It is hard to say, because of wide variances of import costs of materials and labor; we cannot estimate a finished price. MHS concrete foundations will be reviewed by a local structural engineer or provided by MHS based on our MHS technical details, according to load tables and local building codes. Expanded or Extruded polystyrene can be used with MHS panels with approved APA as a sandwich panel. FSIP

8 Is there any formaldehyde in the foam? EPS does NOT contain CFC s, HCFC s, or formaldehyde. EPS does NOT contribute to the growth of mold or mildew. EPS is considered to be no more toxic than Douglas Fir wood under the worst case fire scenario. EPS is manufactured in accordance with ASTM C578. EPS is recyclable. What happens when the panels burn? The toxicity given off from our foam during combustion is about the same as that from wood. The key advantage of using FSIP panels. FSIP panels with skins of flameproof magnesium hard boards and EPS infill with covered edges and foam protected by the MHS framing channels. This delays the spread of flame. Blocking fire access to the EPS foam core slows melting and combustion. (Melting point of EPS is about 170ºF). In case of fire the buildings load carried by MHS framing has a melting point of 700ºF. MHS framing will retain its structural integrity in fire and not provide fuel to the fire. What are the building code requirements for panels relative to fire?

9 Building and fire codes vary from location to location. Usually, a 15 minute finish rating is required for light construction type 5 SIP panels, with an interior layer of 1/2" drywall. What is the wall finish fire rating of MHS Panel? The complete fire rating for the MHS FSIP is currently being tested yet preliminary test are showing about one hour. What is the energy efficiency rating of MHS Aluminum Framing? Percentage of the energy needed to manufacture all industrial raw materials, according to a 1987 study. 10 MHS/SIP homes can reduce annual energy use by 50% percent or more over the building energy code. Who takes care of erecting a MHS Framing Envelope? MHS trained and certified general contractors or FSIP's installer crews are responsible for MHS/FSIP erection. MHS can recommend experienced installers in many regions. What are the foundation requirements? The foundation installation according to specifications provided by MHS can be built on a slab on grade or on concrete walls, pillars or footings. The foundation is built within close tolerances by an approved provider, Due the accuracy of the supplied components, even slightest inaccuracies in levels or even being out of square can result in problems with framing erection. What happens if it rains while the framing is being erected? MHS/FSIP assembles are not damaged by rain. Building Installation can start any time during all four seasons.

11 Can I finish my own MHS home?

12 Depending on the fabrication and assembly agreement some can be complete by you. General and basic skills are required to finish your new MHS home. Homeowners may do most of the work themselves if they choose to, some subcontracting is required for electrical and plumbing work. How is the roof finished? Almost any light shingles or metal roofing is recommended to use. By following manufacture installation details. Green roofs can be used over the MHS roof framing system. Is exterior siding applied directly to the panel skin? A moisture barrier should be used between the panels and siding. An air barrier such as Tyvek or Grace Water proofing can be used. In most situations, especially such as with wide board and batten siding, wood strapping should be attached to the wall first, then the siding secured to the strapping. Are windows and doors difficult to install? No. Windows and doors are very easy to install in a MHS wall or roof. Units are set into the rough openings (which were built into the shell) and shimmed to level, as per instructions provided by the window and door manufacturers. Then the perimeters are sealed with low expanding foam sealant or TyveK Flashing resulting in an extremely energy efficient installation. Care must be used when foaming around windows and doors so as not to swell the casings. How are interior walls installed? Interior partition walls are generally constructed of 2x4s or just using SIP by itself and sheathed with drywall as in conventional frame construction. Where an interior partition wall meets an exterior wall, the edge stud is nailed or screwed into the skin of the panel.

15 A1 Office Building project Dubai How do you run wiring in panels? There are a number of options for running electrical wiring in a MHS frame. Horizontal wiring runs are usually carried under the floor or drop ceiling, Depending on the MHS foundation design and finishing over the FSIP. Before drywall is installed utilities can run along the foundation channel under the beams to anywhere in the building, easy access for maintenance. How do you run plumbing in a MHS Home? There are almost no differences between plumbing a MHS home and plumbing a conventionally framed house. Plumbing runs should be kept in interior (conventionally framed) partition walls or in specially constructed plumbing chases. How are walls finished in a MHS Home? Walls are usually finished with drywall on the interior face or other fire proof materials, on SIP walls; drywall is installed directly over the surface of panels, applied either vertically or horizontally. Some builders use construction organic adhesive in applying drywall to the panels, enabling them to use fewer fasteners.

16 How are kitchen cabinets installed? A1 Office Building project Dubai Kitchen cabinets are very easy to install in MHS WALLS. Along exterior walls, cabinets are screwed directly into skin of the panels. Because a single layer of FSIP is not as thick as a frame, you should use a few more fasteners. Screws are recommended for cabinet attachment. For the strongest attachment, cabinets should be secured directly to the FSIP skin and drywall. What is the best type of heating system for a MHS/ SIPs home? Any type of heating system can be used. Talk to your heating contractor or general contractor for recommendations as well as floors and wall heating system MHS SIPs homes are able to provide heat by using one to two cords of firewood per year! With wood heat, a source of outside combustion air is recommended. Can you combine MHS building system with other kinds of roof system? 17 The practice of sustainable architectural design attempts to reduce the collective environmental impact during the production of building components, during the construction process and during the life cycle of the building. The Modular Housing System from Unique Structural Systems is a pre engineered system using a variety of aluminum programming extrusions for post and beam framing connected by a patented, concealed bolt and clamp component. This is supplemented by bolt in place corner fixtures for multi story structures usually concealed within wall panels. The MHS sheathing system uses either Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), FSIP or a combination of other panel materials which slide into the channels of the framing members. The system can be assembled manually with the use of a simple impact wrench and framing members connected anywhere along their length. This provides virtually limitless design options in any rectilinear configuration without additional demands on labor during construction as well as employment of local workers who can be trained in one day.
