3 INTRODUCTION This document was devised for clients who purchased their semi in-ground swimming pool from Trevi and are about to have it installed. It is important to read this document before the beginning of the work and to keep it at hand while work is in progress. It describes the different steps of the work as well as the client s responsibilities. Further information can be provided during progress of construction work. This document is not exhaustive to all situations that can occur during the installation of a semi in-ground pool. For any information concerning your pool please contact: TREVI Efficient! Trevi thanks you for the purchase of your semi in-ground swimming pool and appreciates your trust.

4 STEP 1: PRECONSTRUCTION First payment (deposit on contract signature) Implementation plan Following the signature of the contract, you will receive the visit of a technical draughtsman that will elaborate a layout plan for your semi in-ground swimming pool. You will have to submit that plan to your municipality to obtain your construction permit. Furthermore, this plan will be useful for the excavation team. Make sure that the plan includes all your needs in as much detail as possible. Your approval of the plan should be obtained before the technical draughtsman leaves your home. Supplementary fees of $300 will be charged if you wish to make changes to the plan or devised a second layout plan. It is very important that you be aware of the limits of your property so that the building site of your pool conforms to all city regulations and by-laws. In all cases Trevi will not be held responsible for missing property boundaries. Construction permit Before the beginning of the work, you must obtain a construction permit delivered by your municipality. Bring with you the technical draughtsman s layout plan. Info-Excavation A few days before excavation, you must obtain authorization from public utilities (Info- Excavation) to ensure that no underground lines, wires or conduits are located within the future building site of your semi in-ground swimming pool. You can inquire about this information by calling: Info-Excavation Montréal at or The web site : Passage access visit To make sure that all excavation equipment can access your backyard in order to dig for the installation of your semi in-ground swimming pool, Trevi will assess your property. Following the visit and upon recommendations made by Trevi, you will have to remove all obstacles that can limit access to excavation equipment, such as: trees, cedar hedge, fence, balcony, etc. Additional fees will be applied if access is not standard (minimum 11 feet wide on a straight line and 13 feet high).

5 STEP 2: DELIVERY OF MATERIALS Second payment in-store Client should plan a space (8 x 8 ) to accommodate materials, preferably on his own property. For the model Harmony, the space required is 12 x 12. Terms of payment Fifteen (15) days before the date of delivery, the client must go to the store branch to settle the second payment. If the payment is not made, date of shipping will be postponed, leading to delays in the accomplishment of the work. A $200 penalty will be charged to clients who miss a shipping appointment. Cedar wood preservation (if applicable) The client must stain the pool, before installation, with water-repellant oil, stain or other waterrepellant solutions available in any good hardware store. The product that he will choose for this purpose must be applied on a regular basis and, in this respect, you must follow the instructions to know the number of applications recommended for that product, on the exterior side of the components (exposed surfaces) only, about one week prior to the installation of the pool. Follow the directions for use of the protective product to ensure the ideal climate conditions for the applications are well respected. We suggest a refreshment of the protective product every 2nd or 3rd year depending on the quality of the protective product chosen or the harshness of the weather conditions in your region. We strongly recommend Australian Timber Oil (from Cabot Company) or the BEHR Premium Plus Ultra protective product (with the Nanoguard technology), which can be find at Home Depot. VERY IMPORTANT: Be advised that no installation of the pool will be made if the protective product was applied on both sides of the panels (inside and outside the walls). The product should be applied on the outside of the wood only to allow wood to breathe and avoid mold or rot.

