What do you do? 1. CSA Group Service Delivery staff will contact you to address compliance with each revision as applicable to the product designs covered in your affected Certification Reports. In addition to updates to your Certificate(s) of Compliance & Report(s), testing may be required to comply with these revisions. 2. Please respond within thirty (30) days of receiving CSA Group s Application for CSA Certification Services and Quotation communication. You must respond no later than the application dates listed in Attachment 1 in order to guarantee the update to your certification is completed by the corresponding effective dates shown in the same attachment. If testing is needed, we will inform you of the samples required. ATTACHMENT 2 Approvals Certification Notice Electrical Tools 23C is to be used in conjunction with Certification Notice Electrical Tools 23, Electrical Tools 23A and Electrical Tools 23B. This certification notice announces: 1- Update 2 to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No , Third Edition (Bi-National standard with UL Fourth Edition) - Part 1 General requirements. This Update is based on the publication of IEC , Fourth Edition (2006) 2- Amendment 1 to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No , Second Edition (Bi-National standard with UL , Part 2 Particular requirements for drills and impact drills. This amendment is an adoption of IEC Amendment 1 (2008) to publication IEC , Second Edition (2003). Drills and Impact drills certified to CSA C22.2 No , 1st Ed (harmonized with UL Second Edition, June 15, 2007) can remain effective until the effective date listed in ATTACHMENT 1 for the standard CAN/CSA-C22.2 No ,Second Edition, with Amendment ) I:\Wgm4\DOC_CTRL\NOTICES\E-H\ElectricalTools23C.doc Page 4 of 6

It supersedes the third edition of CAN/CSA- C22.2 No and the fourth edition of UL , published in This Fourth Edition of CAN/CSA-C22.2 No is based on publication IEC , Fifth Edition (2010). 4- First Edition of CAN/CSA-C22.2No (Bi-National standard with UL First Edition) Part 2 Particular requirements for Chain Saws. This First Edition of CAN/CSA-C22.2No is based on publication IEC , Edition 2.1 (2011). For Canadian Certification there are additional markings on the nameplate: -the designation of this Standard (i.e., CSA ) -the chain saw classification (i.e., Complies with CSA Z62.1 Class 2C); Background and rationale: The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations of the Provinces in Canada reference the standard CSA Z 62.1 for chainsaws. While the requirements of new CSA standard are equivalent to those in the CSA Z 62.1 for Class 2C, the additional markings allow chainsaws certified to the new CSA C22.2 No to satisfy the present Regulations. 5- Amendment 2 to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No , Second Edition (Bi-National standard with UL Part 2 Particular requirements for Planers. This Amendment is based on publication IEC , Edition 2.2 (2010). Planers certified to CSA C22.2 No , 1st Ed (harmonized with UL , August 1, 2007 can remain certified until February 25, 2014, at which time the standard CAN/CSA- C22.2 No , Second Edition / UL , Second Edition, will become effective and CSA C22.2 No , 1 st Ed / UL , 2 nd Ed will be withdrawn. 6- Update 1 to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No , First Edition (Bi-National standard with UL Part 2 Particular Requirements for Hedge Trimmers. This Update is based on publication IEC , Edition 2.1 (Edition 2:2006 consolidated with Amendment 1:2009). 7- Third edition of CAN/CSA-C22.2 No (Bi-National standard with UL Third edition) Part 2 Particular requirements for routers and trimmers. This edition is an adoption of IEC :2010. Routers and Trimmers currently certified to CSA C22.2 No , 1 st Ed (harmonized with UL , August can remain certified until February 25, 2014, at which time the standard CAN/CSA-C22.2 No , Third Edition / UL , Third Edition will become effective and CSA C22.2 No , 1 st Ed / UL , 2 nd Ed will be withdrawn. 8- Amendment 1 to CAN/CSA-C22.2 NO , First Edition (Bi-National standard with UL Part 2 Particular Requirements for Jointers. This Amendment is an adoption of IEC , Edition 1.1, issued by the IEC August First Edition of CAN/CSA-C22.2 No (Bi-National standard with UL First Edition) Part 2 Particular requirements for cut-off machines. 6 10- Edition (2.2) of IEC has not yet been adopted as a CSA standard. Grinders, polishers and disk-type sanders currently certified to CSA C22.2 No , 1st Edition (harmonized with UL , dated March 23, 1995 or to CAN/CSA C22.2 No (UL , 2 nd Edition) can remain certified until the effective date of the CSA adopted IEC , edition (2.2) which is intended to be three years after its publication date. To accommodate industry needs, between and the effective date of the CSA adopted IEC , Edition (2.2): -alternate constructions to Grinders, Polishers and Disk-Type Sanders currently certified to CSA C22.2 No , 1st Edition (harmonized with UL , dated March 23, 1995, may continue be evaluated for compliance to that standard upon written request from the manufacturer. -New certifications of grinders, polishers and disk-type sanders may be evaluated for compliance to CAN/CSA C22.2 No (UL , 2 nd Edition) in conjunction with CAN/CSA-C22.2 No Second Edition (UL Third Edition) upon written request from the manufacturer. ATTACHMENT 3 Major Revisions 1- Update #2 to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No : Clause 22.3DV was revised to Add References to UL and CSA Wiring Standards that are applicable to Electric Tools. 2- Amendment 1 to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No : The National Differences, Clause DV D1, 17.2DV D1, and 23.2DV D1 have been deleted from the Part 2 Standard. Clauses K.12.2DV DR and K.12.3DV DR were added to denote that these sub-clauses of Part 2 are not applicable. 3- Fourth Edition of CAN/CSA-C22.2 No : Main changes include: in Clause 17, Endurance: introduction of endurance tests in practical use for the guards of all types of saws; in Clause 19, Mechanical hazards: clarifications and editorial improvement in respect to the guarding; and in Annex M, Safety of working stands for operation with hand-held motoroperated electric tools: editorial improvements. 4- Amendment 2 to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No : This Amendment is an adoption of IEC , Tools Safety Part 2-14: Particular Requirements for Planers (Edition 2.2, issued September 2010). Also, with this Amendment, the national difference, Clause DV, has been deleted and the technical content of Clause DV has been integrated into this version of the standard. 5- Update #1 to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No : Main changes include: Revision to Clause 21.18DV, and Table 101DV and Addition of Clauses 8.1DV and DV 6- Third edition of CAN/CSA-C22.2 No : This edition of CAN/CSA-C22.2 No supersedes the previous edition published in This standard is based on IEC , third edition. 7- Amendment 1 to CAN/CSA-C22.2 NO : This Amendment is an adoption of IEC , Edition 1.1, issued by the IEC August 2010 and does not involve revision or deletion of national differences to the base IEC standard.
