2 Thompson ES Abatement ORG307 Addendum 1 for BP #301A Clarifications 1. Security fencing will not be required by the District. However, if desired, the abatement contractor may install fencing at their disrcetion. 2. Bar scales have been added to each of the attached drawings. See Attachements. 3. The boiler room is labeled to be non asbestos. Verification of the materials within the boiler room shall be conducted by the consultant, however, access has been limited due to standing water. The abatement contractor will be responsible for removing the water. Filtering of the water will not be required. 4. The custodial room/office located below grade and adjacent to the boiler room contains asbestos floor tile and mastic. This room has been added to the respective drawing and the quantity of material has been added to the scope of work and to the drawing. 5. The Asbestos Contaminated Debris section of the scope of work references Contaminated Soil. This has been corrected to say Debris Removal. Please refer to the Section for the correction. 3 The following summary of work has been amended to replace the original Section SUMMARY OF WORK Thompson ES Addendum 1 SECTION PART 1 - GENERAL RELATED DOCUMENTS: Drawings and general provisions of Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions, apply to the Work of this section. CONTRACT DOCUMENTS: The Contract Documents, as prepared by the CONSULTANT, indicate the Work of the Contract and related requirements and conditions that have an impact on the Project. Related requirements and conditions include, but are not necessarily limited to the following: - Applicable codes and regulations. - Notices, permits, license fees, taxes. - Existing site conditions and restrictions on use of site. - Work performed prior to work under this Contract. - Alterations and coordination with existing work. - Work to be performed concurrently by the OWNER. - Work to be performed concurrently by separate contractors. - Work to be performed subsequent to work under this Contract. - Requirements for partial OWNER occupancy prior to substantial completion of the Contract Work. PROJECT DURATION: Base Bid: The Project Duration for the Base Bid shall be as follows: The project duration, work hours and shifts will be coordinated with the OWNER or owner s representative. 4 ABBREVIATED WRITTEN SUMMARY: Briefly and without force and effect upon the Contract Documents, the Work of the Contract can be summarized as including removal and disposal of asbestos-containing materials associated with: BASE BID: SEE PROJECT SCOPE OF WORK Abatement CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for providing water and electrical power to the jobsite for abatement activities. Abatement CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for the security of their own equipment, supplies and personnel on the jobsite. Please note that the on-site buildings has no security systems in place. If additional security is required by the CONTRACTOR, the CONTRACTOR shall supply the additional security and include the costs in their base bid. ASBESTOS CONTAMINATED BUILDING MATERIAL DEBRIS The entire building has been vandalized and various asbestos containing building materials including friable pipe insulation and ceiling plaster/insulation has been disturbed. ALL BUILDING MATERIAL DEBRIS (including acoustic ceiling tile, pipe, conduit, furniture, school supplies, HVAC ducts, wiring, etc ) throughout the building has been contaminated and must be cleaned (conduit, metal ceiling grid, non-porous materials) and/or disposed as asbestos material during pre-cleaning or inside full containment. These materials shall be removed and disposed of as asbestos-containing materials utilizing guidelines as set forth in these specifications. Debris Removal.. ~85,000 Sq. Ft. SPRAYED-ON ACOUSTICAL PLASTER CEILINGS AND OVERSPRAY AND/OR ADHESIVE CEILING TILES AND MASTIC BUTTONS These areas shall be removed and disposed of under full containment with double wall construction utilizing guidelines as set forth in these specifications. First Floor 22,594 Sq. Ft. Second Floor..25,864 Sq. Ft. Third Floor...12,144 Sq. Ft. Total..60,602 Sq. Ft. Note: Remove spray-on acoustical texture plaster ceiling and metal lathe. Metal framework shall be cleaned and left in place. PRIMERA

5 PIPING AND FITTINGS INSULATION As a minimum, these areas shall be removed and disposed of with the Glove-bag Method utilizing single layer containment construction and negative pressure ventilation system in accordance with guidelines as set forth in these specifications. First Floor and Crawlspace..7,340 Lf. Second Floor 584 Lf. Third Floor.125 Lf. Total Piping Insulation and wrap... 8,049 Lf. Note: Standing water located in the boiler room shall be pumped out by the abatement contractor to facilitate entry of the boiler room by the consultant for evaluation of suspect asbestos containing materials. It is anticipated that no asbestos materials are present in the boiler room, therefore, filtering of pumped water will not be required. RESILIENT FLOORING MATERIALS AND/OR MASTIC These areas shall be removed and disposed of as asbestos-containing materials utilizing guidelines as set forth in these specifications. Areas designated on the abatement drawings shall be abated in their entirety. Floor tile and mastic: First Floor... 14,167 Sq. Ft. Second Floor 25,257 Sq. Ft. Third Floor 12,374 Sq. Ft. Maintenance Office..150 Sq. Ft. Total Flooring ,948 Sq. Ft. CONTAMINATED SOIL These areas shall be removed and disposed of as asbestos-containing materials utilizing guidelines as set forth in these specifications. Soil contaminated with asbestos pipe insulation located in various areas throughout the crawlspace where damaged pipe insulation is present, shall be removed to a depth of at least 2 inches and to the lateral extent of visual asbestos debris. The soils shall be removed utilizing pre-cleaning techniques as set forth in these specifications. PRIMERA

6 Crawlspace soil removal. ~3,000 Sq. Ft. CHALKBOARD MASTIC These areas shall be removed and disposed of under full containment with double wall construction utilizing guidelines as set forth in these specifications. First Floor (53 Chalkboards).. 4,610 Sq. Ft. Second Floor (65 Chalkboards) 5,400 Sq. Ft. Third Floor (36 Chalkboards). 3,160 Sq. Ft. Total (154 Chalkboards).. 13,170 Sq. Ft.