6 STEP 3: EXCAVATION Client s attendance is required for this phase. REMINDER: 1. Confirmation of construction permit and authorizations from public utilities (Info- Excavation). Please supply authorization numbers to Trevi. 2. Backyard access for excavation equipment must be cleared out and property limits well indicated. 3. Expect to pay additional fees to the excavation company if extra digging is needed. Excavation consists of delimiting the space of your semi in-ground swimming pool, digging the hole for the pool and removing soil. Backyard access for excavation equipment If the access passageway for the excavation equipment is made of asphalt, concrete or paver stones, the client should plan to protect the surface. Use of the small excavation equipment is required only if it is impossible to use the standard equipment. Additional fees will be charged if access is not standard (minimum 11 feet wide on a straight line and 13 feet high). Trevi will not be held responsible for any damage that may be caused due to a non-standard access. Because small excavation equipment needs to do multiple passages, damages to the lawn can be more important than if standard excavation equipment was used. Client should verify the quality of his house foundations located on the passageway of all excavation equipment. Trevi will not assume responsibility or any warranty from damages that can occur to house foundations near passageway of excavation equipment. FOR THE FOLLOWING STEPS, PLEASE FOLLOW THOSE CORRESPONDING TO YOUR POOL MODEL: FRONTENAC, VERSAILLE OR HARMONY.

7 FRONTENAC STEP 4: POOL STRUCTURE INSTALLATION 3RD PAYMENT (CASHIER S CHEQUE OR CASH) Make sure that all material is available and accessible. Trevi installation team will set the structure in the hole 24 to 48 hours following excavation, depending on the weather. This step consists of preparing the foundation with rock dust and sand to settle the assembled panels. We will also be installing at this stage: skimmer basket, water returns as well as the main drain. Trevi will not connect any pool main drain to the house s French drain. Consequently, Trevi will install a draining well. However, if water accumulates in the well, client should get a submersible pump at his expense. Submersible pump should be installed when the snow melts in the spring and during the rainy season in fall.

8 FRONTENAC STEP 5: LINER INSTALLATION Make sure that all material is available and accessible. A temporary fence and fence posts are mandatory for the liner installation phase. This step consists of a precision fit of the liner, and filling the pool with water at the proper level indicated by the installer. The client will need a garden hose (one or two) to fill up the pool. With the cooperation of your neighbours, pools can fill up must faster with other garden hoses. In the case of clients with an artesian well, arrangements can be made with a water tank company at client s expense. Client must provide access to an exterior electric socket. REMINDER: Client must plan to have in his possession temporary fences and fence posts on the construction site. Client should plan for four rolls of temporary fence with enough fence posts (1 fence post every 5 feet) to cover the entire perimeter area of the pool. It is possible for the client to obtain fence equipment through his fence contractor. If client does not deal with a fence contractor, he will have to supply the fencing equipment himself. Trevi will install the temporary fence during the liner installation phase (phase 5). However, if property is totally fenced, client will have to provide enough temporary fences and fence posts to enclose the passageway for the excavation equipment. A temporary fence is mandatory for the liner installation step.

9 FRONTENAC STEP 6: BACK FILLING AND START UP Back filling: This step (one or two visits) consists of filling the excavated space around the pool to its original ground level. Once proper water level is obtained, the space around the pool must be filled with compacted sand. The installation team will execute this phase while connecting equipment. The installation team cannot excessively compact the sand because this can cause damage to the pool. Therefore, the installation team will compact sand to a level slightly higher than the surrounding ground so that when the natural compacting process begin, ground should settle at the appropriate level. Generally, next spring, the sand will be adequately compacted. Start up: Client s attendance is required for this phase. This step consists to give general explanations and operation demonstrations of the pool to the client. At this stage, the final electricity must have been completed. **************** After construction work has been carried out by Trevi, client takes responsibility for restoring the property, including fence, trees, passageways for excavation equipment, etc. Extras (added work) that are not included in the original contract will have to added to existing financing arrangement or be payable immediately. Fees for these extras cannot be paid at the end of construction works. WE HOPE YOU HAVE FUN SWIMMING IN YOUR NEW POOL!

