2 GENERAL DEMOLITION NOTES FOR ALL PLANS (NOT NUMBERED ON PLANS. ) 10. THE OWNER WILL REMOVE ALL EXISTING EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS, AND OTHER ITEMS, WHICH HE WISHES TO RETAIN, FROM THE AREA OF THE BUILDING INVOLVED IN THIS WORK PRIOR TO START OF CONSTRUCTION. IT IS TO BE ASSUMED THAT ALL EQUIPMENT, SHELVING, MATERIALS, AND OTHER ITEMS REMAINING IN THE REFERENCES AREA AT COMMENCEMENT OF CONSTRUCTION, AND WHICH ARE NOT DESIGNATED IN THESE DOCUMENTS TO REMAIN OR FOR REUSE AS DESCRIBED, ARE TO BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE CONTRACTOR AND ARE TO BE REMOVED FROM THE SITE AND DISPOSED OF IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS AND WITH ALL GOVERNING REGULATIONS. 11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CAREFULLY NOTE WHICH AREAS OF THE EXISTING BUILDING ARE NOT TO RECEIVE ANY DEMOLITION OR REMODELING WORK AND THOSE AREAS OF THE BUILDING SHALL BE PROTECTED THROUGHOUT CONSTRUCTION FROM ANY DAMAGE DUE TO WORK UNDER THIS CONTRACT, INCLUDING THE INADVERTENT REMOVAL OF ANY MATERIALS OR EQUIPMENT WHICH ARE TO REMAIN UNCHANGED. 12. ALL DEMOLITION WORK IN ANY INTERIOR SPACE IN THE PROJECT SHALL BE CARRIED OUT IN A MANNER TO AVOID DAMAGE OF ANY KIND TO ALL ADJACENT SURFACES AND FINISHES WHICH WILL REMAIN IN THE FINISHED PROJECT. 13. ALL PLAN AND GENERAL DEMOLITION NOTES ON THIS SHEET AND ON OTHER DEMOLITION SHEETS SHALL BE COORDINATED COMPLETELY WITH REMODELING NOTES SHOWN ON FINISH PLANS AND OTHER SHEETS FOR A COMPLETE AND PROPER FINISHED INSTALLATION OF ALL MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT. 1. WHEREVER ANY EXISTING WALL, FLOOR, CEILING OR OTHER ARCHITECTURAL SURFACE OR FINISH IS DEMOLISHED, CUT, OR OTHERWISE DISTURBED BY THIS WORK, PROVIDE COMPLETE COORDINATION WITH PLUMBING, MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL WORK FOR REMOVAL AND/OR RELOCATION OF ANY AND ALL FIXTURES, PIPES, DUCTS, OUTLETS, SWITCHES, ETC., AS REQUIRED FOR A COMPLETE AND PROPER INSTALLATION OF ALL BUILDING FEATURES IN COMPLIANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE CODES AND REGULATIONS. 2. ALL DEMOLITION WORK SHALL BE CARRIED OUT IN A MANNER TO PROTECT ALL ADJACENT SURFACES WHICH REMAIN IN PLACE, PARTICULARLY FINISH SURFACES WHICH WILL REMAIN EXPOSED IN THE COMPLETED WORK. 3. WHEREVER EXISTING PLUMBING FIXTURES, MECHANICAL DEVICES, OR ELECTRICAL DEVICES OCCUR ON OR IN EXISTING WALLS OR OTHER SURFACES WHICH ARE REMOVED, COORDINATE WITH PLUMBING, MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL SUBCONTRACTORS FOR REMOVAL OF THE FIXTURES AND DEVICES AND FOR CAPPING OR RELOCATION OF PIPES, CONDUITS, ETC., BELOW OR BEHIND FINISHED SURFACES AS REQUIRED FOR A COMPLETE, FINISHED INSTALLATION IN COMPLIANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE CODES AND REGULATIONS. 4. ALL EXISTING CONCRETE FLOORS WHERE EXISTING FLOORING IS OR HAS BEEN REMOVED, AND WHICH WILL REMAIN IN THE FINISHED WORK, SHALL HAVE ALL CRACKS AND OTHER IRREGULARITIES PATCHED WITH CONCRETE PATCHING OR LEVELING COMPOUND AS REQUIRED, SHALL HAVE ALL ADHESIVES AND OTHER FOREIGN SUBSTANCES REMOVED, AND SHALL BE LEVELED WITH NEW CONCRETE LEVELING COMPOUND AS REQUIRED TO PROVIDE A SMOOTH, EVEN AND PROPER SURFACE FOR NEW FLOOR COVERINGS. PARTICULAR CARE SHALL BE TAKEN TO PROPERLY LEVEL FLOORS THROUGH EXISTING AND NEW OPENINGS IN WALLS AND PARTITIONS, AND