4 Page 4 M A R R A N G A R O O Q U A R R Y Marrangaroo quarry is situated 7 km west of Lithgow in NSW, and supplies quartzite aggregates to the iron, road making, concrete and construction industries. The Marrangaroo hard rock Quartzite quarry commenced operations in 1912 and was operated continuously by Newbold Silica Fire Brick Company Limited until Metromix PTY LTD took over the operations of the quarry in 1989, and have continued the operation since. Metromix Marrangaroo produce a wide range of crushed rock products from the extraction and processing of Quartzite rock. The rock is very strong and durable; these products are primarily used for the production of concrete and in civil projects in the Lithgow, Central West, Blue Mountains, and Sydney, however our delivery capabilities also extend to the Central Coast, South Coast, and South Western areas. The various colours found in the Marrangaroo quartzite has made it popular for use as decorative stones in exposed aggregate architectural facades. Excellent examples of this can be seen in the exterior panels of the Gosford Hospital on the NSW Central Coast, Pre-cast panels on the F3 Freeway, and the International Hotel near Sydney Airport.
