1 SECTION VERTICAL LOUVER BLINDS PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 SECTION INCLUDES A. Vertical slat louver blinds and operating hardware. 1.2 REFERENCE STANDARDS A. WCMA A Safety of Corded Window Covering Products; Window Covering Manufacturers Association; (ANSI/WCMA A101.1) 1.3 SUBMITTALS A. See Shop Drawings, Product Data, and Samples (with Sample Submittal Schedule) for submittal procedures. B. Product Data: Provide data indicating physical and dimensional characteristics, operating features, and site verified field dimensions. C. Samples: Submit two samples, 6 inch long illustrating slat materials and finish, color, cord type and color. D. Manufacturer's Installation Instructions: Indicate special procedures. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing the Products specified in this section with minimum three years documented experience. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 MANUFACTURERS A. 2 2.2 BLINDS AND BLIND COMPONENTS A. Blinds: Vertical slat louvers hung from full-width headrail adjustable by want; complying with WCMA A B. PVC Slats: 1. Width: 3 ½ inch. 2. Thickness: inch. 3. Color: White. C. Head Rail: Pre-finished, formed steel box, with end caps; internally fitted with hardware, pulleys, and bearings for operation; same depth as width of slats 1. Height: 3 inches. 2. Color: Same as slats. D. Control Wand: Extruded hollow plastic; square shape. 1. Removable type. 2. Length of window opening height less 3 inches. 3. Color: As selected. E. Headrail Attachment: Wall brackets. F. Accessory Hardware: Type recommended by blind manufacturer. 2.3 FABRICATION A. Fabricate blinds to fit within openings with uniform edge clearance of 1/4 inch. B. Fabricate blinds to cover window frames completely. C. At openings requiring multiple blind units, provide separate blind assemblies with space of one (1) inch between blinds, located at window mullion centers. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Verify that openings are ready to receive the work. B. Ensure structural blocking and supports are correctly placed. VERTICAL LOUVER BLINDS

3 3.2 INSTALLATION A. Install blinds in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. B. Secure in place with flush countersunk fasteners. 3.3 INSTALLATION TOLERANCES A. Maximum Variation of Gap at Window Opening Perimeter: 1/4 inch. B. Maximum Offset From Level: 1/8 inch. 3.4 ADJUSTING A. Adjust blinds for smooth operation. 3.5 SCHEDULE A. LD 3 - "Laminates, High-Pressure, Decorative." 1.3 DEFINITIONS A. Exposed Surfaces of Casework: surfaces visible when doors and drawers are closed, including visible surfaces in open cabinets or behind glass doors. B. Semiexposed Surfaces of Casework: 1. Surfaces visible when behind opaque doors and drawer fronts are open, including interior faces of doors and interiors and sides of drawers. 2. Bottoms of wall cabinets are defined as semiexposed. C. Concealed Surfaces of Casework: 1. Surfaces not usually visible after installation, including sleepers, web frames, dust panels, bottoms of drawers, and ends of cabinets installed directly against and completely concealed by walls or other cabinets. 2. Tops of wall cabinets and utility cabinets are defined as concealed. 1.4 SUBMITTALS MANUFACTURED CASEWORK

6 A. Product Data: Furnish complete material specifications. B. Shop Drawings: Show elevations, materials, methods of fabrication, and details of installation. Show sizes, dimensions and connections to other items for coordination with Work of other Sections. C. Samples: Full range of color options of plastic laminates, Formica or approved. Colors for all base and wall units will be selected from manufacturer's standard colors. Colors for all horizontal exposed surfaces will be selected from manufacturer's non- standard colors. D. Certificates: Manufacturer's written guarantee certifying complete compliance with requirements of Contract Documents. Submit on company letterhead, signed by an individual legally authorized to bind manufacturer. E. Product Data showing compliance with ESDS 6.2 Low/No VOC Adhesives and Sealants and ESDS 7.1 Composite Wood Products that emit Low/No Formaldehyde. 1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Qualifications: 1. Specifications establish minimum quality and performance requirements. All materials and methods of workmanship shall be strictly adhered to. 2. Installation shall be supervised by factory trained and authorized personnel. B. Quality Standards: Unless otherwise indicated, comply with the following standards: 1. Cabinets: KCMA A Plastic Laminate Countertops: KCMA A C. Regulatory Requirements: Comply with ESDS 6.2 Low/No VOC Adhesives and Sealants and ESDS 7.1 Composite Wood Products that emit Low/No Formaldehyde. 1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Properly protect all material during transit, distribution, and storage. Store in a safe, dry, clean, well ventilated space, protected from damage, soiling and moisture. B. Do not deliver casework until the building is closed in and all painting, finishing, and overhead Work is complete in the spaces to receive casework, and temperature and relative humidity are stabilized and conditions are representative of the finished facility. 1.7 WARRANTY A. Furnish written warranty stating that all materials and workmanship will be free from defects for a period of 1 year from date of final acceptance. MANUFACTURED CASEWORK

