Fine Cast Brick developed for Housing Associations and Private Developments

AG have a long history as a manufacturer of the highest quality hard landscaping products but our history with brick is even older. Over the decades we have built up an impressive track record of developing a broad range of innovative facing brick products into every market sector and supplying tens of millions of them every year. Over time, we have created many new styles and finishes within our range but tradition has always been accompanied by a focus on innovation. Embracing new technology, new production techniques and innovative additive and mix designs, we have been able to continually advance the quality and finish of our entire facing brick range, resulting in products that are a superior blend of technological advancement and strong aesthetic values. 02 Since 1960 AG started innovating with brick almost six decades ago with every year bringing new advances in quality, durability and finish.

GRANGE RUSSET 03 You have expressed interest in Grange Russet, a modern, contemporary brick developed as part of our Sivil range. As our production process enables us to manufacture a brick to exacting tolerances, this brick will be manufactured to category D3 as per BS EN 771-3:2011, meaning that it will have length and width tolerances of +1 /-3mm and +/- 1.5mm in height. 6 MADE WITH THE FINEST PIGMENTS The pigment used in our Sivil brick comes from Lanxess pigments the iron oxide based pigment becomes part of the matrix of the product and while everything weathers to varying degrees depending on the exposure conditions, we can guarantee that the colour of Sivil Brick will not experience any significant change during its lifetime AG Social Brick+.indd 6 09/03/ :13

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 60 All AG bricks have been designed with durability in mind and we can therefore guarantee that our residential brick will withstand the UK s weather to remain beautiful for at least 60 years. AG facing brick is manufactured to exceed the standards established by BS EN 771-3:2011 and we guarantee that all brick manufactured and sold by AG, provided it is installed correctly in compliance with the relevant British Standards, will not fail structurally due to non-compliance with BS EN 771-3:2011. In no event will this limited guarantee exceed 60 years from the date of purchase. Please see page 10 of the brochure for more details. RESISTANCE TO FIRE This brick will be made from Class A materials, which means it is noncombustible. Besides having full control of the aggregates used to produce this brick (which come locally from our own quarries), our production methods give us control over the strengths that we produce so, unlike clay brick, the strength is not simply achieved from the firing process. We can therefore produce this brick to the optimum strength requirement of 30 N/mm 2. As the internal skin is the load bearing part of the building and is usually constructed from 7N/mm 2 common blocks, our 30 N/ mm 2 brick are more than strong enough: excessively high strengths in clay bricks are a problem as the product often becomes very brittle, resulting in very high wastage levels. The Sivil range is based on our existing Stately range, which has already passed the F2 severe exposure test: AG have never had a single brick failure due to frost damage in any project. This brick will be manufactured by the compaction of a semi-dry mix of naturally occurring aggregates, Portland cement, various admixtures and synthetic iron oxide pigments under a combination of high pressure and vibration. Unlike many clay brick alternatives which may only have an applied face (meaning that the body of the brick is a different colour), all of the bricks we manufacture are coloured all the way through. LACQUERING A lacquer is applied to our bricks at the wet production stage. This has four key benefits: Inhibits efflorescence Helps strengthen the arrises of the brick Helps enhance the colour of the brick Reduces the risk of surface water entering the face of the brick 07 TECHNICAL PROPERTIES Product Dimensions 215 x x 65mm COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH 30 N/mm 2 (min) BOND STRENGTH 0.15 n/mm 2 WATER ABSORPTION 8% max REACTION TO FIRE A1 Class DURABILITY DESIGNATION F2 EN Class WATER VAPOUR PERMEABILITY [u] 5/15u tabulated from EN 1745 ACTIVE SOLUBLE SALTS; [SO3] 0.03% PACK QUANTITY 512 SIZE TOLERANCE D3 EN T.1 GROSS DENSITY 2200 Kg/m 3 PACK SIZE : [ APX. 8 08 AT AG WE RE COMMITTED TO MEETING+ EXCEEDING STANDARDS Our Fine Cast Brick products are made from locally sourced aggregates mined from our own quarries. Environmental Concerns AG recognise that the activities of our organisation could potentially have a significant impact on the environment. In order to minimise this impact, we take a proactive, rather than a reactive, stance on environmental matters. Certification BS EN ISO is a comprehensive tool that provides industry with a way of controlling environmental impacts. AG were awarded certification for a multi-site management system (across eight Northern Ireland manufacturing sites and three quarries) that documents environmental impacts including: energy waste, production waste and carbon emissions. OHSAS OHSAS 18001:2007 is an international occupational health and safety management system that provides a framework to control health and safety risks and improve the health and safety of employees. AG was awarded certification because of the high standards of safety awareness across all of its operations. You can trust that AG will always apply best practice in terms of health and safety. Good Practice Commitments Water management and recycling. Recycling and reuse of aggregates. Dust suppression in operation for plant movement and production processes including crushing and screening. Developing markets for by-products. Adoption of noise suppression and reduction techniques. Implementation of waste management systems in place across all locations. Energy conservation measures. Site restoration and aftercare.

WE ARE A LOCAL MANUFACTURER + EMPLOYER AG employ over 400 people, primarily within local communities in Mid-Ulster. Approximately 40 staff in our Toome plant and 30 staff in our Dungannon plant are employed in the production of our brick ranges. Landscaping and improved visual amenity. Sustainability AG is one of the most innovative and progressive concrete manufacturing companies in the UK and Ireland and has invested significantly in modern technology. Our commitment to positive environmental, social and economic performance is visible through the continuous assessment of our products and their environmental impact. Environmental AG have designated care of the environment as an essential part of our business strategy. We seek to support the government s environmental aims by adopting, where possible, Best Available Techniques Not Entailing Excessive Cost (BATNEEC). We also take into account environmental issues when designing management systems, organisational structures and communication systems. Restoration Waste material that cannot be recycled back into the production process is used as an aid to restoration at our sites. It helps to relandscape and restore the parts of our sites no longer used for production purposes. Control of the Working Environment Any industrial process can lead to pollution of the surrounding environment and atmosphere. In the quarrying and concrete product manufacturing industry, our processes involve blasting raw aggregate, crushing, screening, washing and finally the various production processes to create our extensive product ranges. Dust is the main environmental hazard within our plants In recognition of this the company has developed an environmental policy which outlines the company s commitment to the environment: A dedicated environmental operative on each of our 12 manufacturing sites, responsible for dust control, monitoring silt discharge and ensuring company meets requirements of IPC (Industrial Pollution Control) licence requirements. Staff training to ensure that our workforce understands the environmental impact of both the individual and company activities, and environmental policy commitments. Actively promoting the communication of issues concerning the environment to staff, suppliers and customers staff local to Mid-Ulster are employed in the making of Fine Cast Brick AG.UK.COM