LEVELING COMPOUND SHALL BE FEATHERED IN A MANNER TO AVOID ANY ABRUPT CHANGES IN FLOOR LEVEL. ALL EXISTING CONCRETE SLABS ON GRADE WHICH RECEIVE NEW VINYL COMPOSITION TILE OR CARPET FLOORING SHALL BE SEALED WITH A NEW SEALER AS REQUIRED TO STOP WATER MIGRATION TO THE SURFACE OF THE SLAB. PERFORM PROPER MOISTURE TESTS AS SPECIFIED AND AS REQUIRED TO DETERMINE MOISTURE CONTENT OF ALL SLABS PRIOR TO INSTALLATION OF ADHESIVE AND TILE. 5. COORDINATE WITH ELECTRICAL SUBCONTRACTOR FOR REMOVAL OF ALL EXISTING INTERIOR SURFACE MOUNTED CONDUITS, WIRE MOLDS, OUTLET STRIPS, PANELBOARDS, BACKBOARDS, BOXES, FIXTURES, WIRING, AND OTHER ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AND DEVICES ON OR IN EXISTING WALLS WHICH REMAIN AND WHICH EQUIPMENT AND DEVICES ARE INDICATED IN THE ELECTRICAL DOCUMENTS TO BE ABANDONED. PATCH ALL WALL SURFACES AS REQUIRED TO MATCH SURROUNDING WORK AND TO RECEIVE NEW FINISHES AS SCHEDULED. 6. ALL EXISTING WALLS, CEILINGS, FLOORS, SUBSTRATES AND OTHER SURFACES WHICH WILL REMAIN EXPOSED IN THE FINISHED WORK AND WHICH ARE SOILED OR DAMAGED BY DEMOLITION WORK SHALL BE PATCHED AS REQUIRED TO MATCH THE ADJACENT SURFACE. SUCH SURFACES WHICH ARE COATED WITH EXISTING PAINT SHALL BE REPAINTED WITH SUFFICIENT COATS OF PAINT TO COMPLETELY HIDE THE PATCHING WORK. 7. WHEREVER THESE NOTES OR ANY PLAN DEMOLITION OR REMODELING NOTES CALL FOR EXISTING PLUMBING OR HEATING PIPES OR EXISTING ELECTRICAL CONDUITS TO BE CAPPED, ALL CAPPING SHALL BE DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL CODES AND REGULATIONS AND IN A MANNER TO BE COMPLETELY HIDDEN IN THE FINISHED WORK. 8. WHEREVER ANY ITEM OF MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL OR PLUMBING EQUIPMENT IS REMOVED FROM ANY WALL, FLOOR OR OTHER SURFACE WHICH IS TO REMAIN IN PLACE IN THE FINISH WORK, THAT SURFACE SHALL BE REPAIRED AS REQUIRED TO MATCH SURROUNDING WORK AND TO RECEIVE NEW FINISHES AS SCHEDULED. SUCH REPAIR WORK SHALL BE CARRIED OUT BY THE APPROPRIATE TRADES. 9. ALL EXISTING RUBBER BASES IN EXISTING SPACES TO BE RENOVATED IN THE AREA OF THIS WORK SHALL BE REMOVED AND THE WALLS BEHIND SHALL BE PATCHED AS REQUIRED TO MATCH SURROUNDING WORK AND TO RECEIVE NEW BASES AND OTHER FINISHES AS SCHEDULED.

3 FLOOR PLAN DEMOLITION NOTES (NUMBERED ON PLANS THUS: ) 1. NOT USED 2. REMOVE EXISTING DOOR, HARDWARE AND FRAME FROM OPENING IN EXISTING INTERIOR BRICK AND CONCRETE BLOCK MASONRY WALL AND WIDEN OPENING AS REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW SINGLE DOOR AND FRAME AS SHOWN ON FINISH PLAN AND AS DETAILED AND SCHEDULED. PROVIDE TEMPORARY SUPPORT AS REQUIRED FOR WALL AND STRUCTURE ABOVE UNTIL NEW LINTEL AND FRAME ARE IS INSTALLED AND WALL IS PATCHED BACK TO FRAME AND LINTEL. CARRY OUT THIS WORK CAREFULLY AS REQUIRED TO AVOID DAMAGE TO ADJACENT FLOOR TILES AND OTHER FINISHES WHICH REMAIN IN PLACE. PROVIDE ALL PROTECTION REQUIRED. 3. REMOVE EXISTING ACOUSTICAL TILE CEILING INCLUDING GRID FROM ENTIRE AREA WHICH IS TO BECOME THE NEW CONFERENCE ROOM AND SCHOOL STORE. TILE AND GRID SHALL BE REMOVED CAREFULLY TO AVOID DAMAGE AND SHALL BE STORED IN A SAFE LOCATION FOR REUSE AS REQUIRED IN PATCHING EXISTING CEILING IN LOBBY OUTSIDE NEW CONFERENCE ROOM AND SCHOOL STORE. 4. REMOVE EXISTING RUBBER BASE FROM THIS WALL COMPLETELY AND PATCH EXISTING WALL AS REQUIRED FOR PROPER APPLICATION OF NEW RUBBER BASE AS SCHEDULED AND AS SPECIFIED.