7 B. Repair or replace any defective items in a timely fashion, at no cost to the Owner. C. Guarantee any replacements or warranty service for 1 year from time of completion. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 MANUFACTURERS A. Cabinets: HD Supply Seasons, Overland Collection. B. Countertops: Topline counters or approved. 2.2 CABINET MATERIALS A. Exposed Materials: Comply with the Following: 1. Exposed Wood Species: a. Unless otherwise indicated, do not use two adjacent exposed faces that are noticeably dissimilar in color, grain, figure, and or natural character markings. b. Oak 2. Solid Wood: Clear hardwood lumber species indicated, free of defects, selected for compatible grain and color, kiln dried to 7 percent moisture content. B. Semi-Exposed Materials: Unless otherwise noted, provide the following: 1. Industrial grade engineered wood is permanently laminated. a. Provide laminate film on both sides of shelves, dividers, and other components with two semi-exposed surfaces and semiexposed edges. C. Concealed Materials: Comply with the following: 1. Plywood: Any hardwood or softwood species, with no defects affecting strength or utility. 2. Particleboard: ANSI A208.1, Grade M-2. No added urea formaldehyde. 2.3 COUNTER MATERIALS A. Countertops & Integral Backsplash: 1. Plastic Laminate Subsurface: Close-grain hardwood plywood, or particleboard, minimum 3/4 inch thick. 2. Plastic Laminate: In accordance with NEMA LD 3, 1/16 inch thick, Formica, Laminart, Micarta, Pionite, Wilsonart, with compensating backing sheet. Patterns and colors as selected. 3. Edge Profile: No drip. 2.4 CABINET FABRICATION MANUFACTURED CASEWORK

8 A. Face Style: Solid maple face frame. B. Door and Drawer Fronts: 1. Solid wood stiles and rails, recessed, veneer-faced plywood center panels. C. Exposed Cabinet Ends and Back: Maple veneer finish. D. Cabinet: 1/2 plywood construction. E. Drawer Guides: Epoxy coated, side mounted. F. Shelves: 3/4-inch thick engineered wood. Wall and Base cabinets have adjustable shelves supported by adjustable shelf clips. Double door base cabinets have an adjustable support for the center of the shelf. G. Hinges: Concealed clip hinges. 2.5 ADHESIVES A. Adhesives used for onsite work at cabinets and countertops shall be low VOC less than 70 g/l. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Examine conditions under which products will be installed. B. Measure all areas for scribe fit. C. Installation constitutes acceptance of responsibility for performance of the product. 3.2 PREPARATION A. Remove units from crates or protective wrappings as near site of installation as possible. 3.3 INSTALLATION A. Conform to manufacturer's printed instructions, reviewed Shop Drawings, and as shown and specified. B. Provide all trim, fillers, closures, stands, supports, sleeves, collars, escutcheons, ferrules, brackets, braces, or other miscellaneous items required for complete installation. C. Install all materials level and plumb. MANUFACTURED CASEWORK

9 D. Installed tops shall lie in one plane without gaps between tops and cabinets. E. Except for those made in the shop, make all required holes and cutouts required for pipes, conduits, and other penetrations or inserts provided as part of the Work of other Sections. Make provision for access to plumbing valves and cleanouts and connection of electrical Work. F. Scribe all countertops to adjacent wall surfaces. Install with tight joints without metal trim. G. Securely screw all cases to walls at both top and bottom to prevent fillers or scribes from opening if settling occurs. H. Close off all openings at bottoms of wall cases where scribed to wall or in corners as well as tops of wall and tall units where more than 1 inch in width. 3.4 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING A. Repair all damage done to premises as a result of installation. B. Remove all debris generated by installation on a daily basis. C. Test and adjust all items of equipment for satisfactory operation. D. Adjust hinges so doors hang straight. E. Leave cabinets and counters broom clean and wiped down with clean, damp rags. END OF SECTION MANUFACTURED CASEWORK
