39 3 Structural safety regulations en 3.1 General information Chassis beams and stabilisers ensure that the scaffold tower is stable. However, depending on the place of deployment (indoor / outdoor use), these may need to be fitted with ballast weights. For the ballasting, see Parts list incl. ballasting on page 29 (lower section of the tables) 3.2 Attaching the ballast Where the ballast weights are attached and how many of them are required depend on the specific set-up and platform height of the scaffold unit. On mobile scaffold towers with stabilisers, ballast weights with fastening clamps (Order No ) must be used. The ballast weights must be attached as close as possible to the foot of the stabiliser or on the foot of the scaffold unit (scaffold unit types and 53199). 3.3 Attaching the anti-twist device To prevent the stabilisers being twisted unintentionally, they should be secured with the anti-twist device (Order No ). One end of the anti-twist device is attached to the stabiliser, the other to the first rung. 39

40 3.4 Maintenance, servicing, storage and cleaning The scaffold unit can be cleaned using water with a little household cleaning agent added. Paint spots can be removed using turpentine. Cleaning agents must not be allowed to seep into the soil. Dispose of used cleaning fluids in accordance with the applicable environmental regulations. Lubricating moving parts Lubricate all moving parts (height adjusters, bearings of the swivel castors, fasteners) with normal lubricating oil. Select a thin-bodied oil when using the scaffold unit in winter. Dispose of oil-soaked cleaning cloths in accordance with the relevant environmental protection regulations. WARNING Danger of falling due to slippery tread surfaces! Lubricating oil on tread surfaces causes falls and injuries. Wipe off superfluous oil. Transportation and storage Store scaffold unit components in such a way that they cannot be damaged. Store scaffold unit components so that they are protected against the effects of weathering. During transport to and from the place of storage, the scaffold unit components must be secured to prevent sliding and impact. Do not throw the scaffold unit components when loading them. 3.5 Testing the scaffold unit components If defects are ascertained, the affected components must not be used again.