10 VERSAILLE STEP 4: POOL STRUCTURE INSTALLATION 3RD PAYMENT (CASHIER S CHEQUE OR CASH) Garden hose Functional electrical outlet If above mentioned material is not accessible, customer will need to be present at this stage. Make sure that all material is available and accessible. This step consists of assembling panels, steps, skimmer and water returns at the proper location and level according to the draftsman s plans, taking into consideration the height of the pool as determined with the excavation contractor and/or his project manager. Concrete is poured for wall footings and pool floor. Please note that this step can be performed at any time, as pouring concrete is dependant on the weather and on concrete availability at specific hours of the day (such as work performed in the evening). Customer must ensure that workers can access all construction materials at all times in order to perform the above mentioned work. Concrete curing time must be considered when planning the following step: curing time depends on the weather. Customer must ensure that a functional electrical outlet and a garden hose are accessible. Should the customer be unable to supply one or the other, rental of an electric generator or of a water truck during work will be at the expense of the customer. IMPORTANT: THE CUSTOMER MUST PROTECT HIS STEPS AT ALL TIMES IF IT MAKES WORK AROUND (EXAMPLES: INSTALLATION OF A FENCE, THE PAVEMENT CUT, ETC.) TO LOWER THAN METAL DEPOSIT DO NOT COME AS EMBEDDING Y IN THE MARKET AND CAUSE RUST. RUST PROBLEMS ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY TRÉVI.

11 VERSAILLE STEP 5: LINER INSTALLATION Temporary fence and posts Garden hose / Tanker Materials must be accessible REMINDER Customer must plan to have in his possession temporary fences and fence posts on the construction site. Customer should plan for four rolls of temporary fence with enough fence posts (1 fence post every 5 feet) to cover the entire perimeter area of the pool. It is possible for the client to obtain fence equipment through his fence contractor. If customer does not deal with a fence contractor, he will have to supply the fencing equipment himself. Trevi will install the temporary fence during the liner installation phase. A temporary fence is mandatory for the liner installation phase. This step consists of a precision fit of the liner, and filling the pool with water at the proper level indicated by the installer. The customer will need a garden hose to fill up the pool. With the cooperation of your neighbours, pools can fill up much faster with other garden hoses. In the case of customers with an artesian well, arrangements can be made with a water tank company at client s expense. Customer must provide access to an exterior electrical outlet. Trevi will return to fill the void surrounding the pool. Once this is done, you should continue filling your pool with water until the level reaches the middle of the skimmer. If the blowers stop unexpectedly, you must immediately shut off the water supply to avoid having folds appearing in the liner. At this point you must inform Trevi, who will send a technician to address the issue. When you turn off the blowers, don t forget to interrupt the water supply, as blower hoses installed between the liner and the walls will get stuck if water rises too high. If this were the case, we would need to lower the water level to remove the hoses. DO NOT switch off blowers at night if the appropriate water level has not yet been reached.

12 VERSAILLE STEP 6: BACKFILLING Last payment (certified cheque or cash) This step (1 or 2 visits requested) consists of back filling the area surrounding the pool where the excavation exceeded the pool s dimensions. See note in the Excavation section regarding sand. The amount of sand supplied by Trevi is determined according to the size and model of your pool. If more than two additional tonnes are required, excess backfill will be at the customer s expense. At this stage, the team will install a safety well. If the water level in the well exceeds mid-depth during the season, a submersible pump must be used to empty the safety well. Such a pump is available at Trevi retail outlets. STEP 6 A: PLUMBING Client s presence is not required. An extension cord will be needed. This step consists of installing plumbing for the pump, filter and chlorine dispenser and if required, installation of a water heater, salt system and ozone system. Plumbing is deployed to a maximum of 20 feet from the water. Additional distance will be charged to client. Furthermore, Trevi is not responsible for digging a trench to bring the backwash pipe to the street. Additional costs will be charged if client wishes Trevi to dig this trench.

13 VERSAILLE STEP 6 B: START UP Client s attendance is required for this phase. This step consists to give general explanations and operation demonstrations of the pool to the client.