4 FLOOR PLAN REMODELING NOTES (NUMBERED ON PLANS THUS: ) 1. PATCH EXISTING ACOUSTICAL TILE CEILING IN LOBBY REUSING EXISTING CEILING TILES AND GRID SALVAGED FROM REMOVAL UNDER FLOOR PLAN DEMOLITION NOTE 3. CEILING SHALL BE PATCHED BACK TO EXISTING AND NEW GYPSUM BOARD PARTITIONS AS REQUIRED TO MATCH SURROUNDING WORK. 2. INSTALL NEW STEEL STUD AND GYPSUM BOARD EXTENSION OF PARTITION AS SHOWN AND AS REQUIRED TO RECEIVE NEW DOOR SWING AND TO MOUNT NEW LIGHT AND PROJECTION SCREEN CONTROL SWITCHES. PATCH ALL ADJACENT FLOOR, WALL AND CEILING SURFACES AS REQUIRED TO MATCH SURROUNDING WORK AND TO RECEIVE NEW FINISHES AS SCHEDULED. 3. INSTALL NEW LINTEL, DOOR FRAME, HARDWARE AND DOOR IN EXISTING WIDENED OPENING IN BRICK AND CONCRETE BLOCK MASONRY WALL WHERE OLD DOOR AND FRAME HAVE BEEN REMOVED. PATCH WALL BACK TO NEW FRAME AND LINTEL WITH NEW BRICK AND CONCRETE BLOCK MASONRY AS REQUIRED TO MATCH, COURSE WITH AND TOOTH INTO EXISTING. PATCH ALL ADJACENT FLOOR AND WALL SURFACES AS REQUIRED TO MATCH SURROUNDING WORK AND TO RECEIVE NEW FINISHES AS SCHEDULED. 4. INSTALL NEW 6" CONCRETE BLOCK PARTITION AS REQUIRED TO SEPARATE ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT FROM ADJACENT SPACE INCLUDING NEW DOOR FRAME, HARDWARE AND DOOR AS SCHEDULED IN PARTITION. ANCHOR NEW CONCRETE BLOCK TO EXISTING AT END AS SHOWN AND AS SPECIFIED. NEW CONCRETE BLOCK SHALL MATCH AND COURSE WITH EXISTING ADJACENT CONCRETE BLOCK. PATCH ALL ADJACENT FLOOR AND WALL SURFACES AS REQUIRED TO MATCH SURROUNDING WORK AND TO RECEIVE NEW FINISHES AS SCHEDULED. 5. THIS STEEL STUD AND GYPSUM BOARD PARTITION SHALL BE INSTALLED USING STANDARD 3-5/8" STEEL STUDS WITH 5/8" THICK GYPSUM BOARD ON EACH FACE PLUS ADDITIONAL LAYER OF GYPSUM BOARD LAMINATED ON ONE FACE AS REQUIRED TO BRING THE NEW GYPSUM BOARD PARTITION TO THE SAME THICKNESS AS THE EXISTING GYPSUM BOARD PARTITIONS TO WHICH IT ABUTS. NEW GYPSUM BOARD SHALL BE FLUSH AND EVEN WITH EXISTING ON EACH FACE AT COMPLETION OF WORK. INSTALL SOUND BATTS CONTINUOUSLY IN ALL NEW STEEL STUD SPACES. 6. NEW GYPSUM BOARD PARTITION ABOVE NEW DOOR AND VIEW WINDOW FRAMES, CONSISTING OF 3-5/8" STEEL STUDS WITH 5/8" GYPSUM BOARD ON EACH FACE, SHALL BE CONTINUOUS FROM TOP OF HOLLOW METAL FRAMES UP TO EXISTING STRUCTURE ABOVE AND SHALL BE SEALED TIGHTLY. INSTALL SOUND BATTS CONTINUOUSLY IN NEW GYPSUM BOARD PARTITION AS SPECIFIED. 7. NEW GYPSUM BOARD PARTITION BETWEEN NEW STORE AND NEW CONFERENCE ROOM SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OF 3-5/8" STEEL STUDS WITH 5/8" GYPSUM BOARD ON EACH FACE WITH SOUND BATTS CONTINUOUSLY BETWEEN STUDS AS SPECIFIED. NEW PARTITION SHALL EXTEND UP TO STRUCTURE ABOVE AND SHALL BE SEALED TIGHTLY. 8. AFTER EXISTING CEILING HAS BEEN REMOVED AS INDICATED IN FLOOR PLAN DEMOLITION NOTE 3, INSTALL NEW GYPSUM BOARD COVERING OVER STEEL STUDS ON NEW CONFERENCE ROOM SIDE OF EXISTING PARTITION. NEW GYPSUM BOARD SHALL BE CONTINUOUS FROM TOP OF EXISTING GYPSUM BOARD JUST ABOVE CEILING UP TO STRUCTURE ABOVE AND SHALL BE SEALED TIGHTLY. THIS WORK
