5 HAPAS APPROVED HAPAS APPROVED Overbanding Crack Infill ROAD CRACK AND joint SEAlING SYSTEM CRACK AND FRETTED joint INFIll SYSTEM CRaCKS and SeaMS SealeR Overbanding is the first HAPAS approved overbanding system to seal and protect cracks, seams and joints in asphalt. Traditional overbanding SealeR for large CRaCKS and fretted joints has been considered unsafe in recent years because it spreads and loses its skid resistance under traffic load, causing a hazard in the road. Overbanding maintains its skid resistance throughout its life and is stable, so does not spread. Based on our advanced MMA technology rather than bitumen, Overbanding offers a completely new approach to overbanding and is safe and easy to use. Water ingress into an asphalt pavement through cracks and vertical joints is one of the main causes of degradation of asphalt pavements, leading to potholes and open joints. Overbanding arrests this decay in a safe and low cost way, keeping our roads open and minimising costly repair work. Overbanding is the first overbanding product to comply with the New Roads and Streetworks Act for utility reinstatement work. SafeTRaCK overbanding BulK HAPAS Type 1 approved Overbanding Fast and cost effective High wear resistance Cold applied and safe in service SafeTRaCK overbanding PaTCh Fretted or open joints in asphalt pavements are becoming more widespread due to the failure to seal joints initially and the lack of timely maintenance. Fretted joints create a significant safety risk in the short term and lead to substantial breakdown of the pavement in the medium term, resulting in the need to resurface the road earlier than would otherwise be necessary. Crack Infill has been designed specifically to comply with the requirements of a HAPAS Type 2 fill and overband system for the rapid repair of fretted joints without resurfacing. Stirling Lloyd s tough MMA resin based system supports the broken asphalt faces on both sides of the joint, as well as filling the open joint without risk of rutting afterwards. Most importantly it prevents water entering the pavement structure and arrests the decay process. A 30 minute return to service means minimal disruption to road users. 6 for Micro-Trenching SAFETRACK MTI, CRACK INFIll AND SAFETRACK OVERBANDING SafeTRaCK - The ReinSTaTeMenT SoluTion for MiCRo-TRenChing Micro-Trenching is emerging around the world as the new, faster, more cost effective and less disruptive way to install fibre optic cables. It is being used to install super fast broadband networks and other communications networks. Fibre network bundles are small so there is no need to excavate a road mm wide and 600mm+ deep when installing these cable ducts. New techniques are available to cut and lay these cables, but new surfacing techniques are required in order to reinstate the road surface afterwards as a typical micro-trench is only 20mm wide and around 150mm deep. Traditional surfacing products cannot be used to reinstate such a narrow width as adequate compaction is not possible. In addition, to reduce the long term degradation of the surfacing the reinstatement needs to seal the micro-trench from water ingress and support and bond to both sides of the trench. Therefore, micro-trench reinstatements require a product that is: Free flowing to the bottom of the trench Self compacting Simple and safe to use Obtains a high bond strength Stable under traffic load Suitable for the road environment (retains its SRV and HAPAS approved) The range contains several products, all fully compatible with each other, suitable for the successful re-instatement of micro-trenches. These can be combined to provide the ideal solution wherever the trench is located. SafeTRaCK MiCRo-TRenCh infill (MTi) The latest addition to the Range, MTI is used to fill the micro-trench to 10mm from the surface. MTI is pigmented bright yellow - helping overcome one of the main concerns of clients accidental damage to the fibres during subsequent road works in later years. Once a contractor reveals the bright yellow material he can stop digging and proceed with caution as he has been alerted a fibre duct is present. A yellow stripe down the road is unlikely to be acceptable, so the reinstatement of the microtrench is completed with Overbanding or Crack Infill depending on the location. SafeTRaCK CRaCK infill When located in the road, HAPAS approved Crack Infill is used to infill the final 10mm of the micro-trench. This high modulus material is not only exceptionally resistant to wear, but also provides the skid resistance required and the texture depth suitable for the road surface. SafeTRaCK overbanding When located in a footway, HAPAS approved Overbanding is the preferred choice to infill the final 10mm of the micro-trench. It provides a finer finish in keeping with the aesthetic requirements of a footway and provides the lowest profile reinstatement, avoiding any trip hazard. HAPAS Approved Overbanding or Crack Infill MTI free flowing and self compacting indicator infill from 10mm below the surface, throughout the asphalt. MTI takes up the exact shape of the cut surface and bonds the road back together with a bond strength in excess of the asphalt cohesive strength. Protection and Isolation Layer Fibre Optic Cable Ducts Protection and Isolation Layer BenefiTS A micro-trench reinstatement completed using the range offers the following benefits: Free flowing, self-compacting material - completely fills the trench, without compaction. Supports the trench on both sides - providing a watertight seal and avoids long term deterioration of the road around the cut asphalt. Forms a strong bond between the cut faces of the micro-trench - helps the road retain its integrity. High modulus material - will not rut or deform under traffic. Flexible resin which in-situ behaves like asphalt - ensures a long and effective service life. Finish is flush with the road surface - no problems with standing water. Cold application with no hot trades - safe to apply, both for the operative and when in close proximity to the public. Ideal for multi-site utility reinstatement work. Exceptionally quick installation and cure with minimal equipment - rapid return to service and minimum disruption to the local community. High daily outputs - cost effective application

7 for Manhole Covers SAFETRACK OVERBANDING HAPAS APPROVED EPM PATCH REPAIR SKiD ReSiSTanCe for existing Manhole CoVeRS highly DuRaBle RoaD PaTChing MaTeRial EPM is a high strength, fast curing patch repair system designed for the rapid re-instatement of the carriageway. Impact and Metal surfaces in the road such as manhole covers, can provide a significant skid risk to some road users - particularly motorcyclists. Initially manhole covers may have an adequate skid resistance but they polish over time. In November 2009, The Design Manual for Roads and Bridges was revised to call for skid resistance to be provided on manhole covers. Whilst some manufacturers now make manhole covers utilising products to provide skid resistance, there are many manhole covers already in the road that are performing adequately apart from the skid resistance of their surface. Stirling Lloyd can now offer products in small packs, suitable for the application of skid resistance retrospectively to the surface of existing manhole covers. One reason Overbanding gained HAPAS approval was it s retention of skid resistance under traffic in the long term. As a thick resin it can be applied to irregular surfaces, such as a castellated manhole cover, to provide a skid resistant, hard wearing coating for trafficked surfaces. Unlike many products designed for road use, products achieve a very good bond to iron and steel surfaces, as well as asphalt. In addition, metal covers flex under traffic load; therefore to succeed a coating must be capable of flexing with the metal, rather than cracking. products have been designed specifically with sufficient flex for this purpose. Excellent skid resistance retention Simple to apply High bond strength to metal = long service life Designed for highway use shock resistant, the system offers excellent long-term skid resistance and performance whilst being easy and safe to apply, cutting out hot trades and avoiding vibration risks. Achieving high early strengths and with a rapid cure, the system enables the road to be re-opened to traffic in the shortest possible time, with no compromise on long term performance. Road patching material Designed for the Highways Agency Complies with and listed in HA Interim Advice Note 90/07 Complies with Clause 995 Very simple to use - no specialist tools required No hot trades Self compacting Long term performance Minimal surface preparation SRV >55 Cold applied SafeTRaCK epm KiT EPM is supplied in a kit that contains all the components and equipment for anyone to quickly and easily apply the system.
