1 Pipeline renovation with Omega-Liner close-fit lining

2 Omega-Liner close fit lining fast and reliable solution for sewer renovation In the Omega-Liner close-fit lining the old sewer pipeline is replaced by a new pipe, made of durable and resilient plastics. The Omega-Liner pipe is inserted in a folded shape via a manhole directly into the main sewer; the existing sewer needs not be excavated out. The lining pipe is reversed back into its round shape by heating, and it is expanded firmly against the walls of the host pipe using internal pressure. The result is always a continuous pipeline that covers the entire manhole distance without joints. Applications Omega-Liner close-fit lining is intended for renovating gravity sewers. The inside diameter of the pipe is only reduced by the wall thickness of the Omega- Liner pipe. Due to its excellent flow properties, the capacity of the sewer is not reduced more likely, it is increased. Omega-Liner is excellent for targets in which there are cracks, broken parts or minor displacements in the existing pipe. The Omega-Liner features considerably reduced construction times, economical process engineering and good material properties. Thus providing high-level technical progress and advantages in installation and operation of the repaired piping. Omega-Liner benefits: Special plastic material particularly designed for sewer renovation A wide variety of sizes No loss of capacity Quick no-dig installation, very economical Resistant and long-lasting material No environmental impacts such as smells Recyclable material NRG Nordic Renovation Group Omega-Liner is a registered trademark of Uponor Innovation Ab.

3 The Omega-Liner pipe The innovation of the Omega-Liner is based on material technology patented by Uponor (one of the largest plastic pipe manufacturers in the world) and is made of a plastic material specially modified for use in pipe relining. In the manufacturing phase, the pipe is folded into a smaller size to facilitate transport and relining. The preheated pipe is sufficiently flexible to bend through the inspection manhole to the sewer to be relined. Due to its memory, the relined pipe then regains its original round shape by means of raised temperature. The raw material of the Omega-Liner The raw material of the Omega-Liner is a polymer alloy. Briefly, a polymer alloy is an immiscible, but compatibilized polymer compound having a modified interface and morphology. The compound comprises of two different polymers, thermoplastic polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and elastomer, and the additives. Pipe sizes DN mm (SN 8) Product no DN mm (SN 4) Product no As a result of melt compounding, the properties of a hard thermoplastic material and a more flexible elastomer are combined in the final product. The thermoplastic gives Omega-Liner tensile strength and ring stiffness, while the elastomer provides impact resistance, elasticity, and a lower softening temperature area. 4 Technical properties Seamless pipe with strong structure The seamless pipe of abrasion resistant material guarantees excellent hydraulic properties. The capacity of the renovated line usually exceeds that of the original pipe. A sewer renovated using the Omega- Liner method has a particularly strong structure. The new and the old pipe together form a combination that will withstand great external loads. The ring stiffness of the pipe is 4 kn/m 2 or 8 kn/m 2 (SN4 or SN8); i.e. the end result is equivalent to a new pipe. 5 Easy to install 100% durable result No excavation The deformed Omega-Liner pipe is easy to reline through the inspection manhole to the sewer to be renovated. Several manhole distances can be relined at one time. In connection with the pipeline renovation, old concrete manholes are rehabilitated using HDPE repair chambers, tailored on site to fit the specific point in the pipeline. No annular space to be filled Raised temperature causes the relined pipe to regain its round shape and internal pressure expands it uniformly to the inside dimensions of the pipe to be renovated. No annular space remains between the existing pipe and the inserted pipe. Excellent flow properties A continuous Omega-Liner pipe made of hard-wearing plastic guarantees excellent flow properties for the pipe system. Compared to the existing pipe, the capacity of the renovated line is improved. Load capacity Quality control and documentation The customer receives both a written and a video-taped document of the Omega-Liner installation as proof that the job has been completed. 6 Installation The Omega-Liner close-fit lining is a practical, durable and economical method. Pulling the folded Omega-Liner pipe through a manhole into the host pipe is simple. The installation unit is equipped with a steam boiler, compressor, water tank, winch and tools. Renovation without excavation minimizes traffic barriers and influence on the surroundings. The installation process in brief Omega-Liner pipe is inserted in a folded shape into the old pipe. 2. Heating the Omega-Liner pipe with steam causes the pipe to recover the original round shape. 3. After the pipe has obtained its original round shape, compressed air is fed to the pipe for expansion. 4. As a result the Omega-Liner pipe is expanded firmly against the walls of the old pipe. Preparatory work The present condition of the pipeline is examined The pipeline is flushed clean, and possible obstructions are removed The cleaned pipeline is documented using CC TV The lining pipe is warmed up A winch and the pipe reel are positioned on the work site By-pass pumping is arranged, if necessary 6 NRG Nordic Renovation Group

7 The insertion of the pipe A towing head for the pulling wire is fastened onto the end of the pipe. The pipe is pulled into the host pipe. Rounding the pipe Sealing ends and sensors for measuring temperatures are fitted onto each end of the pipe. Omega-Liner-pipe is warmed up, and it reverts back into its original round shape. The pipe s diameter is inflated with pressure, to press it firmly against the old pipe. Completion work The pipe is cooled off Pressure is dropped and sealing ends are removed The ends of the pipe are cut to the correct length Connection laterals are cut open Connection laterals are sealed, when required, using e.g. a top-hat or a standard plastic fitting Completion control is done using TV inspection A video recording and a site report are made of the object The site is cleaned to original condition NRG Nordic Renovation Group 7
