2 SAINT-GOBAIN GLASS SYSTEMS SGG LITE-FLOOR The emotional challenge for functional glass flooring A p p l i c a t i o n s SGG LITE-FLOOR is a transparent or translucent glass element allowing to control artfully interior lightening conditions. Its durable properties allow to use SGG LITE-FLOOR in an external application to enhance the ambience of an outdoor terrace. Due to its mechanical and structural behaviour SGG LITE-FLOOR allows for adventurous architecture and is typically selected for use as: - glass floors - glass bridges - stairs - landings A d v a n t a g e s Clearly elegant Structural Developed as a readily engineered product available in many shapes and sizes. Custom design and manufacture is possible to suit project specific requirements. Engineering and design services are available. Safety SGG LITE-FLOOR remains intact with a reduced load-bearing capacity*. Additional integrity can be offered by using specific interlayers. Slip resistance is achieved by using patterns which are available in standard or custom designs (e.g. logos) and colors. The patterns may also provide ability to control light and transparency. Aesthetical Using low iron float glass SGG DIAMANT allows true rendition of colors and achieves maximum transmission of natural light. Translucent interlayers are available for privacy, back projection and light diffusing applications. A wide choice of colored interlayers provide further design options. 3 S t a n d a r d s a n d c o d e s The load bearing capacity and the design method of SGG LITE-FLOOR have been validated by testing to numerous standards (e.g. DIN ). The glass type and thickness to be used will finally depend on the method of support, the design loads and local building codes. Glass breakage is highly unlikely in normal service due to high safety factors applied. Should, however, glass breakage occur, it is necessary that the glass not be walked on and it be replaced as soon as possible. The slip-resistance performance has been tested to internationally recognized standards (e.g. ASTM F , UKSRG 2 and BS ). Recommendations for thickness, slip-resistance ratings, dimensions, methods of support and installation proposals can be obtained from your local representative.

4 G l a z i n g Support methods and installation Standard applications are typically supported continuously on two opposite or all edges. In order to allow a longer span on a two-sided supported unit an additional support may be added in the middle of the span. Non standard applications (e.g. point supported) must be individually designed. All glazing material (e.g. silicone) needs to be compatible with any SGG LITE-FLOOR product. Cleaning To clean SGG LITE-FLOOR it is recommended to use a wet brush with regular commercial glass cleaner and a rubber wiper. Alternatively, steam-vacuum cleaning has good results. Cloths or sponges are not recommended as they leave residue. Preventive maintenance SGG LITE-FLOOR installation should be inspected on a yearly basis to ensure that no deterioration of glazing material occurs. Loss or breakdown of silicones could lead to moisture infiltration which could ultimately lead to delaminating. 4 SGG LITE-FLOOR

5 D e s c r i p t i o n SGG LITE-FLOOR is a laminated safety glass, which comprises at least three sheets of standard soda lime silica glass. The upper sheet is heat-treated and coated with a patented slip-resistant ceramic frit. When compared to regular commercial floor tiles, the durability of the ceramic frit fulfils abrasion resistance requirements. A two year test having a traffic frequency over 100,000 cycles resulted in only minimal reduction in slipresistance. Typically the thickness of the glass is determined by analyzing deflections and stresses. The lower sheets act as the load-bearing part of the unit. They might be annealed or heat treated depending on the required design capabilities. The integrity of SGG LITE-FLOOR is ensured by the use of a highly tear-resistant interlayer. Extensive testing of the load-bearing capacity has been done even following forced failure. Polished typical for stair treads or areas of exposed edges. The edge(s) to be polished shall be clearly indicated. Edge displacement or the misalignment at any one edge of the constituent glass panes making up the laminated glass may be as much as 4 mm (EN ISO ). Leading edges of stairs treads should always be signified to minimise any displacement at the given edge. Slip resistance ceramic frit 28 standard patterns in 50 different base colors are available (see enclosure). However, to achieve the minimum threshold of safety for normal walking in internal commercial applications under wet or dry conditions, a surface coverage of at least 25% is required. For all external applications and/or high frequency traffic areas, a surface coverage of at least 50% is recommended. Optional types SGG LITE-FLOOR RTF: for heavy commercial and industrial applications requiring additional structural integrity SGG LITE-FLOOR CL: applications where no slip resistance is required 3 SGG LITEFLOOR
