9 PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 PREPARATION A. Protection of In-Place Conditions: 1. Work Area Protection: Protect work areas from excessive dust and other airborne contaminants during surface preparation and carpeting installation. B. Surface Preparation: 1. Test substrates for alkalinity (ph), MVER, and relative humidity as required by the manufacturer. 2. Remove from substrates all coatings and other substances that are chemically or adhesively incompatible with adhesives; or that may negatively affect the quality of the installation, durability, appearance, or performance of the carpeting or the carpeting adhesives. C. Dry Laying: To verify colors and to ensure patterns develop accurately, dry lay carpeting before adhering to substrate. Obtain Architect s approval before proceeding with installation. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. General: 1. Comply with the specified quality standard s requirements for direct glue-down installation; and with the manufacturer s installation instructions for installing carpeting and accessories. 2. Use materials and methods required, recommended, approved, or accepted by the manufacturer, along with manufacturer-recommended accessories and techniques. B. Special Techniques: 1. Refer to Attachments for CP2A, CP2B, and CP2C for carpet pattern layouts. 2. Do not bridge building expansion joints with carpeting. 3. Cut and fit carpeting to butt tightly to vertical surfaces, permanent fixtures, and builtin furniture including cabinets, pipes, outlets, edgings, thresholds, and nosings. Bind or seal cut edges as recommended by manufacturer. 4. Extend carpeting into toe spaces, door reveals, closets, open-bottomed obstructions, removable flanges, alcoves, and similar openings. 5. Maintain reference markers, holes, and openings that are in place or marked for future cutting by repeating on carpeting as marked on subfloor. Use nonpermanent, non-staining marking device. TILE CARPETING

10 C. Conformance: Completed work, including patterns and installation methods must match the approved shop drawings and dry laying as determined by the Architect. END OF SECTION ATTACHMENTS TILE CARPETING
