3 System Components THE HYPROOF WATERPROOFING SYSTEM At the heart of the Hyproof waterproofing system is a Coal Tar Elastomeric (CTEM) membrane that is a combination of coal tar, PVC, and Elvaloy, a high molecular weight PVC plasticizer. This unique combination of materials gives the membrane unequaled properties making it ideally suited for waterproofing applications. Tough, durable, and extremely chemical resistant, the membrane also is impervious to mold, mildew, rot,and root penetration. Our membranes and cloaks can be joined by either a hot air weld which fuses the membrane together, or the strong covalent bond provided by our high performance Structural Sealant. All our components work together to provide tight, durable, and complete protection not just against water, but all other environmental contaminants. Hyproof SA (Self Adhered) Membrane A self adhered, fully adhered, ctem waterproofing membrane intended for use over primed smooth, dry substrates. The bottom of the sheet is coated with SBSmodified asphalt with a dry selvedge edge for hot air welds. Suitable substrates include, but are not limited to, wood, masonry, and dry concrete. Hyproof GL (Grid Lock) Membrane An uncoated CTEM waterproofing membrane that is installed onto ribbons of Membrane Adhesive laid in a grid pattern. It is intended for use over smooth surfaces that could be moist or, in retrofit projects, covered with an older existing waterproofing system. Possible substrates include concrete that has not fully cured or an old hot-applied asphalt or coal tar waterproofing system. Contact Hyload for further guidance regarding acceptable substrates. Hyload Membrane Adhesive A moisture cure, moisture insensitive polyether adhesive that is used to adhere Hyproof GL to substrates. Membrane Adhesive is typically applied in a 12 o.c. grid (checkerboard) pattern so that it will limit the lateral migration of water. It will bond to almost all possible substrates including uncured concrete, masonry, asphalt, and coal tar. Hyload Trowel-On Membrane (TOM) A solvent-free waterproofing mastic that can be applied in beads from a 28 oz. caulking tube, or trowel-applied from 2 or 5 gallon pails. Hyload TOM cures by exposure to ambient moisture. It is suitable for use in both above and below grade applications. Among other uses, Hyload TOM is used to form fillets for inside corner applications of the Hyload waterproofing system. It is also used to affix Hyload Cloaks into place. Hyload Cloaks Pre-formed inside and outside corners for installation with the Hyload Hyproof waterproofing system. Hyload TOM is used to affix the cloaks into place. The cloaks can be bonded to Hyproof membranes with either Hyload Structural Sealant, hot air welding, or a combination of both. Hyglass Protection Board A tough and dense fiberglass and asphalt composite board that offers membrane protection from many of the physical abuses that are common during the construction and waterproofing process. Our standard size is 4 x 5 with a thickness of 3/16 ; it is quick and easy to install. Other sizes are available by special order: 4 x 8 with a thickness of 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2. Hyload Structural Sealant A moisture cure, moisture insensitive, high performance polyether sealant. It will covalently bond to both Hyproof membranes and cloaks, in addition to aggressively bonding to almost all commonly used construction materials. In addition to bonding membranes and cloaks, Structural Sealant is used to seal any exposed termination of the Hyload waterproofing system. Hydrain Drainage Boards Provide pre-formed engineered drainage that will minimize water build-up on Hyload waterproofing systems. Hydrain comes in (typically) 4 x 50 foot sections for quick and easy installation.

4 Compatibility with existing waterproofing systems CONTROL OF LATERAL WATER MIGRATION IN WATERPROOFING SYSTEMS In most waterproofing applications, one of the long-term design concerns is controlling the lateral migration of water in the event that the membrane is compromised. Some manufacturers accomplish this by requiring the use of a specially installed containment grid which will limit lateral water movement within a (typically) 10 foot area. Hyload s Hyproof membranes offer two alternative approaches to solving this issue. Hyproof SA (Self Adhered) membrane system Designed for installation on clean, smooth substrates such as concrete or wood. It is manufactured with an SBS-modified asphalt adhesive coating that results in 100% adhesion to the substrate upon application. This adhesion effectively serves to limit the lateral migration of water. Hyproof GL (Grid Lock) membrane system Designed to be installed over substrates typically found in repair, retrofit, or expansion projects. These substrates are commonly contaminated with an old, existing waterproofing system. The Hyproof GL membrane is installed over a 12 o.c. grid (a checkerboard pattern) of beads of Hyload s Membrane Adhesive. The underlying grid of adhesive serves to limit any lateral water movement. It is the versatility and compatibility of our Membrane Adhesive that allows it to bond aggressively to the Hyproof membrane, coal tar, and practically every other commonly seen substrate. Hyload s compatibility with existing coal tar waterproofing systems has enabled successful tie-in/recover/renovation projects at a number of facilities. This is accomplished without costly and timeconsuming scarification of the existing coal tar. This technique is intended to be used in lieu of traditional flood testing. This service is provided by International Leak Detection, an independent third party agency who will provide our customers with an unbiased detailed report. This state-of-the-art service is another example of Hyload s commitment to long-life, troublefree performance. The benefits of the EFVM process are as follows: Works on exposed, ballasted or concealed membranes Ponded water will not affect the EFVM integrity test Can be employed on vertical, sloped and flat surfaces Eliminates unnecessary and costly removal of overburden to locate the membrane breach Locates membrane breaches with pin point accuracy Superior to traditional flood testing methods Membrane repairs can be re-tested immediately Permanently installed EFVM components facilitate re-testing throughout the lifecycle of the membrane TIE-IN OF HYPROOF GL TO EXISTING (COAL TAR) WATERPROOF SYSTEM EXISTING (COAL TAR) AND DEBRIS HYPROOF GL MINIMUM 12 CONTINUOUS 1/4 BEADS OF STRUCTURAL SEALANT HOT AIR WELD HYPROOF MEMBRANE ON REMAINDER NOTE: Condition of substrate determines if Hyproof GL or Hyproof SA is used on remainder NEW/CLEAN SURFACE INSTALL EXPANSION JOINT IF SUBSTRATE NOT CONTINUOUS SUBSTRATE DRESS EDGE WITH CONTINUOUS BEAD OF STRUCTURAL SEALANT
