provided, unless otherwise noted. Please clarify. CM Response: Refer to trade specific clarifications on Bond General Requirements and Contract Documents for any notation trade specific to daily clean up requirements. This notation is intended to define the minimum requirement for clean up of work area. Item #21 Summary of Question: Bond General Requirements, dated 5/23/2018, page 3, line item #48, refers to permits to be provided by subcontractors. Please confirm BOND will provide building permit. CM Response: Yes, Bond will provide building permit. Item #22 Summary of Question: Bond General Requirements, dated 5/23/2018, page 3, line item #50, refers to cutting and capping but is unclear. Please provide clarification: CM Response: Replace line item #50 in entirety with the following: Where cutting and capping of existing system is shown on contract drawings, the specified trade contractor shall remove 5 of the existing system at the location identified to be capped, then drop to the floor for removal by demolition subcontractor. The remainder of demolition of MEP/FP systems shown to be removed will be by Demolition Subcontractor. 5

6 Item #23 Summary of Question: Bond General Requirements, dated 5/23/2018, page 3, line item #51, and on line item #61 page 4, refers to connections of existing and new systems to meet performance criteria specified. Please specify the performance criteria. CM Response: Replace line item #51 in its entirety with the following: Prior to any modifications to the existing systems, including all MEP/FP/Tel Data systems, trade contractor shall review the current performance of the existing system, and upon completion of connection between the new and existing system is installed under this project, the specified trade contractor must make adjustments necessary to ensure that the existing system performance meets the original performance of said system. Delete Line item #61 on page 4 in its entirety. Item #24 Summary of Question: Bond General Requirements, dated 5/23/2018, page 3, line item #54 refers to apprentices and sundries. Please clarify CM Response: Replace apprentices with appurtences Item #25 Summary of Question: Bond General Requirements, dated 5/23/2018, page 8, line item #145 refers to temporary exhaust for terrazzo, please clarify. CM Response: HVAC subcontractor shall provide temporary exhaust flex duct from negative air machine, provided by others, placed in each area during the placement of the terrazzo. Temporary duct shall run from negative air machine to exterior of building via temporary penetration in the exterior wall at the departures level to the West of PB-P line. CM to provide temporary penetration in the exterior wall. HVAC to provide closure plate/fittings on both side of existing wall to seal the duct at the penetration in the exterior wall. Penetration shall include wire mesh in the wall penetration to meet security requirements to penetrate wall. Item #26 Summary of Question: Bond General Requirements, dated 5/23/2018, page 8, line item #148 refers to monitor of temp units. Please clarify 6

7 CM Response: The HVAC trade contractor shall provide one monitor point to each temp unit, to report back to Building Automation System, to report on/off status. Item #27 Summary of Question: Drawing E501.1, note #1 refers to unit price but no unit price is requested on trade bid cover sheet. Is a unit price required? MPA Response: No unit price is required. Note #1 on Sheet %501.0 does not refer to a unit Price. See also Addendum #1. Item #28 Summary of Question: On drawing M402.2 in the retail space the duct work is drawn up to the VAV boxes. Is pricing based only on what is specifically drawn? Design Team Response: Yes. Item #29 Summary of Question: On drawing M401.2 in the JetBlue space the supply air just ends with no note of a wire mesh screen or any type or register or diffuser. Is pricing based only on what is drawn? Does the duct work in this space end with a wire mesh screen? Design Team Response: Yes pricing is to be based only on what is drawn. No, the duct work in this space will not end with a wire mesh screen. Item #30 Summary of Question: Is the file SUB bid due on June 7 th at 11am or is that the General Bid date? If it is the General bid date, when is the bid date for SUB bids? Design Team Response: Filed SUB bid due date is June 7, 2018, as noted in Addendum #1. Item #31 Summary of Question: Please confirm that MBE/WBE requirements are not applicable to the HVAC FSB. 7

8 MPA Response: Correct, the MBE/WBE requirements are not applicable to ANY trade bidder. Item #32 Summary of Question: Please identify the liquidated damages associated with the contract. CM Response: There are no liquidated damages associated with this contract. Item #33 Summary of Question: Please confirm that all hazardous material removal is not by the HVAC contractor. CM Response: All hazardous material will be removed by the Abatement Contractor. Item #34 Summary of Question: Please confirm the ductwork sealant, pipe insulation and gasket materials have been tested for asbestos. MPA Response: An environmental/hazardous material survey has been completed for this project. Refer to Exhibit F.1 in the CM Authored Documents. Item #35 Summary of Question: Confirm that the work and materials described in non-electrical specifications or shown on non-electrical drawings, without also being described in the electrical specifications, is for coordination purposes only and shall not be part of the electrical contractor s bid for this project. MPA Response: The work and materials described in the non-electrical specifications and drawings, that is not described in the electrical specifications or drawings is for coordination purposes and is not to be included in the trade bid for electrical work. Item #36 Summary of Question: Per the Electrical Proposal Section of the bid requirements, the successful 8

9 bidder will be required to purchase and maintain Bodily Injury Liability Insurance and Property Damage Liability Insurance for a combined single limit of $10 Million. Please clarify if the electrical subcontractor is required to maintain this insurance at this limit, or is it the responsibility of the General Contractor. Please confirm if by signing the bid form the electrical trade contractor is affirming and certifying the $10 million insurance limit is secured at the time of the bid or shall be in place at the time of the contract award and project commencement. MPA Response: Please refer to Specification Division IIB, Article 12, Insurance for all requirements. Item #37 Summary of Question: Please confirm who owns F&I the self-adhering AVB on the CMU back up. Design Team Response: Specification Section WaterProofing Damp Proofing Caulking. Item #38 Summary of Question: Please confirm who owns F&I the 3" Insulation behind masonry veneers. Design Team Response: Construction Manager non-trade subcontractor. Item #39 Summary of Question: Please confirm who owns F&I the fire rated water resistive barrier over the 3" insulation behind masonry veneers.
