SFO Air Traffic Control Tower Many doubted the possibility of completing a successful aluminum composite panel installation on this geometrically complex tower. KPS, in partnership with Pacific Erectors, demonstrated the unique ability to deliver this building successfully. Together with all of the team members credited here, a masterpiece was achieved at the San Francisco International Airport. Built entirely from a theoretical Revit model, this project is a shining example of the capabilities of BIM based design and construction. 3 Solving the specific challenges of working with natural metal surfaces is one of our greatest strengths. The Columbus Museum of Art features 22,000 square feet of prepatinated copper in KPS A. The expressive blue patina was applied to the flat sheet prior to fabrication, producing the appearance of copper with over fifty years of exposure. Your system worked out perfectly, and gave us exactly what we were looking for. The project has received glowing reviews from both the press and the general public, and the museum is both happy and proud of the project. 4 Marine Gateway Completing the massive Marine Gateway development was a challenging endeavour, but one that KPS was uniquely capable of handling properly. Over 200,000 square feet of façade product was successfully engineered, fabricated, and installed including aluminum composite panels, terracotta, and decorative extruded aluminum grilles. This required a crew of more than 40 field installers supported by local fabrication working throughout a 15 month installation schedule. Highlighting the architectural façade are the custom iridescent colour shifting Alucobond panels installed with KPS A. KPS helped Perkins+Will create a visionary transit oriented development at Marine Gateway in their attention to detail and their collaborative approach to design and construction. Their willingness to address issues of envelope performance and sustainability while exacting high standards of quality and beauty is remarkable. KPS was the natural choice given Marine Gateway s size, schedule, and complexity. Their experienced team helped guide the project through design development, budgeting, scheduling, shop drawings, procurement and construction. The material allows for large panel modules; keeping cost low while maintaining a flat surface without any pillowing or surface undulation. The high gloss of the glass interacts with the ever changing ambient light conditions and the neutral coloured surface of the material. This creates visual effects that are unique to glass, and this desirable aesthetic is offered by KPS in an advanced Rainscreen wall panel system.
